I also think during the duet part when they sing it together, when Ramin switches to vibrato it really displays the affect that he is in her mind... he is the one making the music as Phantom. His regular phantom voice is that boomy straight tone melody, but when they are singing together, He is singing like Christine would. He writes her music, she inspires him. He is teaching her how he wants to hear her sing, so mimicking that is important. So he sings like her to show that very important musical relationship.
I’m no singer but I’m obsessed with watching voice coaches react to performances. Often you learn nothing because a lot of them just sit there and say how great everything is or how they didn’t hit a note properly. Here, I actually feel I’m learning something and it’s really very interesting. Keep these videos coming Mary. Can’t wait to see what’s next. :)
Ramin is the best Phantom because he doesn't just *play* the Phantom. He *becomes* the Phantom. He *becomes* the one teaching his Christine the music. I've seen almost every Phantom in some way, shape, or form, but only Ramin has made me really feel (and fear) him as the Phantom.
Completely agree with you! I've seen a few versions, and I left feeling like the Phantom actor was just acting the part, singing the songs, going through the motions. Only Ramin so far has made me actually feel that he also feels what is in the music. He puts so much emotion into each song, and his presence on stage is phenomenal.
The fact that Ramin can’t read music completely amazes me! I play the piano and when I started out I only learned by ear, so that got me used to using my ear and training it. It is still hard though. I have learned to read music since then. I don’t take singing lessons but I want to really badly. The fact that you had the “you are enough” quote and gave it to Sierra is incredible! I look up to both of them so much! I really enjoyed this video, thank you!
Time-lord-jedi Ramin has a HUGE natural talent! I’m sure you do too! but it’s always good to study. If you can start with the piano that’s the best way to learn how to read music. Plus it’s fun to learn to play the piano! There are many apps and inexpensive keyboards out there now so it doesn’t even have to cost a lot. In any case, have fun with your music! That’s wonderful!
I know. I tried to play the piano once but I get easy distracted and I never got around to it. I play more by ear and I'm a theater person so I know most musical stuff.
It’s a testament to your prowess as a teacher - Sierra is DEFINITELY also my favorite Christine. Her phrasing AND acting make one of the most difficult role in musical theatre look effortless. She and Ramon together are magic ❤️
Ramin and Sierra are the best, he will always be my Phantom and she will always be my Christine, my King and Queen, I love everything they do and I love even more what they do together.I wanted you to react more to their work, especially theirs working together, PLEASEEEEEE.......
Caroline domingos da rosa I agree they are already Phantom icons! Yes!!! My series is on legends & icons so that’s why I’m reacting to other legends as well. (I could talk about them for hours!) I hope you enjoy! 🤩
By my limited singing experience, I recognize that tiny space where the high notes have to resonate. But does it work like this to everyone? Because when I hear Sierra singing, and I had the privilege to see it live, it sounds like she has a penthouse in that attic
Broadway Connection haha! Sierra is fantastic! Yes, I am talking about the physics of singing high notes. So it’s a truth. Because the space is so tiny and it’s sparkling so bright the sound might seem huge! Like a Penthouse! If Sierra tried for a very huge space she wouldn’t be able to hit the note. And even if she did hit it, it would be most likely flat and blat instead of sparkle. Thanks for watching!
