12:20 whoever programmed this... So the name you are looking for is Albert Biermann. Ex-BMW M and has basically created what N stands for at Hyundai. This is his last car and there are some videos where he very openly talks about his ideas for the car. Basically, he pushed the ignition mode and got the guy who actually chief engineered the DCT to tune the fake gears. For example, he also talked about how he had the mindset of getting engagement instead of performance. That is why in fale gear mode, they do not go full power, so they have some left for the faked "shift kick". It is amazing and this car is basically his legacy, since he is going to retire after. There is an amazing video with him and a German influencer (JP) where he talks a lot about the development. Maybe auto transcribe works fine for it...
Biermann didn't really contribute much to this project beyond giving it his approval. Hyundai has been leveraging his name to enhance their brand image. The real contributors were a group of young engineers in their late 20s and early 30s who grew up playing Gran Turismo. These talented individuals are implementing significant engineering changes at Hyundai. Trust me, I have firsthand knowledge of this.

Like any ICE sports car, its the same with range how they aggressive they use their car so for an EV that is a sports car... it is still a very efficient car compare to ICE. if you drive aggressively on a gas car... you get like 12-15mpg

What Hyundai has done is not rocket science but an understanding and attention to and commitment to detail.
Hiring talent away from the Germans seems to be in the Korean car industries DNA now. Styling & Dynamics all bought on the open market.
Albert Biermann was hired in 2015 and recently retired. Changed the game for HMG/KIA
@@cbotten106What is in your DNA but sarcasm?
Hyundai EVs are not only Getman but also uniquely Korean. They're excellent mechanically as well as electrically and electronically, which German EVs could't follow, at least till now.
You know what? Albert has never assisted EV section instead he has helped Hyundai N version . Gasoline I mean
The 6N is gonna be the best sports sedan (semi-affordable) in the world. This is what electric cars should be, normally I’m a ICE guy (V8🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸), but I love this!
Hyundai promised that Ioniq6N will be even crazier than this.. cant wait for it
I just got an Elantra N, and Hyundai are really destroying the competition and the pricing is spot on. Absolutely punching above their weight/price. Hyundai is really showing everyone they have the chops to compete, and even surpass. One of the best times in history to be a car enthusiast!
I genuinely think this need to be the way all EVs are made moving forward. I would love to see other legacy brands that make excellent sports cars try to implement some of these innovations; while I don't think EVs are a silver bullet in curtailing climate change, but they CAN be a ton of fun, and this car is the incarnation of making them an absolute blast to drive. I am excited to see the next gen of sports cars using EV and hybrid tech that the more expensive super car marques are implementing today
Good point. I, in theory, will go kicking and screaming into the next era. Yet, without even realizing it, I found myself wanting this car. It would really be a nice parachute for us gas snobs
They want to but it just that they can't.
I can't believe I already saw one of these in person. It really is the perfect all rounder... except the range. But this has so much horsepower that it's a sports car and range doesn't matter
Range is the number one concern for EV owners. This is a huge leap backwards. This car is for city burnouts at lights...thats it.
@@GuiGabois from a pure daily/commute standpoint XD it sounds perfect to me esp w.o having to worry about transmission/cvt/dct maintenance
Another channel had an EV mega comparison including Pininfarina Battista (mechanically same as Rimac Nevera) that cost $ 2 million and picked Ioniq 5 N as the best EV performance car because it was the most fun to drive. Enough said.
Hyandai is out here absolutely killing it.
I would 1000% buy this car
Does that mean you will buy 10 of them?
I'm really coming round to a suv now after seeing this. One day.
@@BioniqBob yes.
@@christopherwilkinson326 this is definitely cool, idk why ppl are so anti electric if they make them like this im for it lol
Holy sh-- 600+HP in that? Thats kick-ass cool
There are hundreds of small companies in the EV industry, which has a low barrier to entry technically, but it seems that Hyundai, a major internal combustion engine company, is the only one making a true EV.The Ioniq 5N has set the standard for high performance EVs.
Man, Hyundai is killing it with the EV's. Gotta say I was never a fan of their ICE offerings but their EVs have me wanting to actually buy a Hyundai. GOod review boys!
Finally an EV that didnt cost cut and kept buttons in their car besides putting everything on a screen. Clicking a button to turn on sport mode or having a scroll wheel will forever be satisfying to me.
Why did you change your profile on UA-cam? 🤣🤣🤣

