Concise and clear, with excellent advice. Thanks for posting. Will be tackling my leak soon, armed with this know-how.
I watched this video a week ago not thinking you have the same tail shaft as my truck. I’ve been searching for this seal and bushing for weeks. Thanks!
Great video, with great editing, informative & concise! 👍
What a great video. Thank you so much for creating this period. We had been messing with A stubborn seal and couldn't get it off for anything. After watching your video and using the heat gun. We got it off in less than 5 minutes. Thanks for your help brother if I ever meet you I owe you a cold beer!!!!
I’ve been trying to fix my leak on my dodge truck for a while. This video is very detailed and helpful. Thank you!
Exactly what I needed to see. Thanks for posting
Pretty clean repair. Nice
awesome video. Im gonna do this to both my s10s this winter. and replace the speedo garket.
Sometimes using a spedi sleeve over the yoke works too but on certain T cases it allows the seal a slightly fatter stainless steel surface to to grip.
Appreciate the help
you're back! great video of course
Thanks! I have been crazy busy with my "day job" and haven't had time to edit videos... it's a lot of work, and I'm dedicated to putting out quality, informative, to the point videos... so editing is important to me. I've got a few more I'm working on so hopefully I'll be posting a bit more regularly 🤞🤞 I appreciate your support! THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!
Nice instructions.
Recently bought a 93 with an AT 4l60e. Noticed the smallest drip, tens as small as yours, on the very lip of that tailshaft seal and the seal is dryrotted.
Thanks for this video this is good info, hoping I can repair this stuff w/o having to pull the whole tranny
My only advise would be to put a little silicone around on the outside cover , it will leak from the cover after awhile
The metal is old
One suggestion was worth everything in this video....use the old seal to hammer against the new. Not doing that is exactly what caused my current leak.
Good video bro.
I think that’s my problem with my 400th. One day I drove 60 miles and the next morning my floor was stain with oil and seen it was splattering underneath the car. The drive shaft also has play as I wiggle that rear seal yoke. I have notice the car shaking a bit after driving 30 mil.
Great video
Appreciate you bro
Awesomeness
Great job but you said while you’re there the speedo cable housing seal
Thanks
Many thx
Hi my name is Anthony I have a same truck you have but I put a new wire harness business stairwell lots of small one but now my signal lights I go to the right and the light goes on to the left and the left like was under the right so what should I do
I wonder if there’s the same bushing in the transmission tailshaft of my wife’s Nissan NV3500?
Will the seal leak if the yoke is too far away due to vibrations.
Did you drop all of your transmission fluid when you started, or is there only a small amount in the tail housing when you remove it?
There is only a small amount in it
Nice work. It's too bad they don't make a repair sleeve for the axle yoke like they do for a harmonic balancer. I'm guessing that would make too much sense.
I have seen repair sleeves, but they want about as much as a new yoke.
Great video, I’m doing mine, do you recall when yours was apart, if the output shaft on the trans without the slip yoke on was free to wiggle around? I assume yes, without the support of the slip yoke, but I don’t know, any help is appreciated from you or others scrolling through the comments.
I don't remember honestly... maybe others can weigh in
@@GODSPEEDGarageThanks for getting back to me regardless.
what is that bushing called
I'm not a mechanic.. so I realize my question is going to be stupid... but would that leak smell like gas?
Got the link to parts?
yep! all links are in the description of the video
What trans is that?
Looks like a 700r4
Wobbldy wobble
Drop drop it like it's hot
New Subscriber… Great job 👏🏽!!!
Thanks for subbing!

TH-400 Tail-shaft housing leaked from the two mating surfaces, which were laser straight.
I tried using “Permatex” BLACK on one side of the gasket, on both sides of the gasket, followed by a dry gasket alone.
Nothing worked!
Here’s what did work…
I cleaned off both mating surfaces with acetone thoroughly.
Followed by using “Permatex” 1-Minutes Gasket Maker.
I had a space heater hitting both mating surfaces and the temperature got up to 85*-90*
I applied the 1/8” bead as directed
Then, mated both parts and torqued the bolts to 22ft-lbs.
No gasket was used, so this is metal to metal (aluminum) contact.
I then placed the space heater under the truck where the TH-400 is and put the heater on “HI” Temperature got up to 115*-120*.
36 “HOURS” later, (due to my job) the “Permatex” 1-Minute Gasket Maker did the job.
No more leaks, seeps, drips, or runs at the Tail-shaft housing, or the Speedo-Housing either!!!
Thanks for your video.
Although my experiments took me a month, dropping the tranny fluid 4 times… I finally got it.
Hopefully this information I’m providing helps someone.
Your video helped me.
Great video