Ramin has a really fascinating voice. He seems to have some Bel canto in his technique, and at times is very operatic. I think he could make a good Spinto tenor, id love to hear him sing Tosca
"I can't sing" is its own song, jingle, and mantra. I always was enchanted and taken by a proverb, attributed to African peoples, "If you can walk, you can dance; if you can speak, you can sing!" The question to ask oneself, I think, is "What reward do I get by repeating to myself that I can't do such & such?" No possibility of "failing" or being embarrassed or other negative potentiality. Yet what is life for, if not to take those unconscious fears and turn them inside out and go for it, not from the impulse of fear, but rather of love? 💗💗💗🏋🏾♀️💗💗💗 Hope you can venture out, with noother ambition except joy, love, peace ... and healing 🌍
My favorite casting by far. Brava! This past year I had to sing a high C solo in choir, and people wanted to know how I did it. All I could think of was all the times I blasted this song growing up and tried to sing along😂
I think one of my favourite things about this is Ramin’s vocal tone and pronunciation. He has this very robust, full, beautiful voice. He walks the balance between classic and modern with his style as well. He can make such beautiful, rounded sounds without actually rounding them or overdoing it. I know every artist is different and I respect that, but I often hear a very rounded, lengthened, and very traditional “ph-AHN-tom” or a very nasally and almost strained sounding “ph-AYN-tom” from other artists who’ve done this song, but sometimes it just feels very forced, at least for the character. I feel Ramin has just perfected his diction and tone so well that his style feels very natural to the character and the song. Or maybe it’s just the way he plays the Phantom, the unique life he brings to it, that makes it feel so natural. The way he performs Phantom feels almost effortless. It feels classic and operatic in a way, but not so much so that it feels forced or anything, while also remaining modern and pop/rock-ish. I don’t know if that makes sense haha, it’s quite hard to explain while writing. But anyways, he just has such a lovely lovely voice. And Sierra, my god... the love I have for her voice, tone, diction, and how she plays Christine in particular is too much to put into words. They are my very favourite Phantom and Christine, if only for the incredible connection they share onstage and the way they make these characters feel so whole. Watching/hearing the two of them perform is always such a treat. I got chills every single time you pressed play on the video. They’re magnificent. Pure magic.
Not knowing anything about singing, I loved this! I recently became obsessed with Phantom of the opera (and especially Sierra and Ramin) and it was so cool to hear not only hear this analysis but also the inside knowledge you have as you actually know them.
Lucas González so true. Of course it still sounds good and there are live wonderful musicians on Broadway-but all those strings? Wow! Wonderful to indulge 😍
Phantom has a lot of pre-recorded music and also some of the singing is. For example all of the high notes for both Christine and Carllota are pre recorded to save their voices. Also the phantoms part on notes/ prima Donna is pre recorded too. In the original production both of Christine's and the phantoms first parts of the phantom of the opera were pre recorded too as three understudies would be on the ramps at the back of the stage and the leads would take over on the boat.
Mary Setrakian wow! I’m shocked at these statements. I am not used to hearing about pre recorded vocals on Broadway. I have a new found respect for the actresses who play Elphaba in Wicked.

Sierra as Christine has single handedly made me want to learn operatic singing (although I know it will be hard for me as a fifteen year old with no vocal trainings before.) Thank you for this brilliant video!
Mary, found this video of yours after watching today UA-cam's free streaming of "Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary." Your analysis and commentary of Ramin's and Sierra's vocals made me appreciate their performances even more. Musical theater and operas aren't my thing. However, after watching Phantom and enjoying your vocal analysis and commentary, I'm open to watching more theater musicals.
Team Rierra all the way 🙂 Half a year ago, the original Dutch Phantom Henk Poort teamed up with Floor Jansen from Nightwish for this song on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers. Their version is different in the music style but amazing as well.
This was wonderful, Mary. Thank you. 🙏🏼. Your observations and education about what was going on with Sierra and Ramin has enhanced my appreciation and enjoyment of this amazing performance. I feel so blessed to exist in this same time and space where all you creative geniuses also exist. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Proof that having a true technique and knowing how to work around a sickness is Gold. Singing is an ArtForm. Another reason to be in awe of Sierra's talent!
I adore Sierra Boggus. I first saw her during her “Daee Days” series on UA-cam and not only did she have an amazing voice but she also seemed like the nicest person too. I’m also becoming a fan of Ramin. Just watched the Royal Albert Hall performance the other week on UA-cam and fell in love with the entire cast.
Hello Mary. I met you a years ago, when you teaching to Sierra your mantra YOU ARE ENOUGH. Its so tender the way you look at her with proud and love! Good job Maestra, Sierra is the most talented and beautiful person in the world. Inside out. You are eough, you re so enough ,its unbelievable how enough you are! Vi saluto,e grazie !
The best Phantom and Christine imo, I completely fell in love with both their voices when I went to see LND. The final lair of 25th with Hadley as well is just incredible!
