The Final Lair is my favorite song/scene from Phantom! Wishing is a lot easier for me to sing than Think of Me because I connect to it a lot more. I just get too in my head and technical when I try to sing Think of Me, mostly because of the cadenza!
Well.......I STILL think Sarah Brightman has the edge,as the music was written specifically for HER voice by her then-husband,Andrew.L.Webber.But-even Webber himself ranked Sierra as the best one since his wife played it.Sadly Sarah's voice has changed over the years-it is not quite as supple as it used to be.When she sang at the 25th Anniversary of "Phantom",it was still amazingly good--yet,I did notice she had lost just a bit of "musicality" in her voice.Age DOES catch up to us all.
Thank you so much! I’ve always had difficulty understanding importance of the chest voice. The pyramid explanation finally made a lightbulb go on for me.
I realize this video is 2 years old already, but I just found it and you! I'm a vocal coach/teacher and accompanist in the NY Metro area, and I have to say you are a delight to watch and very informative. So many of your tips you give in this video alone, I use as well. You also have a beautiful voice yourself! I'll be checking out more of your videos now. You definitely got a new subscriber! BTW, has anyone ever told you, you remind them of Virginia Madsen? 🙂👍🎵🎶
Thank you for this wonderful analysis. I’ve lost track of the number of Phantom of the Opera performances I’ve been to over the years from NY to Toronto, etc. (Including Paul Stanley of Kiss playing Phantom when Toronto closed out the show in late 90’s at the Pantages Theatre). I always thought Sierra during the final part of the song was so much more intense with almost an angry defiant tone in her interpretation compared to Sarah Brightman. Last time I saw on Broadway was Ali Ewoldt as Christine right before pandemic. Different Christine, always fantastic. My favorite song, this one tied with Music of the Night.
Sierra Boggess of course is incredible, but it’s really a shame you never got to play that part.. Your voice is so beautiful, you would have been a phenomenal Christine!! 💖 Loved your analysis too!! New subscriber here after this!
Hey Chelsea! Is there a “trick” to reaching the big E at the end of Phantom? Any recommendations for stretching up to the note/ singing it in a healthy way? Is the note recorded for every show? Would love to see a video on this.
personally, Music Of The Night is my favorite (I know it's a cliché, but the melody is sooo beautiful and i luuuve the musical irony of it, how it sounds so innocent but then he's seducing her with these sensual lyrics🤣), but yeah Wishing You Were Somehow here Again is sooo underrated. It's definitely Christine's *moment*
Fascinating reaction and analysis. You really know your stuff and you really know how to convey your thoughts in an engaging and entertaining manner. My request is for you to do a reaction to Lucy Thomas. Her latest release is Unchained Melody but she has done a great many covers and originals in the musical theatre and classical crossover genres as well as the pop and jazz genres.
Has a mezzo-soprano ever sung the role of Christine? The songs are in my range and I can sing them comfortably, but I've been told I have a warmer tone
You said that singing "Wishing you were somehow here again" would be too hard for you......I don't know--the samples you sang sounded PRETTY GOOD to me..........
I truly enjoyed your analysis. This is my favorite song from Phantom. Here is another performance that I like even more. There is something of a set that includes a headstone of her father that she plays to. I so agree Sierra is a gift from heaven. ua-cam.com/video/_T0ME2xrP2g/v-deo.html
I watched her live in 2006 in Vegas. I know the place was constructed for its acoustics but I'm 99% sure that she wasn't mic'd. The way her vibrato echoed through the hall was unreal. Honestly kinda ruined musicals for me lol. Nothing else comes close...
I don’t like the range in her vibrato. Her technique is impeccable and her acting and she’s perfect and gorgeous BUT… for me personally in my personal opinion (I repeat personal) her vibrato is too pitchy. The range is too broad and it makes a lot of stuff sound just a bit sharp to me. Julie Andrews is always spot on and her vibrato seen on a chart just stops short of both the sharp and flat, I’d be interested to see sierra’s on a chart and I would not be surprised to see the upper range of her vibrato hitting consistently just above the sharp. Otherwise she’s perfect
Please React to: Morissette - Could You Be Messiah (Official Music Video)ua-cam.com/video/ghI8HLG_JuM/v-deo.html, this is the most beautiful voice and song i have ever heard, make goosebumps,so emotional and shed a tear😢💕🙏...
I’m so glad this is someone else’s favorite song! It’s so underrated.
It's the best in the show- i think!

she is my absolute favorite!! also your pyramid metaphor is sooo helpful!!
I'm so glad!
Sierra Boggess is a dream! And your voice is beautiful Chelsea!

I’m playing Christine in phantom of the opera at my house on Saturday 17 of July
Someone here in 2022. Sierra Boggess is my favorite. Great that you chosed this song. Its so beautiful.
I heard this as a father of two young daughters and it tore the shit out of me. I felt she was singing it to every father.
To me Sierra Boggess as Christine Daae is like Julie Andrews as Maria VonTrapp...they own those roles.

THANK YOU!!! I love you on TikTok and I love Sierra. Having you discuss her Wishing, which is a song I think she is pure perfection on, is great!
thank you so much!

Great reaction video! Awesome insights and fun to watch. And yes, Sierra is a Goddess.

Sierra is my favorite Christine! Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again is definitely my favorite Christine song
Your comments are perfect. Thank you. The comments about the breathy mess that is a chestless voice are spectacular. Thanks again.
You have an amaaaazing voice! A queen!
Y’all are both adorable.
Love this song!
Music of The Night with Ramin was my favorite.
Think of me is my fave! Could pls react to her part of your world, shes wearing white, its live anniversary show. Thanks!

Great reaction.
Love Lisa Vroman, too.
I’d love to hear you vocal react to music of the night with either John Owen Jones or Ramin Karimloo
This is one of my favorite songs but I do like music of the night too 💙
Please review Sierra singing "Part of Your World" on GMA. Thank You.
You said that singing "Wishing you were somehow here again" would be too hard for you......I don't know--the samples you sang sounded PRETTY GOOD to me..........
Oh i thought this was the 25th anniversary. But thanks a lot. Nobody has reacted to this song before
I would love if you react to the title song by ramin karimloo and sierra bogges 🥺🥺
Btw, your voice is incredible!🌹❤
Also go the distance Michael Bolton live!

Sierra is gorgeous but her pronunciation is odd in many words
