That exhaust will never get old. Please Hyundai keep making more N division ICE cars
don't dream too much...already stopped selling them in Europe...the I30N and I20N are dead
At least they make the coolest EVs imo
@@kadj79 Tbf they don’t sell as much as the Elantra
@@LeoDragoGR well in Europe you dont get the Elantra, and the reason why they stopped selling i20N and I30N (even though they were very popular) here is because of the strict emission rules. They are now focusing only on EV N for Europe.
@@kadj79 yea Europe is unfortunately very obsessed with killing ICE cars for premature EV adoption
Just got a 24 a few weeks ago and holy crap it’s such a good car. This thing effortlessly handles everything I throw at it. A true drivers car through and through.
I’m interested in getting one too. In your experience, are they going: at, above, or below MSRP?
@@FreddyB865 I’ve heard mixed results personally. I was able to snag mine for a hair under MSRP luckily. However I’ve seen people reporting getting charged up to $10k over too! I guess it just depends on which state you shop. Best way is to start making calls
Bought my 24 EN a little over a month ago and wow it’s just everything I hoped for. I used to be the guy who hated on Hyundai but after owning the car for a month, I’m so glad I gave this car and Hyundai a chance
Hyundai has completely transformed over the last 5 years.
💯. I bought a 2013 Genesis coupe bk2 3.8 when it came out and it changed my perception of Hyundai. I've lightly modded it with headers, exhaust, and intake. Has right at 143k on it and has been great! I added a 23 Elantra N last year and it's also been a riot.
Hyundai Elantra N is valuable to gameboy attack.
be careful KIAboiS are going to steal the car in 20 sec.
@@dark6c159 Always gotta be someone like you.
@@dark6c159 I park it next to my wife’s Kia Optima, so hoping they’ll take hers first
I bought a '23 Hyundai Elantra N (DCT) a few months ago - I love how nimble it is, how fun it is to drive on the road, the exhaust never gets old, definitely cool to have a "rare" car on the road - you don't see many of them, and the gas mileage is an added bonus (easily getting 30MPG+ in eco)!😎 The dual personality makes it a perfect daily and a fun "weekend" car! For anyone at all interested in one - test drive it, and you'll be SOLD! Also the warranties are great, and these have kept their value pretty well, but I didn't buy this car for resale, I bought it to drive it!!🤪
Last point is the best point! Enjoying life nd not caging the car up as if its some over 200k car 💯
Everything you said is spot on! I Also have a ‘23 DCT. I came from driving manuals and I don’t miss it one bit with this transmission! It makes all the right noises and the shifts are so quick. It makes you feel like you are driving something way more expensive especially with all the customization. I have 21k miles on mine and don’t plan on slowing down!
Kona N driver here. Huge fan of the DCT and the tech and UX in general. The displays hold 60 Hz and the software does not crash! People who believe they'd prefer a manual need to think again. You mostly have to jump to something European and spend double to get a DCT. The Japanese options (Civic Type R, WRX, GR Corolla) don't offer DCT. 4 software-definable buttons and TWO custom drive modes. You hold any N or star button and then you pick what it does in nav. Super-fast and every critical feature is a real button! As someone with a UX background, these systems are refreshingly well-designed and quick to use.
@@thedevincrutcherto each their own, but personally, I’d rather be slower and have less tech to get that sweet sweet H-pattern.
I have 65k on my Perry-Winkled 2023 EN 6MT. Super cool that the automatic groupies can also enjoy this car. Wouldn't be right for us hardened manual drivers to keep all the fun to ourselves.
I bought my first new car, a 24 Elantra N and couldn't be any more happier. This car is great. I already have a dozen cosmetic mods already on it's way.
Anyone in here talking about how bad the Elantra n is just flat out hasn’t seen one or driven one in real life on the road. This car turns heads and it’s unrivaled in terms of smiles per gallon straight out of the factory that’s is AFFORDABLE. This cars punches above its class. Guarantee all the people mad have gotten smoked by an Elantra n while they ride in their slush box imapala
I love smoking people in this car. I have it tuned to about 320+ whp and people sometimes think it is just an Elantra so they probably don't know what just happened to them.