I have never seen the full production of POTO but have forever loved certain songs; Think of Me, Wishing you Were Somehow Here Again, and of course, this song. Sierra carries this song so beautifully and is by far my favourite match for Christine and this video highlights her skills so wonderfully! Ramin is fantastic as well, but nothing can beat Sierra's climb at the end to that flawless E - I can't wait to one day see the full production.
I love phantom and its sequel, I adore singing it and I'm getting even better after watching reactions and voice coaches, Opera is amazing and I love how Andrew Lloyd Webber incorporates the rock and opera, it's truly incredible.
If you were her teacher you’re amazing... I never saw the play until they played it on UA-cam about a week ago and I am OBSESSED with Sierra. She was SO GOOD!!! I believed her. You did a good job with her. She is fricken amazing.
Ramin & Sierra are my favourite opera singers. Sierra has a beautiful & well-controlled voice. She was the best Christine ever performed for the Phantom of the opera. I couldn't stop listening to her songs & my favourite is Think of me. Ramin has a very masculine tenor & he too controlled his voice v well. These 2 beloved singers are the best combination the Phantom of the opera ever had.
I really enjoyed this video and your opinions and instructions! I saw Love Never Dies when it played in London for my 26th birthday, It was a big deal because 1. I was in London, I'm from Michigan and 2. It was the sequel to my number one favorite musical. It was one of the top experiences of my life! Ramin and Sierra had such good chemistry. I'm so grateful and honored to have seen them perform together live. I look forward to future videos!
Mary you are the best! Thank you so much for this one, Sierra and Ramin never fail to inspire me, and I needed some inspiration today!! ✨ Going to go work on my sparkle now! ✨💕
I've watched this performance many times before because it's my favorite version, but this analysis made me realize why I like it very much (the style). This is awesome.
Both Sierra and Ramin are forces of nature. They have a beautiful friendship; their hearts are in the right place, and they are down to earth folks. I hope they can weather this terrible covid-19 crisis without too much financial loss since all theater and concerts have come to a screeching halt. And Mary, I checked out the reactions of other master voice trainers on UA-cam and your's was, hands down, the best and most complete!

You're putting into words everything I think about when I hear Sierra and Ramin sing together. Beautiful timbre, extraordinary technique, powerful friendship and chemistry that threatens to explode make for a performance that I'll never be able to forget (and don't want to!). As a music teacher, music lover and enthusiast I'm also in love with how much mutual love and respect you and your pupil Sierra have for each other. And the idea that you can do so much just by being there, connecting to the people and story around you. Beautiful! Thank you, mrs. Mary, for helping the diamond that is Sierra Boggess find her sparkle! And for sharing the same level of appreciation for this spectacle, which, if I had to choose only one performance of a song to listen to all day every day, I would choose.
I really like how they both sing a little bit behind the beat, makes their already excellent diction even better. It’s also nice to hear a soprano who not only isn’t afraid of a little belt, but actually has a nice resonant chest voice. 💙
Gives me goosebumps every single time my son and I were in the audience for 25th it was mind blowing they have such a special bond which made the portrayal of Erik and Christine they did so special. I do wish lord Andrew would allow any film of our London cast for love never dies to be put out on dvd it was fascinating to watch the show develop and mature. Great video! Really helped me understand why I am so mesmerised by this performance every time, from the beautiful singing to the stunning orchestra. Love it! 💕
The 25th anniversary is absolutely my favourite POTO and these two are my favourite duo... but I'm appreciating it so much more now that I'm learning more about the technicals! (my voice is meh, I cannot sing, but I do love musicals). Could you take a look at Sutton Foster maybe? She has an absolutely incredible voice imo, slightly shrill in the upper ranges but she makes it work for her somehow
Amazing content, Mary! All these tips and insights you give are very useful for people like me who always wanted to learn more about how to sing properly!

@@MarySetrakian Sometimes, singing is easier for some people than others. However, a lot of people in theater get a lot of singing parts and can't sing on pitch. I used to do that stuff to get out and have fun, you know? I am trying to be a musician, but I like to sing and dance for recreation.. I just can't get people who start late and act like I don't have any ideas. Some people are annoying more than what I saw in college. They don't like me. Thanks for this, though.
