Kevin Nash in a shoot interview once said, when Shawn took to the lectern at the WM XI press conference, he took note of Shawn's speech and knew that Shawn would try to professionally upstage him, outshine him and make him look bad. It was all in a bid to elevate himself. It's quite evident within their match: "look at how good I am, compared to the #1 guy". Kevin said that he didn't blame Shawn as he said that he'd have done the same thing himself. Looking back, you can see it on Kev's face. I wrote this comment before it was acknowledged in the review and im stcicking with it, damn it.
For such a tough looking guy, Nash sounds really soft here. Nothing wrong with a competitive edge in business but considering these guys were/are lifelong friends, I’m amazed he’s ok with Shawn making him look like an incompetent idiot that can’t hang with him. The likes of a Daniel Bryan or a Bret Hart wouldn’t pull that in my opinion - they would take the lesser wrestler and try to make them look better.
@@rpprt3 Counterpoint: Nash managed to do just enough in WWF to get big fucking bucks at WCW. He gave just enough of a fuck to be set, financially speaking. Can't hate the hustle, even if he could have done much more in the ring post 1997.
On the one hand I can empathize with Shawn because he probably felt like he wasn’t being rewarded for his efforts. It took Shawn longer than it should have to make him world champion so maybe he felt like he had to really lay it on thick how valuable he was for Vince to understand.

I'm sill so shocked yall got PUROWAVE! I have been watching Alundra & Nakano matches this year because of both of your channels & it's even helped me go back and look into more 90's Japanese wrestling so thanks M8
That video was class. PUROWAVE did a great job. It's a real testament to how great Bull Nakano and Alundra Blayze/Madusa were that those women and their feud are so well-remembered for the legends they were a quarter of a century later. Probably two of the most unsung influential figures in the history of women's wrestling, and a major forerunner of its success today.
I remember watching this live. The feed went out where I live halfway through the Bret/Backlund match, only coming back when the match was ending as Backlund says "yeaaaghh" or whatever. My family and I were lucky.
John Morrison, Snooki & Trist Stratus Vs Michelle McCool, Dolph Ziggler and I think Vicky Guerrero at WM 27 also dosen't get enough love. ok maybe not...
I can explain why there was a Sid chant. It's because Sid is fucking awesome. Thank you for the content over the years (more so this year, given the circumstances).
Yeah, watching these videos, I mentally know Sid is a terrible wrestler, but he looks awesome. It makes me happy that I've gotten to watch Brock for his whole career, who looks awesome and is an amazing wrestler! (And sticks it to Vince... :D)
@@shorewall he is terrible by every smart fan metric... but he is amazing if you enjoy watching someone who "looks" like a wrestler and talks like an '80s wrestler.
@@shorewall considering he got great reactions in several promotions at several points in time, it's safe to say that it wasn't a mere fluke and that Sid has that mysterious and often-referenced "it" factor. (while he might not be that much better than many awful big men that have been in wrestling over the years, he still drew attention to himself in a way a lot of them didn't)
also, I feel "smart fans" have ruined wrestling. and it's fortunate that I feel to an extent it has turned around again (with people realizing that "workrate" in itself isn't that interesting. and usually even less interesting than good characters in (technically) worse matches).
Had to put off watching this so my friends and I could enjoy it together. And boy do we need it today. Rest in Peace Jon, thanks for everything. Thank you OSW for keeping us laughing.
The Purowave tribute to Bull and Alundra gave a thousand times more credence to their feud than WWF ever did. Which is sad because they could very easily have torn the house down if they had been allowed to. Bull is fucking awesome. With this arc, I was promised the Lex Luger new gen arc, and I got it and it was great, but more importantly we got the Bull Nakano/Mo/Backlund arc, which was somehow even better. Cheers to everybody at OSW that worked so hard to bring us such amazing entertainment, making this shit storm of a year quite a bit more bearable. 💖💖💖💖💖 and needless to say(I had the last laugh), I can't wait for...... Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo OSW content whenever youse fookin animals are ready to produce it. So in summation, I'd just like to say:.......... What a pittance
Great episode, I say with this with all the love for OSW but God I'm glad we're at the arse-end of this arc, new gen WWF got really painful really quick. Looking forward to new horizons. Take a boo, Jay, and a well deserved rest.

