I hit my first arm bar, first triangle, first S mount triangle after 4 months as a white belt during a open mat today and I can confirm it feels amazing. If you’re a beginner like me, keep working, you’re going to get better!

for the armbar from full guard, i find it most effective to bend the left foot upwards (dorsiflex) oppose to what you did (plantar flextion) for the reason that when you dorsiflex your foot, the muscles of your calves are activated and its harder/impossible for someone to posture up, I would love for you to try it and let me know if you can feel the difference between the two details

To beginners watching this. Armbar from guard is HARD as a beginner and gets your guard passed when it doesn't work (which sucks). Don't get demotivated if it happens to you, it's normal, and it gets easier.

@@jedidoesjiujitsu3177 as lame as this sounds, prioritize. I skated seriously (as in shooting for team spots and pushing for flow sponsors for years) for years and ended up (as we all do) getting injured. I earned a nasty compound fracture in my left forearm, rolled my ankles often, and fractured my right wrist. I can't recall how old you are, but years of hucking myself down stairs, gaps, and rails took a toll on my body from 15-24, and I'm sure it could do the same for you. I felt the injuries later at 27. I just started jiu jitsu, and these injuries from skating definitely followed me. If skating is a career goal, go for it, but if it's just a hobby, definitely don't push the backside flips down the local 7 stair or varial heels off that one loading dock with tons of run up until you're ready.