I really enjoyed your reaction to this incredible performance. I was wondering if you had heard of a Dutch program called Beste Zangers - it is a fascinating and very enjoyable format where a group of singers from different musical genres come together for a few days and take turns being sung to by the other artists. Usually they choose to do a cover of the singer "on the couch"(tweaked a bit to add their own touch) or a song which has some particular meaning to that singer. This last season featured, among others, Floor Jansen who is a Dutch singer with the Finnish band Nightwish and Henk Poort who played the part of the Phantom in the Dutch Production. They do a duet which I would love to hear your reaction to. There are some other interesting performances as well (especially Floor's) which it would be interesting to hear your reaction.

Time-lord-jedi that’s cool that you play by ear! That’s definitely a huge natural talent! Bravo!
Thank you so much. I love Ramin's voice so much that I cant pay attention while listening to it. lol
I just love how proud Mary is of Sierra
Sarah Wang I am ! 😀🎶🙏🏽
This performance is 'The Phantom of The Opera' but they're doing 'Music of The Night' with their actions.
It’s a testament to your prowess as a teacher - Sierra is DEFINITELY also my favorite Christine. Her phrasing AND acting make one of the most difficult role in musical theatre look effortless. She and Ramon together are magic ❤️
Thank you for your beautiful words! Sierra is divine ❤️
If you don't sing, that's tough, people make mistakes. Hey, I did BOTH singing/dancing and playing music.
If you don't sing, that's tough, people make mistakes. Hey, I did BOTH singing/dancing and playing music.
Also higher the sound the louder it will ring out
Their chemistry is off the charts in this performance, it draws the air out of the room.
please react to the video of Ramin Karimloo singing TIL I HEAR YOU SING live at OLIVIER AWARDS
Caroline domingos da rosa ah! Great idea! I’ll try to put it in the lineup 💫🎶🙏🏽
@@MarySetrakian please, thank you so much.
YES
🙏🙏❤️
Ramin has a really fascinating voice. He seems to have some Bel canto in his technique, and at times is very operatic. I think he could make a good Spinto tenor, id love to hear him sing Tosca
Teague Olguin awesome observation! Love it!
Yes, but sometimes they sound annoyed..
Past the point of no return is my favorite song.
Yup
i’m back watching a bunch of phantom videos because of the free one and how much i love the music and i keep being reminded that i can’t sing
"I can't sing" is its own song, jingle, and mantra.
I always was enchanted and taken by a proverb, attributed to African peoples,
"If you can walk, you can dance; if you can speak, you can sing!"
The question to ask oneself, I think, is
"What reward do I get by repeating to myself that I can't do such & such?"
No possibility of "failing" or being embarrassed or other negative potentiality.
Yet what is life for, if not to take those unconscious fears and turn them inside out and go for it, not from the impulse of fear, but rather of love? 💗💗💗🏋🏾♀️💗💗💗
Hope you can venture out, with noother ambition except joy, love, peace ... and healing 🌍
Pure magic.
+Hadley is perfectt!!!!!!
Not knowing anything about singing, I loved this! I recently became obsessed with Phantom of the opera (and especially Sierra and Ramin) and it was so cool to hear not only hear this analysis but also the inside knowledge you have as you actually know them.
The thing that shocked me was the finding out ab the restricted orchestra that broadway has due to cost.
Thomas McCarthy yes, the number PHANTOM IF THE OPERA for all the set changes and Christine’s high E. But Carlotta is always live 😀
ALL other Christine is Live. Great trained voices!
Mary Setrakian wow! I’m shocked at these statements. I am not used to hearing about pre recorded vocals on Broadway. I have a new found respect for the actresses who play Elphaba in Wicked.
I love how your reaction to the clip and how you are describing their chemistry. The performance was absolutely stunning!
letterZach thank you!!! I so appreciate you coming by and thank you for your comment! It’s thrilling for me to watch their performance every time as well!
1) I'm not singer .
2) I'm not aware of different notes .
those are my disclaimers.
I've watched this performance around 10 times already. in the beginning of your video i began getting annoyed when i realized you were going to pause it often. that quickly changed. the joy and love that you have for music and performances shows. I began cheesing a long with you. your energy is powerful. continue to continue. thank you.
