Amazing! One of my favorite parts of his workshop is that huge, clunky soldering iron that contrasts so sharply with the tiny, delicate precision of everything else! But in his hands it’s the equivalent of an artists paintbrush! The massive power pack to test the locomotives comes in a close second, looking like something out of Frankenstein’s lab, but performing wonderfully! Possibly my favorite UA-cam video of all time!
A large but thin iron quickly solders the spot without melting previously applied solder tacks, then he wipes the final tack all along the section very quickly , holding the iron too long on the joint, the whole thing would unsolder instantly with thin metal like this.. very skilled !

Thank you for giving us this amazing video. This person demonstrates superlative skills in metalworking and his attention to detail is deeply impressive. My late father was a lifelong fan of model trains and he would have wept to see the intricacy and beauty of this locomotive.🙏🏻😀
How is everything in Japan made so much better? The craftsmanship and everything is beyond world class. Even down to clothing, swords, their karate dogi, engineering work and everything just so so much more superior. I bet that transformer he's using is as old as I am and still working perfectly.

Scratch built brass model trains have been a thing for a century, there's a very long history throughout the world of them. America and britain in particular have quite the vibrant scene.
I worked in an aerospace company for 40+ years and was their top finisher when I retired, so watching this man work gives me such joy it’s beyond words.I wish I could be with him! Wow!

It would be great for a use case like this with all that brass and lots of subassemblies that need to be joined separately without disturbing parts already fixed. It looks like he’s almost using the solder as a tack weld or glue, though, with how fast he applies it and without apparently any heat going into the workpieces. He’s clearly got his workflow dialed in and I can’t argue with the robust end results.

One of my favorite Japanese steam engines. I could’ve sat here for months, watching this fella build these beautiful models and never got bored. As a person who owns several HO scale brass models, I finally see how much time, effort, and love these models get. Thank you both to the person who filmed this, but the artist building such a beautiful model!
Truly a beautiful engine built by a master artisan things like this are rare and not appreciated by the masses in our mass produced/disposable society. Hopefully he is passing this craft along to others to continue so that these wonderful engines can be acquired by those that value them.
Precision engineering at its best..I only had a British model when I was very young but this is incomparable...I sincerely wish the Master craftsman all the very best in his skill and may he be blessed. Words cannot express my feelings.

When I read the title "Model Train Making", I immediately though "cool-looking tiny plastic trains". I was not prepared for the level of metalworking craftsmanship for such giant model trains.
It was a joy watching and hearing the sounds as this master worked. But the most precious moment in this video was when he smiled towards the end. GOD bless this young soul. 🙏🙏🙏

組み立て技術を賞賛するコメントが多いですが本来見るべきは実物写真を見て、実車の図面を読み、それをスケールダウンして図面に落とし込む能力、素材を加工しイチから部品を作り出す技術こそが素晴らしいと思っております。

作る時も一つ一つにあった工具や機械を使い はんだをつける作業あのようにするのですね

Patience is the key! I would probably have the skill to do this (or could learn it), but no where near the patience needed to do it.
Of all the amazing things just showed in this video, my favourite has to be his expression when testing the locomotive.