I love what it is but honestly my only concern with this car is long term reliability. Kia/Hyundai never had the best rep and I always hear horror stories from people who own them. But I cannot deny it's a sick vehicle
@@kaz9687 never worried about any of that. As long as you have warranty still covering it I don’t see a reason to worry. Just drive it and have fun
@@jessicaphoenix1312 yeah I can only imagine being 320whp. Been thinking about getting a tune but don’t want to worry about warranty bs. I have a takeda intake and inlet and lower engine mount bushing that’s it so far
Their warranties are scoped though. I’ve owned two Hyundais whose engines seized after 60k miles, the engine was repaired under warranty, but the exhaust was shot, and there was a laundry list of other issues. The quote to fix everything comes out to more than the car is worth. But, if you keep it for less than 5 years or 60k miles it’s not too bad
I own a 22 N manual and two years later I still get a thrill driving it. I’m grateful that despite me being in my 40s only recently have I gotten into learning about performance cars. And yes I know this isn’t a high performance car, lol. My point though is that I didn’t have any bias against Hyundai like many others who post comments and that is why I bought one. I based my purchase decision on what owners, reviewers, and journalists had to say and they pretty much universally raved about the Elantra N. I couldn’t be happier. It’s been reliable and despite Hyundai’s questionable rep with respect to long term reliability, I have a feeling that this Hyundai is just built different.
Have had my 23' dct for over a year now. It's always a joy to drive. Tested both Manual and dct , the dct just made the car more alive.
Yess I’ve been eating for this vid soooooo long!!!
Finally the review I was waiting on the Elantra N
It’s crazy how far Hyundai Hyundai has come!!! The Elantra N and so many more are just lovely and fun ❤
$45k with taxes for a hyundai, yea no
@@Cb_30 Seriously lmao. Anyone paying over 30k for a FWD Hyundai is just idiotic. It doesn't compete, inside or out, with any German car.
@@G-Hart14 so what German car do you think would beat it for 30k? Better not say a GTI LOL
@@Jcrash1 a GTI literally has a better interior… and looks ridiculously better.. it doesn’t come close my guy. This thing is objectively ugly.
@@G-Hart14 interior.. yeah maybe with the 8.5 refresh but the mk8 is dreadful with all of its issues and horrible laggy infotainment. Performance, the Elantra n takes the cake. More power-over a second quicker 0-60, and handles just as well, with the same weight. Not to mention sounds much better while doing so. You obviously haven’t raced or driven both. Oh and in regards to looks, yeah I prefer the gti. I didn’t buy a Elantra n I bought a Kona N over the gti due to how much more fun it is to drive.
I’ve been using my 2022 Elantra N DCT as a family car for 2 years and it’s more than adequate for family duty. My teen and tween fit comfortably in the back and it has great trunk space for the size of the car. The suspension is completely fine in normal mode, and going down to 18’s helps with ride comfort. I run Continental DWS 06+ on mine and it’s the perfect mix of all season drivability and performance. Launch control can be tricky and I’ve experienced it not working when lining up at the tree at the drag strip, but I’ve found turning traction control off completely by holding down the traction control button for 5 seconds usually helps launch control work more consistently. As far as looks go, I still prefer the pre facelift but that’s just me.
2025 will have awd in Saudi 😢
@@KaxEdit nah no it won’t
Agree on the traction control bit. Launch control didn’t work for me till I turned off traction
Whew...I misread your post. At first I thought that your kids fit great in the trunk.😂😂 Ya got a cool car though.
What the hell is a tween!?! 😂
2018 GT Sport owner here...LOVE my car. DCT is holding up great.
Good review as usually, keep it up dudes!
The N is on a different level. Definitely not like the other cars
I had same car in Marina Blue , was a great car me and also had no issues with it. Got KN now 😁
I finally took delivery of my 2024 Elantra N in Cyber Grey with the DCT. It took months after I was given it's VIN.