Mbuotidem Awak Wow! Thank you for coming along for the ride! 🤩🎶🙏🏽
Once I saw this performance with Sierra & Ramin, I bought it right away....they are so powerful in both singing & acting...they are amazing! There aren’t enough words to express the emotions those two brought out in me. My favorite show EVER! You are also amazing! You Are Enough! It’s unbelievable how enough you are!!! Thank you for that one😉 I tell that to my 5 yr old daughter everyday, who also LOVES the songs from phantom & thinks Sierra is the best Christine as well! Please pass that along to her for me...we cannot wait to see her on broadway again soon! Jersey is waiting lol
Kristen Wolak What a beautiful message! Thank you! I’m so glad you’re sharing you are enough with your daughter! Yes, may Sierra and Ramin be in many shows to come! 😍🎶☀️
20 seconds in and I'm already obsessed with you. Would love to hear some memories of your life on bus and trucks as well as Broadway.
Matt Stryker you doll. Thank you! Right now I’m giving some free live voice lessons and answering questions on both my Instagram live page and my Facebook live page. Come on by if you’d like some more stories and if you enjoy singing please sing with me as well! I so appreciate you ! thank you!
Gosh!
Are we all just blessed in this era?
I can add nothing of value here except my humble and heartfelt thanks for sharing of you like this.. *BLESS YOU!* 🎼💗🙏🏾🌍🎶
I was lucky enough to see the 25th live via satellite that Sunday. I’ve loved Sierra and Ramin since they were in rehearsals for Love Never Dies.
Just stumbled onto your channel. I'm not a singer or an actor. Just an appreciative AUDIENCE member.
This is wonderful having you explain the process of what these amazing artist are putting forth. Now I've learned something I never new before. It makes listening and watching all the more incredible to witness. Thank you so much for doing this. It is so appreciate! 💞👍💞
Thank you! I'm thrilled !
Ramin and Sierra are by far in my top ten of favorite pairings in phantom. When I saw the show in NY in 2015 I had only missed Sierra by a few weeks.
Sierra as Christine has single handedly made me want to learn operatic singing (although I know it will be hard for me as a fifteen year old with no vocal trainings before.) Thank you for this brilliant video!
Wonderful! Be sure to pick up my book on Amazon, SING, FIND YOUR TRUE VOICE. You’ll get a great head start at 15 years old!
Team Rierra all the way 🙂
Half a year ago, the original Dutch Phantom Henk Poort teamed up with Floor Jansen from Nightwish for this song on the Dutch TV show Beste Zangers.
The thing is Sierra was sick before that performance
Proof that having a true technique and knowing how to work around a sickness is Gold. Singing is an ArtForm. Another reason to be in awe of Sierra's talent!
I adore Sierra Boggus. I first saw her during her “Daee Days” series on UA-cam and not only did she have an amazing voice but she also seemed like the nicest person too. I’m also becoming a fan of Ramin. Just watched the Royal Albert Hall performance the other week on UA-cam and fell in love with the entire cast.
Only one word to describe Sierra and Ramin -- WOW. Thank you for the technical analysis!
At 10.30 I thought when she follows his hand with her eyes it was meant to symbolise that she is like a puppet and he is the puppet master...
This Royal Albert Hall anniversary version is by far my favorite performance ever! Ramin and Sierra are perfection together ❤
These two are definitely my favourite phantom and Christine. And wen they sing together it's just magical 😍
You can now watch the full version of poto 25th
Its on UA-cam
Never heard of these two but Ramin is amazing! Really dynamic.
Omg!!! You trained Sierra Boggess? Wow.. Sierra and Ramin are my favorites.
No she didn't
I love phantom and its sequel, I adore singing it and I'm getting even better after watching reactions and voice coaches, Opera is amazing and I love how Andrew Lloyd Webber incorporates the rock and opera, it's truly incredible.
If you were her teacher you’re amazing... I never saw the play until they played it on UA-cam about a week ago and I am OBSESSED with Sierra. She was SO GOOD!!! I believed her. You did a good job with her. She is fricken amazing.
