I Lost 135lbs - Now I'm Braving A Bikini | BRAND NEW ME

28-YEAR-OLD hairstylist Ali Bruch from Milwaukee has lost an incredible 135lbs without stepping foot into the gym. The mother of two was previously classed as morbidly obese at 270lbs, and struggled to keep up with her kids. Battling with binge eating, Ali would consume over 6,000 to 7,000 calories at a time. She told Truly: “I was an anxious eater, whether it was happy or sad, I was binge eating and I didn’t have control over it.” The turning point came on a shopping trip with her cousin, when a rude shop assistant pointed out to Ali she wouldn’t fit a regular dress size and instead should look at the plus size section. Ali started a ketogenic diet, based on high fats and low carbs which resulted in her losing half of her bodyweight. But losing so much weight in a short period of time meant Ali was left with excess skin. Four months ago, Ali had a tummy tuck and breast augmentation, finally feeling like she’s got the body she worked so hard to achieve. “I don’t need to hide in pictures, I don’t need to hide from social events, I just feel so much more confident," she said.

I was over 30 pounds down after giving birth to my daughter. I didn't diet, I actually ate more, but for the first time in years, I took care of myself. I _slept._ Actually 8+ solid hours a night. I drank lots of water, because it's the only thing I like besides coffee, which I had to cut down to one cup a day. I took the time to cook the meals I actually liked (I grew up on a Mediterranean diet, mostly fish, veggies, legumes, lots of soups and that is what my palate appreciates). I made the time to go swimming or relax with a book. I think just the lowering of cortisol levels did it for me (I had finished 3 science degrees in 5 years while working a full time job and doing research in 2 labs before going to my PhD, so I slept an average of 3 hours a night). Every doctor visit my weight went down, and the doctors were never concerned. My pregnancy was healthy, birth was healthy, and beautiful daughter (now 4) is perfect. I wouldn't _diet_ while pregnant, but you can and should change up your lifestyle to be healthier, and it might lead to a healthy weight loss.

Just started at 348 in March. Down to 302 now. the biggest thing for people to understand is that it is a journey and a change of your life. Keto is awesome. I do 20 total grams of carbs a day. I don't subtract fiber or sugar alcohols. I don't eat nuts, fruits, grains, sugar, or starchy veggies like potatoes. Sounds bad? Nope. Only issue I have is some cramps, but a drink mix ha helped curb them at night. You can get everything you need from meat, cheese, good veggies like broccoli and kale, etc. I still have a diet coke on occasions. I will have bunless burgers from McDonad's, Burger King, etc when I'm out and about. I can put down a plate of buffalo wings and a salad. I eat beef jerky, cheese crisps, and pork rinds as snacks. And fill my sweet tooth on different flavors of sugar free jello. My type 2 diabetes is in check and down to 5.0-5.1 A1c from 6.9 in March. Can't wait to visit the doctor and see the other changes. Keto works for many of us. Don't let anyone ever call it a fad. It was the diet to reverse diabetes in the 1800s and then insulin was invented. From bread! Think about that for a minute. The medicine we use to keep diabetes in check is from a starchy food that turns to sugar and fat. Why keep your body on something like that? Why not regulate it with your diet!

Amazing transformation of a gorgeous lady! I previously lost weight doing veganism, which was great for the two years that I kept it up. Going back to the standard American diet...SAD....and quarantine etc had me slowly gain back the weight and so a couple months ago I went keto and lost every single pound that I wanted to and I am at my goal of 126 lbs. I'm loving it because it's such a delicious and satisfying way to eat and I am not starving all the time. I totally relate to how she said that the choice to change was sudden and that it just suddenly clicked....that's exactly how it was for me and I went 100% into it and my motivation was just there al of a sudden....thank god! I'm so happy and love looking my best. I'm fifty and rocking a size four to six. I'm also a cyclist for the last five years so that helps out tremendously. For those who want to do this for themselves right now....GET AFTER IT....you can do it! The whole body positivity thing is great but not if it keeps you stuck at an unhealthy and miserable state so I hate seeing that used as an excuse....sorry, but that's just the truth.

Awesome story, and drives home the point that commitment to a proper diet is 80% of weight loss... HOWEVER, some sort of cardio activity is still super important to overall/cardiac health. Many of my patients are "slim unhealthy" and they are the hardest to covince that they are unhealthy. So even if not in a gym, cardio activity should be done some where. We have to get out of the mindset that skinny means healthy.. but this is still an amazing story.

I do not believe being disrespectful or mean is the way to make someone change their lifestyle, but I do believe that being honest is important. That woman who told her "That isn't going to fit you" may not have been coming from a bad place when she said that. You see this in your grandparents. If you gain some weight, they are going to be the first to tell you "Baby, you are getting fat". It doesn't come from a bad place, in fact it probably comes from a place of love, just a brutally honest one. I myself was over 300lbs and there is no way you can tell me that carrying that much weight is healthy. There were just so many basic things that I just could not do. I took it slow but eventually lost over 70lbs and felt like I had my life back, like my family had their father and husband back. This is an amazing story and she should be so proud of what she has accomplished. Great Video!

I really like these kind of videos. Could watch them all the time. It would be nice to keep up with the people to see their further progression.