Delivery was delayed 5 times, but we'll worth the wait.
Loving it
On my 22, launch control flat out did not work when I first got it. I did all the things with no success. After a while, it finally started working, and I have never had an issue since. I think it needs to break in a bit before it will work. I am surprised that the revised engine mount did not cure the wheel hop. Its a 10 min job to fix it with an aftermarket piece, but still.
Jakub and Yuri are the bomb !
Saw you guys filming this last week!!
Aww yeee
Intro song is a banger, I was waiting for Yuri to start spittin at the beat drop
I know this isn't about the Elantra but I've had my 22' Veloster N M/T for 5 weeks now. I'm blown away by this car. I've never owned a car that eats corners like this thing. Sounds absolutely incredible stock and surprisingly good on gas. Highest MPG figures I've managed to get so far is 34.4MPG. For a "Hot Hatch", those figures are crazy. It seriously is THE BEST car on the market for the VALUE. So fun and I've not stopped laughing at those pops. If you're looking at getting a Veloster or Elantra N.... please go test drive one now. I promise you it's so good. If you're undecided between the Manual and Dual Clutch transmission, the DCT is one of the best in its class, but the manual is the easiest I've ever driven. That rev match works unbelievably good. Get one. You wont be disappointed!
Great, thanks for just making these harder to get than they already are! I've been waiting to get an allocation for months...
11:15 Jakub’s face when he knew what a high rev launch is gonna feel like in this car
It wasn't a high RPM launch. It was that he got launch control to work finally
No, the face was from the wheel hop and sever driveline lash. @@CarsandChris
@@joelbaker2172 no
@CarsandChris yeah, it's called mechanical sympathy, he knew this was hurting the car.
@@joelbaker2172 that's not why he made the face
I bought one three weeks ago and I’m never using launch control. A turbo 4 cyl is not a drag racer, it’s a punchy corner carver. This car has just enough fun factor to be engaging, inexpensive enough to not feel guilty using it, and niche enough that only WRX drivers know what you’re driving. For me, it has a few party pieces that help it stand out from its closest competition.
What if you were in a 2fast2furious drag race and had to kick it a nickel
I bought that 2018 Elantra Sport based on your videos and still watching today🎉. I think it would look even more gorgeous with some N division love.
Me too!!
Holy hell, was waiting to see those axles snap from the wheel hop.
Hehe gently used press car for sale 🤭
Can’t wait to get this in performance blue, been waiting on the list for a while! Cheers guys this’ll do great until then❤
@11:14 The reaction to launching at 3500 rpms was hilarious...I felt that. 😂😂
You can raise the volume of the pumped in audio. The reason you can barely tell it's on is because Hyundai did a pretty great job at making them sound realistic. Love my Elantra N.
Volume was maxed out on the main slider and each individual slider
Absolutely killer intro music!
Also is it just me or Yuri looks like he’s a bit down? Hope everything’s alright man incase you’re not feeling the best! Thanks for finally reviewing this car boys!
Liked this video without even watching it yet. 😄👍🏻💪🏻
I bought a 24 about 2 months ago and love everything about it, the DCT with paddle shifters is so much fun
As the owner of a 2023 Honda Civic Type R, I am just happy to see any company focusing some of their R&D dollars to keeping this segment alive in 2024 and hopefully beyond. The exterior styling is not for me, but I'm sure other people will like it. Is it as iconic as a Type R? Not a chance, but it is a good deal at $10k less than the MSRP of the Type R. And that's if you can get a Type R at MSRP!
Type R's are sitting for a while at MSRP in my state
Just bought a 23 Kona N and I couldn’t be happier
Everyone keeps trying to shit on Hyundai cause of their track record but don’t realize the N cars all developed by a separate division lead by BMWs Albert Beirrmann. These cars have their own special R&D’d Engine and 2 transmissions (manual & DCT) not the typical junk they put in their normal commuter cars. Plenty of all 3 N cars way over 100k miles with little no to issues. These cars basically were made by a “different” company that just so happened to be funded by Hyundai lol
And still with all that the knock sensor shorts out after a carwash 😂😂😂
Now seriously, this car is great for those on a budget.
