- Installation of a Shifter Shaft Seal on a 2007 Roadking . The same procedure for many other models. Always refer to your workshop manual.
Check my Inner Primary Install Video for Primary and all its contents removal install and torque specs.
On the 6 speed trans this seal needs to be recessed approx 1/8". If you don't drive it in the sealing lip won't be in contact with the shift shaft, which has a taper before the splines.
FWIW
Where do you get the seals from mate
I use OEM bud so Harley have known folk uses other brands like James etc
also those shaft bushings wear out, they get play in them
They sure do its not long before they have a little play in them again
Think that is my problem. I see the whole shift shaft rock before it actually rotates to shift the gear...seal leaking as well.
Are you using a oem harley seal or different brand?
I only use OEM
@@harleyloco1853 that might be a part of the problem. I’ve replaced them once on 2 different bikes with James gaskets seal. Many leak free miles since
@@TheDynaGuy mine is leak free now also
Put tape over the teeth on the end of shift shaft. It will put cuts in seal.
