Great insight into how railways work. A perfect video on a perfect day!
@@KennDungate thank you, it was a good day for sure
Hi Tony. Sorry I missed the live premier last night. This was a great video and fun watching what happens after a train stalls. You almost had to flag the crossing for any motorist's showing up during the reverse move , that would have been fun and a heroic thing possibly saving a life. Good thing the help arrived in time and got the train moving again. Excellent video Tony.
@@MikeG42 thanks Mike. Have yourself a great weekend.
What a Saturday morning treat this was! Love something with a story. Awesome mix of power. Beautiful scenery. So many challenges on the CPKC system. Do the ACUs have a reputation or is this just poor luck? A genuine thanks for this on Thanksgiving weekend Tony! A truly stunning production!
@@pjohnston7775 thank you for the kind words unfortunately the ACU’s have not been very reliable. I know several engineers who work for CPKC and they don’t like them particularly on grades.
Hi Tony. thanks for sharing. Caroline from the uk.
@@carolinecleaveley-q1r your welcome
Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Excellent, Tony. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Cheers, Jack
Wow! What an awesome video...and very informative! Thanks! 🤩 Love the chatter! ☺Yes, he was still going really slow at the end even with the extra power on the front!☺Guessing the made it safe and sound!☺
@@pixiesweeney6535 thank you Pixie, it was interesting to see and hear the process
Thanks!
@@pjohnston7775 thank you so much!
Hey Tony, very nice catch. If they would of had to double they'd still be there for awhile. Sure isn't like it was when I started hey bro. Very nice,
Mike
@@TheDirtyRam thanks Mike, it was an interesting process
Great video, almost 10 years since I retired from CP and at least 20 since I worked the Albert North desk.
RTC/HCA
@@hcakre thank you glad you enjoyed it. I tried my best to capture the information without boring people to death.
I'd say that pickup with the trailer got lucky when the rear unit cleared the crossing!!
@@pbear6251 yes for sure. I think the crew actually assumed that that crossing was still blocked by the train.
Nice video.👍
Nice! Thanks for the narration and comments.
Fall Scenery!
@@jimshowalter9522 your very welcome, the colors really look great there
Wonderful fall video Tony
@@gburtshawca thank you very much
They have to back the whole train to a level grade to get a new start on the climb? Were other trains delayed? Love the topography and fall colours. Spectacular video. Educational 👍
@@johndowner2196 yes correct they needed to take a run at the hill. That subdivision only sees about four trains a day so it’s not very busy.
Thats just over one car length of slack, its no joke
@@HighBall-wt8jp ya, lots of slack in a big long train like that people don’t realize. Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend.
Great vid! Do you know how the “cruise control” that the locomotives are starting to use now work?
@@zacmoore6209 are you referring to PTC?
No I believe it’s called trip optimizer
@@zacmoore6209 oh yes, I have heard about that. I don’t know a lot of details. Hopefully somebody else will chime in.
TOP is given to section men (engineering services ) not train crews. That is just a work clearance to the train.
@@trevorsenetza5692 OK thank you for that information. I’m learning as I go.
@@TonyVRailfanningno problem
Beautiful video but not sure about the sound. Seems all wrong like a backing track or something
@@HOWNDOG66 you were hearing the scanner conversation from the crew and Railroad traffic control
@@TonyVRailfanning thx for replying. It’s the train movement sounds. It appears canned and not matching the visual. I’m guessing you’re using sound not recorded in sync with the camera.
@@HOWNDOG66 no this is all live. All the sounds you’re hearing is recorded on a professional Stereo microphone.