@@Marbind luckily I haven’t had that issue with multiple cars washed and rain storms haha but yea that is another annoying issue. Definitely get a lot of performance per dollar and they’re easily modifiable and capable of much more with very little upgrades!
The engine in this isn't bespoke, it's a Theta ll which has been around since like 2010. It's tweaked for this application, but it's literally a motor that's gone into stuff like the Santa Fe and Sonata. The DCT is nearly identical to ones going into Santa Cruz and Sorentos.
And that's not to say any of this is a bad thing, because sharing parts with common cars means repairs can be done much cheaper and easily. With how long this motor design has been around, it's probably pretty well refined in terms of reliability.
I've felt that way once I got my Genesis coupe 3.8. That car has been really solid for me. I've also kept up with the maintenance. I had it walnut blasted at 100k to clean the carbon out , changed injectors, plugs, coil packs, and radiator flushed. She's now at 143k and been very reliable. I added a 23 Elantra N last year and so far so good. Kudos to hyundai for making performance cars at a bargain
Love your reviews @making Canada proud!
I worked at a tire shop and tires is literally real life 😂
This for sure is the car to get!!! The Amazing N. Wow
Kona N here, launch control is sometimes finicky, but you just have to ensure the steering wheel is perfectly straight. That’s the thing that matters most I found. Also, there’s a 5 minute cooldown between launches (which is why it said conditions not met because you did it back to back). The steering wheel literally needs to be perfectly straight.
And the brake has to be at 100%.
@@Yamchop44 yes, pinned to the floor. Felt weird at first when I did it bc I’ve never mashed a brake pedal like that before LOL.
Steering wheel was straight. No brakes because manual
@@TheStraightPipes it’s touchy. I swear it was straight on mine and it wouldn’t engage. Spun the wheel left and right and re centered it and it worked. But I mean it has to be dead on. Even an uneven road will make the computer think it’s not straight. It’s a pain. This is just from the DCT though I’ve only done launch control once or twice in the Elantra MT and it definitely seemed even more finicky.
@@TheStraightPipesI honestly don’t think it works well if at all in the manual lol. I can get it to work every time in my Kona N since it’s DCT only 😅🥲
I feel like the launch control works best with the DCT models, I got the Kona N and the launch control has worked every time I have run it.
lmao @ jakub's face from 11:15 and on hahaha
Tires on Netflix was hilarious. So good. Love Shane Gillis.
Jersey boy with a 2019 Camry XSE. The Conti DWS06+ is a beast of a tire it smoothed out my ride and grips like a tank in the snow come snowboard season.
Good video. I have the i30N Fastback DCT (closest thing you can get in NZ as we don't get the Elantra N, or i30 Sedan N as it's called in Australia). Such a fun car and perfectly usable every day.
Great video. Might trade in my Civic Si for one of these!
Performance meets style!
Loved this, love the N's, I've got the i20n and absolutely agree that the power is tuned beautifully to everything else about the cars, awesome 💙
Lol, I like the black wheels way more than the press photo ones.
For anyone who can’t afford a winter and summer set of tires, I highly recommend the DWS 06 plus. It’s amazing in the rain and it’s good enough in snow. Plus during the summer the grip is great especially for a “all season” tires
Launch control for the DCT works every single time though...The only flaw in this car is the lower engine mount bushing. Wheelhop is crazy unless you upgrade for the urethane bushing. then, it becomes perfectly managed.
Might be flawed on this one...mine works fine and builds boost 8 psi @ 3k (manual 24), my buddies Kona N builds 3-4 psi @3500rpms
They fixed that with the refresh.
