Hi Jennifer, All I can say is Wow. I have watched perhaps 5 or so of your videos now and not only are they amazing in regard to teaching, instruction, and production values but I've realized that there is something bigger to you. You remind me of some titanic figures: Richard Proennecke, Sir David Attenborough, Bob Ross, Julia Child, and of course Mr. Rogers. All of these people brought their viewers on journeys of discovery and learning. When I watched each one of them, I felt as though he or she were talking directly to me and that I was special, that there was nothing else in the world that I should be doing but listening and learning at that moment and for however long I watched. You also achieve this with a genuine thoughtful approach and a kindness that makes it through the UA-cam screen. Jennifer Maker comes at very important moment in our time. During this time of uncertainty with parents stretched so thinly, stressed, concerned and afraid, and with families suffering the effects of school lock down, so many children have been left adrift in a sea of instability. I wonder if you would ever consider creating some short videos for Children? I remember when I would watch Mr. Rogers as a child. I was held captivated by his kind demeanor and the short adventures that he would bring me on to meet new people and characters on his show. Tying my sneakers was monumental but Mr. Rogers helped me. Mr. Rogers provided a safe haven for children. Mr. Rogers was on my side. I think that you could do the same. He had his icon red sweater and blue sneakers, you have your wonderful aprons - I have noticed them! Anyway, what do I know, but I think that if you made a craft video for children (something as simple as cutting out paper figures with little girl/boy scissors), with your kind hearted narration.... well, I think that you would become as important as Mr. Rogers. And I think that you would break the Internet. I wish you all the success in the world and I will be watching more of your videos. Thank you for all you do!
Jamie, I am humbled by your comment! What a sweet and thoughtful thing to write to me. THANK YOU! I also adored Mister Rogers and when I first began making videos here on UA-cam a little over three years ago, he was the first thought in my head and I looked to his own programs for inspiration. He was likely the first person who taught me in this way as a child (ie, a broadcast video), which is why I thought of him when it was my turn to teach others in a similar way. UA-cam is today's PBS in many ways. :) And while I have thought many times of specifically teaching children, I continue to choose to primarily teach adults instead. But I try to teach and guide the INNER CHILD in adults. I don't say this out loud, but this indeed is my focus. Adults are just big kids, after all, and in many ways I am just as careful in how I teach adults as I would be with how I teach kids -- using intentional, non-confusing words and techniques that are clear and easy to understand and learn, and full of positive messages. And as it turns out, children also watch my videos and I love that. I've met many children who watch my channel -- I met one just the other day and it was such a treat! And because I am already talking to the inner child in adults in my videos, I also think this makes me able to talk to children like I would talk to an adult and give them the same respect they deserve. Thank you again, Jamie, for the wonderful note! And thank you for watching my videos! It brings me great joy to know I am helping others do more, be more, and craft a life they love.
Thank you x1 million! No one else is beginning at "once upon a time" and I appreciate you sharing details. I am a newbie with brand new Cricuts and Silhouette (still in the box). I haven't begun yet but have many questions. Your simplicity is so helpful. Love & Kisses from Ohio!

You are amazing!! I purchased the same materials you used and watched this tutorial and executed all the steps and I have successfully created my first stencil!! Thank you so so much!!
Thank you for this information! The custom cut information about how to set it correctly is going to save a lot of frustration I'm sure! And creating the custom cut tab will save me from trying to remember how to set it anytime I want to cut a new stencil!
It looks like the custom cutting settings you suggest are for a fine point blade - just wondering if you have tried cutting the craft plastic with a Deep Cut blade?
Thanks so much Jennifer, I ave used so many of your videos to get me going with my cricut maker. You are so clear and step by step, and so very useful.
Thanks for the instructions on how to create the custom materials settings. I believe your settings were for a Fine Point blade, and I experimented with a Deep Point blade using a pressure of 250 and a single cut on the craft plastic and it worked well.
@@JenniferMakerdid you use the knife blade or which blade I have a circuit maker and the .007 same as you use , but it cut into my mat on 350 and 4 passes ???? It cut thru my mat

This is where those packs of paint palettes from Dollar Tree come in handy.I was using a heated stencil cutter to make custom stencils. This method with a Cricut is a lot quicker. Thanks for the tutorial Jennifer!
I have used edhesive shelf paper from Walmart to do stencil's and the more permanent stencil's I went to Dollar Tree and bought cheap cutting boards and school folders that were made of plastic I just cut the pockets off and who is left with a piece close to 8 X10 and I used the poster setting to cut the plastic it worked really well and was cheap
What are they called at the dollar Tree? Cutting boards? Or are they placemats? I really want to try to make stencils but am on a budget for making things. The plastic folders is such a great idea! What settings did you use for each of these materials?
I've just started following you and you've really eased my mind and made me feel more confident when wanting to try things on my Cricut. Your tutorials are amazing!

Hello Jennifer. I haven't been able to watch your videos for a few days. I had a 2 day craft show event. Now I can check out what I missed and catch up.
I love you, Jennifer but following this video ruined a brand new green Cricut mat.I loved the tips on custom material setting but will never use this setting again. I wound up trying several settings and followed a few videos but What worked for me was deep blade on Transparency material-default setting with 1 pass with purple mat. Didn’t even leave any marks on my mat. Still a huge fan and you will always be the first place I go for tutorials.
Awesome idea I was working with the vinyl but it's time-consuming and I need something a bit straightforward on the garment. Now, I am going to trial and error with a drawing design I converted to an svg. Thank you!

Hello, I am a Cricut newbie in every sense of the word. I am refinishing a hutch and I would like to make a large stencil, 11" x 23", with a repetitive design. I am going to be painting on hardboard paneling and then once it is dry adding the stenciled embellishment over the solid color. Is the process you highlight limited to just small stencils? Would it work with any type of paint? Your videos are extremally helpful and very well done. TIA
