DURING previous weight loss attempts, Grace Volsky of Kansas City, Missouri, felt shamed into working out. The 30-year-old would then put the weight back on and at her heaviest, she weighed 333lbs. Feeling disconnected from her body, Grace decided to try again after an awkward trip to Disney World, but this time she took a different approach - no gym, no calorie counting, just self-love. Grace wanted to help others on their weight loss journeys and so she became a life coach. Grace told Truly: “I’ve lost 106lbs without ever stepping foot in a gym.”

Having fun basically! Doing physical stuff you enjoy not only is it sustainable in the long run it is fun too. Working out doesn't need to be treadmills & ellipticals & swinging kettle bells it can be playing 5 a side , tag, trampolining, walks, going out with the dogs just enjoying activity.

That’s just not true. People are not using body positivity as an excuse to stay overweight! They are trying to get to a good place so they don’t have to feel guilty or despise themselves for being alive! Society taught us to hate ourselves no our matter our size! But people who struggle with weight are told they are not worth it and that they are lazy pieces of s ht! Why are you mad if someone learns to love themselves big or small!?
It’s non of your business how people get there, now is it! Also it is not your place to tell someone if they are healthy or not! If you want to do that for a living go get a doctor or dietitian degree! Assuming you are not any of that, for now work on you, instead of judging people! So tired of people like you being all judgmental of people for actually finally learning to love themselves! 🤮

Cut out soda pop and juices. The calories in those are tremendous. Next step, cut sugar intake in 1/2, then cut it out completely. Work your way down to 1-2 portions of carb foods per meal, and eat only 3 times a day. Doing it in phases makes it much easier.

The mental side has a huge part to weight gain. I'm dealing with grief from losing my sister to breast cancer a year ago and my dad diagnosed with cancer a few weeks after her death. On top of that, Covid and I lost my job during the first lockdown. I was gaining weight but I didn't really notice it as I was too wrapped up in grief and shock.
It was only until Christmas that I started to develop problems with periods and ended up in hospital getting a hysteroscopy procedure done. I had my weight measured and was shocked by my weight gain.
3 months later, I have lost 11lbs,my weight has stayed still but I have lost a lot of inches around the top of my legs, bum, tummy and waist as I believe the fat is turning into muscle.
I don't use indoor gyms as I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis and I don't like being indoors but I walk a lot, getting 10.000+ steps daily and sometimes use those gyms you find in parks.
I've also started practicing forest bathing which helps to clear the head and connecting myself with nature.
As long as you are still moving, no matter what activity you're doing, I think that is the most important thing

  • @Marcellus-Wallace

You don't have to exercise to reach your goal weight but you HAVE to exercise for cardiovascular health, which is affected most by being obese. You can lose body fat, but your heart will still function and "look" like an overweight person's heart. I kinda understand why some people would want to do this, as we live in a world of instant gratification, but, there are no shortcuts. Just because you look good/okay on the outside, doesn't mean your insides are okay as well. Good for her though for the effort

@@NieceyWeesey yes! Noticed that too. Hope the walks progress into runs over time as I'm guessing she would enjoy them. She mentioned walking used to be a problem. If she progresses to runs, my presumption is that would boost her outlook even more. A lot of people that I've met (including myself) that did that progression felt very good about it. Its truly a great feeling. But, little by little. 🙂

    • @Marcellus-Wallace
      @Marcellus-Wallace 3 роки тому +1

@Jonathan Hutchins keep at it man. Keep encouraging her too whenever she's not keen on it as well. I don't believe that "fat/big people are ugly and skinnier people are beautiful etc" but I truly believe that losing excessive weight will bring you closer, make you appreciate each other's physical traits even more because you'll be able to see more of your body's natural structure,it'll make you a lot more confident, you'll start taking risks with what you wear,it releases endorphins, really helps in strengthening your relationship because only someone that cares about your wellbeing will push you to be healthy and further get healthy with you and its also obv good for the bedroom. I personally made the mistake of not pushing my ex fiancee enough to take that weight loss journey with me and things didn't work out because we moved in different directions shortly after that. Getting healthy with a partner is important to do together because its closely related to every factor of your life. What time you sleep, how long you sleep, what you eat, what you drink, your environment, smoking cessation, outlook on life, what you do on your free time. But yeah, stick to it👌👍

There are other ways to get in really good cardiovascular shape without running. Strength training is important also imo, and that also can be done without going to a gym. I’m 5’3, 42, and single and can’t stand the thought of a man seeing me naked..even though I have no problem finding a man, I just can’t do it. I applaud her husband for loving her at any size. Sadly, I’ve seen many men who have wives that lose weight and then they leave her for another heavy female. I hope he sticks with her through her journey.. she seems amazing and gives me hope. I’d like to lose between 70 to 90 lbs but I’ll be happy right now to just be 199 and out of the 200’s. I’ve done it before n can’t believe I let myself get sloppy again.

If you are overfat and are experiencing health limitations or illness as a result, it doesn't seem to matter if you are 30 lbs overweight or 100 lbs overweight. When to eat and how much.
I lost 60lbs 15 years ago by listening to the signals/sensations/cues my body gave me. Thin people tend to do this naturally (unless they use smoking or drugs to override their system).
Heavy people tend to emotion eat and to eat with their eyes (needing to feel completely satiated or by needing to finish what's served, etc.).

Hi, guys! Just thought I’d share where I’m at on my lifestyle change journey! I now eat almost exclusively healthy, and I am able to control myself with irregular treats. I exercise daily, especially yoga, light weightlifting, and my stationary bike. I’ve lost over 20 pounds in 2 months and I feel fantastic. I was having headaches frequently, and was mostly sedentary. I was skeptical that I deserved to live a healthy way, but I realized that taking care of your health isn’t optional and everyone deserves to treat their body like we’re supposed to! I wish everyone luck in making their bodies healthier!

Ive just started on a low carb and high fat keto diet because Ive been sick for so long. Im not overweight but I still should go for a walk everyday for my health, and dont . I have fibro and cfs but still manage to do ten minutes of gently excercise at home .I dont think diet alone will give me optimal health.

Exercise actually aids significantly in major weight loss. Especially for heavier people, there is a good chance of gaining muscle off of excess fat, there is alot of toning that goes into exercise and loose skin, when on muscle will look far less excessive and improve many people's confidence in turn. I congratulate her on her weight loss but diet and exercise are both so immensely important in building a kind relationship with ones body after abusing it physically, mentally and emotionally.

Personally I’m too cheap to get a gym membership plus I’m a huge homebody. I would just do about 30-45 mins of a UA-cam workout (along with calorie count) and 5 months later I had lost 70 pounds, currently I’m down 80 and hoping to shake this last 10-15.

I have severe depression too but a few days ago I decided I will just do a 5 minute workout. I felt better after and now I do my 5 minute workout but end up adding more on top. I see the extra workouts as not my mandatory 5 minute a day and because of that, I feel like I've achieved more. I also took baby steps e.g. "today I will just put my mat out" or "Just put your theraband in sight" and it happened organically. The goal is to just not think about it but just do it. Break it up into baby steps and do something you love whilst exercising e.g. listening to music or watching Netflix. Hope this helps :)

I think she just got into the reasons why she overate, then started eating healthy. Emotions are so key. If you’re punishing yourself every day, you won’t get anywhere. Sit quietly and figure out how much you do and how much food you need to be healthy. Find out how to balance three meals and let yourself have an extra every now and then. You can do it, it just takes a bit of planning and research. But above all, it’s a mental change. If you psychologically need to overeat your body will push you towards food. It’s hard, but trusting what you need, not what you fancy eating, it the key. Good luck!
