I heard it’s new and thought Wow he bought something new, then I realized it was Fred video and said, wait he said it’s new, not I bought this new. Fast Fred E bought what someone told him was new on EBay again, lol. The answer to mark backed up my thoughts. It did a really nice job cleaning up the tracks and it was a great review. Too bad they don’t make one that cleans between the contact points of the turnout.
Yes, Frugal Freddy bought something NEW off eBay. He has something else NEW coming later in the week. I sold about $1,200 of my BNSF stuff on eBay before leaving NH. Of course I didn’t net this much. ☹️ No profit/loss statement will be published. Freespending Freddy got carried away bidding last winter. It all wouldn’t fit on the layout. I brought back items that didn’t sell and they are back on eBay. Goal this winter is to not spend more than I net from sales. 🤔. OK, it’s a goal not a law…
Great video Fred and those rails get dirtier than we anticipate. That's a nice track cleaning tanker. Where'd you get it from? Thanks again Fred for sharing another great video with us! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Shawn 😀. I got it off eBay. I setup an automated search as HO size is sorta hard to find. One finally popped up and I grabbed it. About $200 but will save me lot of time on the two layouts.
Whoa! The same surname as mine! My wife's parents lived in Millsboro, DE until a year ago. After seeing the $200 price tag on that CMX cleaner, I'll pass. Cheers, Bob Powell
I think I’ll get good use from it on the 2 layouts. I spent couple of hours this afternoon with AnyRail working on a plan for new layout with helix. I’ll talk about this in next video. Stay tuned…
I'm glad it worked Fred , I never used these. Another one but it's not brass is a Track Cleaner is Atlas i seen them in their catalogs. The trains always get stuck, stop at the switches. Not bad at all Happy model railroading Fred.
Thanks Harold. Several years again I tried a Walthers track cleaner. It would catch on my snap switches. I tried to trim off the sides slightly to clear the switch. Cut it too narrow so then it just dropped down into the track and stuck. Threw it in trash. 🤬🤬🤬
Hey Fred, great product review! I believe I'll get that CMX and try it. Been using the track eraser to clean my 5x16' layout. Yours is really coming along and big change from a few years ago. I am disappointed, though, that there was a distinct absence of cursing and yelling when the engine stalled! LOL Happy Rails to you. Bob (upstate NY)
Thanks Bob 😀. Yes, this layout is way different than the past one. I sorta miss all the industries that were on the old layout. Stay tuned, I’m sure there will be @#$#🤬 in the future.
Thanks Curt 😀. I use Peco turnouts. I’ve had trouble with both the Insulated and the Electro frog versions. The connection is just not reliable for me in my garage. Dust I assume. Almost no problems with them on the NH layout in the basement. Much cleaner.
Fred I have the IHC brother over 30 years old works similar to the CMX cleaner, this is on my wish list, but my brother version only cost me 10 bucks , you are back in the saddle
These CMX machines are outrageously expensive. $200 for new. I watched for this on eBay for a long time looking for used. I recently sold excess BNSF cars and models on eBay to get money to buy it and a FEW other things.
Fred. Wonder how the Bachmann track cleaner vs CMX ? Bachmann is way more affordable to modelers present day. I don't own either track cleaner to test them.
Not sure how they compare. The research I did indicated that this was the best. Expensive for sure - $200. It will save me a lot of time on my 2 layouts plus I should be able to resell it when I drop out of the hobby.
I have the same cleaning car, I used denatured alcohol and love how it works.
Thanks for the info on alcohol. 👍

I thought about this purchase for a long time. Less than a locomotive.
Running nicely after the cleaning!
I think I got the outside track good. In the morning I’ll reload and work on the other tracks.
Glad it worked for you. Dave and Kris have one. They swear by it. Now that the track is all clean, you won’t get dirty ripping it all up …. 😂

Hi Mark.
@ Derek? How did you get here?

@FredE528 Oh no Fred . 😧 🤬📯😂😂🤣🤣
Not the first mistake I made ….or the last…. 😀

@@FredE528 Haha, one can only hope!
Great teaching video. I have some Atlas switches that do the very same thing. I will try your technique. I would be very happy if it takes 4 tries. 😊

@ I should do a video on my $10 cleaning car , over $300 in Canada
I have the same cleaning car but it takes two locos to pull it
I haven’t tried it on my incline yet so maybe I’ll have to add another loco.
I have one and it is fantastic, but I push it with my loco as the engine pulling it is getting dirty wheels
Good idea. I was concerned that it would slip on my incline with wet track.

@@FredE528 I understand. Just curious about the Bachmann . Will pick that one up when I can to test. Will share results with viewers.