The new 24 don’t have that problem the previous one did
@@DragonKnightX12fixed what with the refresh? Because they clearly didn't fix the wheel hop. That was atrocious. Though I really like the car
@@blakewhite8831My 24 DCT doesn’t behave like the one in the video at all. But tbf I believe the manual has more wheel hop than the DCT
For the launch control, you have to absolutely slam the gas to get it to engage. I’ve also had more luck activating it before I come to a stop, rather than engaging when I’m already stopped. (With the DCT at least)
i gotta say i really am a fan of the new elantra koreans impress me a lot lately
I order a Performance Blue 24 in December of 2023. Was told the manuals were on "indefinite" hiatus and I could only get a DCT.
Fast forward to April when my car arrived and the dealer threw a $4,500 mark up on the car (tried an $8,000 mark up) and tried to blame Hyundai Canada for it by saying they "lie on their website" to get customers to come into the stores. Then manuals started showing up at the beginning of May.
Have had the car for almost 3 months, have done 2 track days and love it. I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun practical sports car.
Just stay away from greedy Edmonton dealers looking to charge Type R money.
Finally...I been waiting for this drive. I prefer my 23 pre face lift though, and the rear end has too much black plastic in comparison to pre face lift
Agreed. Plus the wheels look like they came random from a salvage yard now. But I still might buy one if cant find a decent enough intense blue older one for a fair price.
Different cars but I had a regular Elantra and then a Corolla as recent rentals and I liked the Elantra more!
Very happy with my 2019 Veloster N, but I may get one of these eventually
REALLY wish they didn't discontinue the veloster. Best looking Hyundai imo
i just traded in my 23 N for a 24 AMG Mercedes. I loved the N such a great car for anyone looking for fun on a decent budget
Love the SKX Jakub
I'm getting one soon
Shout out to YURI for having that MAGIC TOUCH 😂
Guess Hyundai really didn't change the lower engine bushings. It's really a QoL after you change it, completely removes the tire hop. There is a slight increase of NVH after but mostly on idling and when you have music off and listening carefully. I've got the purple (performance) from powerflexusa and its been fun launching it, of course a lot of burning rubber lol
It looks a million times better
You are wrong about the rims. Love’em!
ive driven the 22 with the DCT, such a beautiful and fun car
I like those Forged black wheels, i wish i got them on my KN.
yuri & jacob threw them under the bus
14:38 I just asked my cell phone to define "periwinkle". It said, "an Old World plant with flat five-petaled, typically bluish flowers and glossy leaves".
Wheels- the new wheels are 8 lb. lighter/wheel than the original, soooooo- the new ones are way better and the black make the callipers pop. Love em
hyundai has come a long way and im loving the brand. their i20N is gorgeous, giving me a modern feel of the first honda type r
I went with a MK8 GTI instead of this, but shoot I love what Hyundai has done with it tbh 😮💨👌🏼
Looks way better!! Glad Hyundai is really embracing what they do well, and continuing to be very disruptive in the budget enthusiast car segment.
Tires was awesome!!
I’m so happy you showed the launch control not working. I’ve had the same issue with my 2022 Elantra N DCT since the day I bought it. It’s very frustrating. I can launch my wife’s Veloster N with no issue, but for some reason the Elantra N doesn’t let me do it.
Like the elantra N and N line
My bad mods from the 90s
- flip up head units w/neon lights
- grant steering wheels (no airbags)
- no fear stickers
- cherry bomb exhaust
- speaker boxes w/carpet
- k&n filters w/sticker to prove you had it.
- CD changer in trunk
- fake stick on hood scoops (cdntire specials)
- big wings on trucks (thanks Ram SRT-10)
- fire extinguisher 🧯 (others mods caused fire hazards)
I remember as a kid visting my relatives, everybody had Fido Dido tshirts. Did you guys have them?
I wish they'd make a shorter coupe version of this.