Lads! What a Christmas gift! I'm glad OSW can keep chugging along even in these uncertain times. You've been a bright spot in an otherwise dreary year. Long may you reign!
After two and a half years, we finally draw the curtain on quite possibly the worst time to be a wrestling fan in the history of the business. I cannot wait for the next series, whenever it is because of the lockdown, and hope it is even more gimmicky than anything before. Thank you boys so much for what you're doing, especially with everything going on now. You've brought so many smiles to my dumb Yankee face since I found you ~3 years ago. Again, thank you.
"on quite possibly the worst time to be a wrestling fan in the history of the business." Ironically, the new gen arc is probably OSW's masterpiece. (I feel the initial Hogan "arc" wasn't really an "arc". But everything since then obviously has been. And I honestly can't see them going with such a crazy extensive arc in the near future, if not ever, again)
I rewatched WWE on the Network..... Bam Bam was my biggest let down. The dude could go in the ring... give him a mic and he just couldn't talk. He rivaled Nash for promo's.
I'm from the states and this is the last match most Bigelow is remembered for. I think he deserves a low key induction to the HOF. I never cared for this wrestlemania but u guy change my mind. Awesome editing also. You guys rock! Merry Christmas from Crosby, Texas.
The shoot reason Pamela didn't walk HBK to the ring was due to HBK hitting on her which annoyed her then boyfriend/husband Tommy Lee who nearly battered HBK, so to defuse the situation Vince had jenna walk HBK to the ring and because they had Pamela so heavily advertised she walked Desiel instead.
You know, the more they say "I don't want to come back to this era, ever" the more I desperately want to see the review of the next event in this series

@@Dave_ja_vu I'm a more recent wrestling mark, so a lot of my knowledge of wrestlers is really limited. I have seen some of OSW videos on modern wwe and watched some AEW. To start, I'll claim man mountain rock. I grew up listening to various genres of rock, and I dig MMR's shredding. I'll also claim Hakushi since the tattoo gimmick was pretty cool and made him standout in the new gen. And I'll add Little Bitch 1-2-3 Kid. The meek demeanor is hilarious, and hearing OSW dump on him during the new gen arc is even more hilarious. For some more modern wrestlers, I'll claim Marko stunt. He's a bit divisive when he joined Jungle Express, but I dig that he's a really small worker and helped put over Lance Archer. I'll also add Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss. Some of janela's previous booking and angles were questionable, and some people may not like Sonny's gimmick, but i like them as a tag team. From the fed, i want to consider Xavier Woods or Big E, but i feel they're too over to be boys. But they haven't won any world titles yet, so I'll consider them boys.

Also, as an addendum: Jonathan Taylor Thomas was the “teen heartthrob” avec Disney representative at the show, which is why the “older kid” (Zachary Ty Brian) wasn’t really even asked. And the dude JTT had to compete with for magazine coverage? None other than Elijah Wood. Yes, the very same guy that later went on to portray Frodo Baggins.

Yeah, we'll go with that
Remember when Sable came back as his mistress? After she tried to sue the WWE for sexual harassment? Man wrestling is wacky.
Attitude and Ruthless Agression Era Vince was constantly perving over women young enough to be his daughter.

I’ve always enjoyed this ppv.
Can't wait for KOTR '95.
I think it was never THAT bad to begin with due to it's length (but I'm not unbiased since I also have a lot of nostalgia for this timeframe).

2:15:33 Massive thanks to PUROWAVE for the music video! He's incredible - check out NAKAMURA-WAVE ua-cam.com/video/mXYSYBZxeII/v-deo.html
Purowave at the end was a wonderful surprise to finish off the arc.
I remember watching this live. The feed went out where I live halfway through the Bret/Backlund match, only coming back when the match was ending as Backlund says "yeaaaghh" or whatever. My family and I were lucky.
In his book, Brett completely shit on this match. He had the same complaints that everyone else had.
I still have live PPV recording on VHS. It was a mess. My feed went out during the match too.
I'm surprised there was no Allied Powers vs the Nazis joke snuck in there

His own.

Oh, man, I laughed _way_ harder at this than I probably should have.
The way things are coming to light in 2024…probably Vince’s stash.
That is an urban legend, dismissed by both HBK & Diesel.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas was the “teen heartthrob” avec Disney representative at the show, which is why the “older kid” (Zachary Ty Brian) wasn’t really even asked.