Have you watched all the broadwaycom videos with her on here? If not, you must! You will fall head over heels!
my god, how did Mary not cry watching this performance? just in this analysis video I cried 6 times with the song 😭😭❤
I've watched this performance many times before because it's my favorite version, but this analysis made me realize why I like it very much (the style). This is awesome.
Uncle Bayek thank you! I’m thrilled! 😍🎶🙏🏽
Both Sierra and Ramin are forces of nature. They have a beautiful friendship; their hearts are in the right place, and they are down to earth folks. I hope they can weather this terrible covid-19 crisis without too much financial loss since all theater and concerts have come to a screeching halt. And Mary, I checked out the reactions of other master voice trainers on UA-cam and your's was, hands down, the best and most complete!
mike leavy They are forces of nature! They are both quite busy during this crazy quarantine. Yes let’s pray that Theatre comes back with a roar. And thank you for your beautiful words! Stay safe and be super well ☀️🎶🙏🏽
@@MarySetrakian We'll get through and be better and stronger. We're throwing everything we've got at this little bugger and evolution will favor us over it in the end. Humans are a tough species. We'll have new medicines but it will be theater, music, and the arts that will heal our souls and make us feel truly alive again. I admire your work, you have a sweet soul and really know your craft! And you stay safe too!
I have not got a clue about music or singing but I love both Ramin and Sierra, and I really enjoyed listening to your feedback and reaction! You looked so excited and proud watching it too which made it even better :)
Jessica Woodall You made my day! Thanks for watching! 😍🎶🌟
chills all the way!!!!!!! love them both!! They are the best phantom and Christine!! And i also love your tips and comments along the way!! Thank you
OriginalTsipoura thank you! I’m thrilled! 🙏🏽🎶🌟 Yes, they are exquisite!!! ❤️
Have you reacted to the version of this song sung by Floor Jansen and Henk Poort on Beste Zangers? Poort is the original Dutch Phantom and Floor is a heavy metal singer who also happens to be a really good classical soprano. It's def worth watching
I totally agreed with this....
Super informative video that really helps one appreciate the work that went into this performance. Thanks so much for making it!
You are wonderful, Mary! This video taught me so much about technique and emotional connection, and for that I am grateful. Thank you for sharing!
Natalie Noack I’m so thrilled to hear that! Thanks for your feedback and thanks for watching! Many more to come! 😍🎶⭐️
@@MarySetrakian Yay!! Can't wait!
Natalie Noack every Wednesday & Sunday! Stay tuned! 🤩
Mary Setrakian Awesome!! 🎶☺️
I know nothing, and now I know something, and appreciate it even more, thank you Mary
So fun to listen to this fine lady's experiences...nothing better.
Pamela Parzych thank you 🙏🏽 I’m having soooo much fun with this series. Nothing better 😍🎶💫
Fantastic presentation! Thank you for the shout-out to the strings, Mary! We violinists love joining all of you! (Ragtime | Beauty and the Beast, Los Angeles)
For me they are the ultimate Phantom and Christine. So glad you and Sierra met Mary
Just this past Saturday I had the opportunity to see Phantom of the Opera live - beyond the 2004 movie and having never purchased or seen the 25th anniversary recording of the performance at Royal Albert Hall, this was the first ever time I had seen a live production of it - and it just astounded me! I had seen this video in my recommendations for a while and I’m only just now watching it. Your tidbits and notes on this performance and song especially makes me appreciate and enjoy it all the more. Looking forward to seeing more episodes like this 💖
Naomi R wonderful! I’m thrilled! Thank you so much for watching and be sure to check out the seven other videos I’ve already done. I’m having a blast! Warm wishes, Mary
They are my favourite Phantom and Christine, I’d love to play Christine someday, it’s my dream. ☺️
Your reactions and observations are so on point and amazing. Such a complete vocal coach, with true knowledge of singing and music!
You should definitely react to Lea Salonga...
I just bought the 25th Anniversary after watching it on UA-cam. I'd never had the chance to see it until then and I gotta say it's the only time I've ever actually been brought to tears over this show. They are truly magnificent and getting to feel an ounce of their energy on stage like that is overwhelming to the senses and I love it.