I have a 2024 Elantra N and it’s amazing! Tip: don’t launch it at 3500rpm. Yes the tires may still spin at a lower rpm but in my experience, it’s not hard to get a flawless launch if the rpm’s are lower
Great review! Only thing I disagree with is the ride comfort not being as good as the type R. In the softest (or even medium) setting, I can cruise with the kids in the back; no complaints. Other than that, agree with all the other issues, including launch control! 😂😂
Wheels were one of my favorite upgrades LOL prefer the look and decently lighter. Normal GR Corolla out-the-door pricing locally is like $10k more. Great Review!
I am about 3 months from picking mine up. Can't decide what color but I'm really starting to feel that red. It looks a little more elegant on the N. Almost understated.
Heck yea, my prayers have been answered
The fact that stav drives a dumped out purple 240sx really make the show
nice throw back to Siskel and Ebert
Launch control can only be engaged on flat ground so the car can’t roll AT ALL when off the brakes. I noticed in the video, the car was slightly rolling while trying to launch every time so it’s not going to engage. I have a manual Veloster N and it’s super finicky but on perfectly flat ground I can engage it every time. Great review 👍
We did it on level ground. The parts of the video filmed outside are not the same location as inside
The older one looks way better!
Alternate title: Yuri and Jakub try to figure out the launch control and piped in sound for 20 minutes
Much more descriptive. Or how about "Yuri schools Jacob in the black art of Hyundai launch control."
Family person here, I've had multiple STI... Would consider this vehicle yes
It looks best in white imo
I have the same car and the same color and I love it! I love the wheels I love the launch control I love everything about this car!
Reason to buy this as a first car:
- It is a manual
- It adheres to gentleman's agreement in Japan and Europe so you won't lose control
Jack is everyone😂
6 feet one and a half, don’t round up man, you look great. You should feel great everyone loves you you big piece of kindness, integrity, and fun. I effing love you brother. and, Привіт Юра.
Dyakooyoo
I want one so badly 😅
I just got the DWS06+'s for my '18 Elantra GT Sport, here in the Lower Mainland, BC.
They're quite a bit firmer/rougher riding at recommended pressure than the OG Hankooks, and on-center is a bit squirmier, but that is possibly improving as they wear in. Or I might just be getting used to it.
Dry grip is astounding. Much more than you'd ever need on the street, unless you street drive like a fool. Wheel hop during launch is basically gone on a dry road.
Wet grip is also amazing. I really have to try to spin, rather than the OG's which really made wet launches impossible.
They're no more loud than the Hankooks, and actually quieter than worn ones. That's what finally made me switch, other than the hydroplaning starting to creep in more than I'd like. Got almost 80k out of em, and probably could have squeezed another few thousand summer KMs. Can't complain. They had good feel and manners at least.
If these Conti's last as long as the Hankooks, I'll be pretty happy.
Yuri driving an 89 Olds Cutlass Supreme International?! Boss!!!
Best in class for the money
Any idea when you'll get your hands on a 25 K5 GT?
Yeah my i30N had that exact same wheel hop, it was horrible lmao. I never even bothered with launch because of it, was happy just doing it myself off the line.
Need to hold traction control button until it’s fully off, there you go. That’s literally the only thing you were missing. Keep wheel straight, ensure traction control
Is fully off, activate launch control and your good. Also launch control can be re-engaged after a small period of time, just like ngs for the dct. The wheels are 8lbs lighter per corner, and forged so they are a significant upgrade performance wise. The wheel hop can be eliminated with a $40 bushing for the lower engine mount that takes 15 mins to install.
Wish they didn’t kill the veloster but this is a nice N. My veloster N never gets old
From my personal experience, these hyundai turbo petrols are fun to drive for the first few months and then the novelty wears off and it gets especially annoying once the GDIs start self destructing as they near 100k miles.
I learnt my lesson the hard way, I went ahead and sold it and then bought a corolla, because the service center was sort of becoming my second home.
My corolla feels dead in comparison, no doubt about it. But atleast it won't leave me stranded at 1 am waiting for a tow truck in the middle of nowhere.
It's such an amazing car.
Jacob while wincing: Solid launch.
