This song is about HIS life and how he approached it. Everyone is different and has to make choices in their life. He made his and stuck with it his way. I am at the twilight of my life and I loved the journey and choices that I took to get here.
The message of the song is that you make your own opportunity. You and only you are responsible or your successes and failures. Take ownership, stand tall, and don't worry about what others may say. Be true to yourself and you will be doing it your own way.
Your voice teacher never focused on the passion and emotion in a performance and I hope they didn’t cheat you of the ability to make something truely yours in your craft and stamp it with the heart that only you can bring. Remember those who can do and those who can’t teach. You can still do what’s in your soul to do! Thanks for the lovely reaction!
the teacher wasn't saying Frank sounds bad or is a bad singer, their point was more that people trying to learn proper singing technique to become a technically good singer shouldn't look to Sinatra's work as a guide because he sang in a very unconventional way that worked great for him but wouldn't work so great for others in structure.
The message of the song to me is to live in a way that won't lead to regrets. Do your own thing, stand up for what you believe in and what you know is right, don't let other people tell you you can't do what you want to do, and when you're on your deathbed you'll be able to look back on your life and be proud of how you lived. Also I don't even know what "sings incorrectly" means. If a person's voice fits the song and it sounds good to the listener then they're doing it correctly.
While your teacher might have said Frank sang incorrectly, his style was to slide into his note. He did this perfectly, always hitting on the note. Never off or pitchy. It was explained to me that he fashioned/thought of his voice as an instrument. In all the times that I saw him, I was always amazed... I went to the Singers Society Dinner for Frank on the celebration of his 80th B'day. He did a duet with Ella Fitzgerald that blew me away. Oh, He Never took a singing lesson.
Nice job young lady, That's life, New York New York, Fly Me To The Moon and The Lady Is a Tramp with Ella Fitzgerald are very good, Louis Armstrong-What a Wonderful World, Hello Brother are very good also
'...to say the words he truly feels' that line has been my mantra in this cancel culture we live in- when my final curtain comes I want to look back and say I never kneeled to things I dont believe in, or was pressured to believe-
You have good intuition. Frank had said that he wasn’t crazy about his most iconic song, that he found it too self-indulgent. But, what really happened is that he had to sing it at every concert and started to actually dislike the song. After singing it hundreds of times, and knowing that the fans demanded it at every concert, the song lost all of it’s meaning as the melody became so repetitive to him. But, we fans always loved hearing it. (Note: the great Paul Anka wrote the lyrics with Frank Sinatra in mind. He said that he would never write, “I ate it up, and spit it out” for himself, or anyone else.)
Women want a man who truly says what he feels, and don’t kneel to words that are being programmed into the mind. At the same time, men truly love women who say exactly what they feel, and are not controlled.
Thanks RMK. You're right. Sinatra himself felt this song was a bit self-centered with a hint of arrogance. But it's so Americana! He connected well with the "common man" of the day. You know--the bread winner of yesteryear. The guy who worked hard to earn a dollar in order to support his wife and family through grit and determination while protecting the little piece of turf that represented his life. This theme shows up in other songs of his and endeared him to a lot of people.
WHY ARE YOUNG PEOPLE SO DISRESPECTFUL!! THE CONSTANT PAUSING DUING THIS CLASSIC SONG KILLS THE EMOTIONAL FLOW OF THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG!! WAIT TILL THE END AND THEN COMMENT!!😡
Thanks for watching! This is a reactions channel; we have to stop the song and comment per UA-cam's copyright issues. If you want to watch the entire song without interruption, you can do so on Sinatra's channel.
Want to hear Sinatra at his best? I’ll send my playlist. Listen to You Are Love to hear him belt almost operatic. Listen for the polished torment in I’m a Fool to Want You, Maybe You’ll be There, and Wee Small Hours of the Morning. Listen to Birth of the Blues to hear his bluesy best of the Columbia years. Listen for the change from soft to bombastic endings in Where or When and To Love and Be Loved. Listen to the difference in his voice between the 2 versions of Old Man River. And listen for beautiful songs like A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, Why Try to Change Me Now, and All the Way. And listen to him sing the crap out of fast songs like It Happened in Monterey and the Coffee Song. Enjoy: ua-cam.com/play/PL5lYMQdkrhZstL-yNg4tacoYO4MHEVEf_.html&si=3O8j67anivAt5cHN
The story that Sinatra liked this song, that it was about his life, is questionable: According to several sources he always thought that song was self-serving and self-indulgent. In 2000, the 1969 release of "My Way" by Frank Sinatra on Reprise Records was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Apparently Sinatra always did it for his fans who liked it. I don't know what to believe here, but I love the soft ending rather than the over the top operatic performances of others. But even Sinatra used to the "operatic big finish" in live performances because he apparently knew what fans wanted.
Sinatra was born dirt poor in New Jersey at a time when pedjucice toward Italians was very prevelant. Your comment about wondering if he realized that not everybody has the opportunity like he did is actually quite ridiculous. He worked his butt off to make it.

For your information, This song was made for him, about his life. And the way he lived it. Written by Paul Anka. About his life.
This song is about HIS life and how he approached it. Everyone is different and has to make choices in their life. He made his and stuck with it his way. I am at the twilight of my life and I loved the journey and choices that I took to get here.
Thanks for watching!
This was originally written in Frace and translated to English by Paul Anka.

Its a cover of a french song (freely) translated by Paul Anka.
The quality of a vocalist like Frank Sinatra is that its so convincing.

Nice reaction 😊
This song was written especially for Frank by Paul Anka, a superstar in his own right. look up some of his songs with Nelson Riddle
Frank overcame plenty. And did it swinging, feared nothing. LoL 😆

Really enjoy hearing your reactions. Spot on! 😁
AND DISRESPECTFUL!! THE CONSTANT PAUSING IS SO RUDE TO THE SONG AND THE SINGER!!

Teachers are teachers because they can't be great at what they teach .....
The definition of a man, in song format.
I would change your voice teacher!

You've got to sing your way.
All due respect to your teacher. Tell them to even come close to belting out that song the way Mr Sinatra did. Then they can critique him
Sinatra is SO NOT Disney???? The greatest legend of the 20th Century ! Please.....
Sinatra was born dirt poor in New Jersey at a time when pedjucice toward Italians was very prevelant. Your comment about wondering if he realized that not everybody has the opportunity like he did is actually quite ridiculous. He worked his butt off to make it.
Please, compare My Way cover by Vanny Vabiola
It's the way to be a MAN.
Que puta manía, con perdón en cortar la canción. Se puede hacer el comentario al final. Es una opinión.
Thanks for watching!
You need a new voice teacher
such a generic out of touch reaction. I think you are too young to truly understand the times and what he was really singing about.
Thanks for watching!
stop interrupting !!!!

May I suggest that you get yourself a new vocal teacher, he/she hasn't a clue.