Oh my gosh I just love the 25th anniversary to me it’s the best cast for that show! 💜💜
I just love a Ramin oh my gosh ❤️❤️
Dear Mary - I adore, Adore, ADORE Sierra!!! She not only has a stunningly beautiful God-given voice, but a stunningly beautiful face and soul, too!!! The pure joy and gratitude of life radiates from her face as she sings. That, in and of itself, is a gift! As her teacher, you have contributed significantly to that "stunning beauty", and I am forever appreciative of you!!!
Sierra is indeed our gift!!! Thank you for your beautiful words! 😍🎶🙏🏽
Sierra Boggess is fantastic in Phantom and as Ariel, great video!
Phantom of the opera is my favorite musical, Ramin Karimloo and Sierra are my favorite phantom and Christine 😊
OMG i love your reactions and way you strategize about the way there singing. Also of course I was totally freaking out this whole video because they are my two favorite singers and phantom and christine, and I have watched them and loved them ever since I was 5 (im 13), I want to play christine daae on broadway when im older. I love to sing opera (sierra boggess and maria callas are my two favorite lady singers) and that is my favorite performance of theirs on youtube!!!! I wish you were my vocal teacher!♡♡♡
~julia h
I really enjoyed this video. I’ve been singing all my life (mind you, not operatically!), and I found the analysis interesting and informative. Sierra and Ramin are truly incredible together!
Thanks a lot for this wonderful upload with all your revealing explanations. You must be a very good vocal teacher and actress.
I heard her for the first time about a week ago and was blown away by her talent.
It's so good to see and hear Ramin and Sierra sing together even though it's on UA-cam.
What a lovely video! I'm studying classical and musical theatre technique in University right now (although as a mezzo I'll never get to sing this gorgeous song). I love the different concepts you have for explaining technique! I've never thought of going higher as a triangle before and will be sure to try that!
Sierra's crystalline notes are so pure and brilliant that they are blinding. I've heard few to match her command of her voice and none to exceed her.
I like seeing all these teachers on UA-cam, like the history teacher watching personal history videos and now this.
She has an absolutely incredible voice imo, slightly shrill in the upper ranges but she makes it work for her somehow
here for the milk tea great idea! She is definitely a current Broadway icon!
Amazing content, Mary! All these tips and insights you give are very useful for people like me who always wanted to learn more about how to sing properly!
Fernando Oliveira Thank you, I’m thrilled! I’ll be releasing new videos every Wednesday and Sunday so keep posted. I’m having a blast! Thanks for watching! 🤩
I saw you as Madam Giry!!! I have the same program and it's you!
Oh my gosh! Thanks for letting me know! I just saw this now. What a special cast that was. Thank you! 🙏🏽🎶🌹
Just watching the 25th anniversary now and Ramin can also hit some pretty high notes!
Mary, you are so insightful and charming. And how lucky you are to work with Sierra, who is astounding
You appear as a natural teacher, a wonderful gift, I don’t know anything about singing but the way you talked through the scene in a easy to understand manner, was excellent, thank you.
amazonia amazonia thank you for joining me here! I’m thrilled you’re enjoying it! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I've seen plenty of coaches and teachers watch this, but I think I've gotten the most put of this one. I appreciate the explanation and in depth analysis of the sing and how they sing.
I appreciate you! Thank you for watching! 🙏🏽🎶😍
I do not know this to Royal Albert Hall aniversary realy and i loved in Sierra Ramin and your play! You show me something big on stage! Gratigs from Poland and thank your team!
If i recall she was sick this day and singing for ALW as well. What a professional and beautiful voice and artist. ❤️🎶,
I’m glad UA-cam recommend this video to me. Just finished watching 25th anni show. It was amazing.
thank you for your amazing reaction and detailed insight into the secrets behind their performance.. and so apt that only a few weeks later in this challenging time, that same iconic pairs performance in the 25th anniversary show was streamed on youtube to the world for the first time ever.
Gary Lee thank you so much! And isn’t it wonderful that during this quarantine time we are getting some gifts like the spectacular talent of those two and that amazing 25th Anniversary performance. The best performance ever of Phantom of the Opera in my opinion!

Brillant reaction Mary i did see those live in 2013 in London was cryining like a fool in this part Brilliant Performance from them both !