that super sonic sound boom is insane lol
Hilarious!
I really have been waiting for this review, because no other reviewers seem to care about that particular sound mode.
It would be cooler if it made the noises on the outside. I think the taycan did the EV noise right. Shit sounds like a spaceship from inside and out
Hyundai are going down the right path with their gear simulation. It's pretty cool. Hopefully they can develop real gears like Lexus 🙏
porsche already making physical gear for its taycan (IIRC). but only 2 or 3 gears
I think it's super expensive right now for EVs. In time maybe, but I doubt it will be in the near future as it would just cost too much for their market. Genesis would likely be the first one since that's their luxury brand.
@@agungwisenoyeah that's pretty cool, Lexus has a concept gearbox that is a manual transmission but it's for electric cars, I think they have tested it in their new UX or some electric suv or something they have.
More complexity for a gimmick isn't cool.
@@joshgts9675 some people like it are they dumb according to you? If they have customers pay for it what’s wrong with it?
I think Jakub nailed it with the transition period comment. Makes it fun for sure! Love the color. Hyundai/Kia have been putting out some really cool EV products that look good.
Two months in and still loving it here in the USA. Have seen 257 range (city) in commute driving. Edmunds says 260 after their testing.
Of course, driving harder on the weekends gives you less range. 😂
I charge for free at work, have a home charger and the 350kw near me works and we’re seeing 18 mins to 80 when we need it.
Thanks for the fun video!
Regarding the 350kw charger, it's silly how bad the chargers are at Jakub and Yuri's location.
Congrats on the purchase. Do you think your tires will last 40k miles? Really want this as my next car (own a Elantra N currently)
@@conrado800 Pirelli summer tires did not last 40K on the Mustang convertible that I had beforethis car. That said, it took me eight years to hit 40k. I haven't based my car purchases on the tires.
Bull...the EPA range is 221. You'd be lucky to get 200 if you drive like a nun.
@@GuiGabois no need to take my word for
It. look up the recent Edmunds video.
EV's can have a 'no mans land' feel with such a wide 1 gear power band. Mimicking per-gear power curves and sound as a reference point is so brilliant!! Sporty driving in previous EV's used a lot of driver focus to connect your speed with where you are in the power range, this looks like it totally frees that focus up! Bravo Hyundai !
Super cool car. I have an Elantra N and absolutely love it. One things for sure, this ev is going to eat ALOT of tires.
It actually doesn't, as confirmed by the youtuber that regularly tracks his I5N on nurburgring.
Entirely agree with Jakub. The simulated ICE is a brilliant transition for this moment in time.
I've had a regular Ioniq 5 for 2 years and I want this SO bad...
0:32 😂😂😂😂😂 the laugh says it all!
The sound Is gangster😂🔥🔥🔥🔥
This car is so silly. It just goes to show how much fun Hyundai is having with making their cars now. I love it.
The price is actually a bargain if you want a sports car that can compete with a 200k car. Hyundai is offering 2 years free charging and some states offering 7500k to 11k off in rebates.
I just want a faster car that has good range and costs about $20k less...ah yes, the Tesla Model 3 performance! Much better for adults. This N is for boy racers.
@@GuiGabois I can smell Tesla fanboy from miles away... and so does everyone. No one is getting fooled here but yourself.
@@nabieladrian I guess you are a boy racer then?! I just prefer a car that has a +200 mile range not the pathetic 180 or so you would get from the N. This is why N owners have gone back to range anxiety!
@@GuiGabois since when M3P is a faster car?? since when.. Good range yes with pathetic cooling capabilities on brakes and battery, go home Tesla fanboy.
@@GuiGabois You got that all wrong old man. Ioniq 5N is for real racers. What can the Tesla do? Go fast in a straight line? Is that what old men think is cool nowadays? Slamming your foot down as hard as you can, holding your wheel in a fixed position, and just looking straight out the windshield while thinking, "Oh, I'm so cool!!" I laugh at idiots that think drag racing is worth anything. It takes 5% of the skill required to actually race on a track and maybe 30% of the engineering needed for a car to do well on a track.
Hyundai just banging the automotive industry 🔥🔥🔥
When Uri tried to put 100% power to the rear, he slid it back but didn't tap the max rear icon. That's why it put power to the front wheels ! 😅
Wow. Hyundai has been introducing very innovative cars as of late. This car is suddenly the top EV in the market. It seems like they left no stone unturned with it. Too bad it's expensive, but you get so much in value. I kinda want one. Over 600 horsepower!!!
I’ve had my Ioniq 5N a week now, and I can’t stop smiling!!
Super fun car, isn't it? I got up to 1,000 miles in my first week and can't stop smiling and being impressed all the same.

Absolutely a game-changer
This car is literally a driving sim rig that you can drive on the street.
The amount of "oh shit" semi scared faces on Yuri and Jacob this review sold me on this car.
Yuri has one of those on his face about half the time Jakub is wheeling. That or eyes scanning the interior for a grab handle.

this is 1 of the most proper review on most of the setting, it's insanely good.. Almost all review that i watched before didn't set properly as the sound is switched off once they press the NGB
This car is really awesome
I've always loved the Ionic 5. I don't know what it is but it's one of those cars that just looks SO much better in matte color.
It is truly amazing what a brand like Hyundai managed to achieve before any other major player did. This car is revolutionary for the EV world, everyone should be taking notes.
Literally makes the car perfect having gears and redline and sound. By no means am I a electric car guy, but this is badass
If I were to buy an EV (which I'm likely not anytime soon) this would be the car I would buy!
I remember how most people, would laugh at the idea that Hyundai had for the Ioniq 5N, and then when they saw the reveal video, people laughed some more. But look who's laughing now.
Im still laughing. The range is pathetic!
@user-os1nh7xq1z i dont think people will be buying this for range...but hey, no ones asking you to buy one.

Glad you finally got to play with this toy. Hyundai killed it. Sadly I'm old so I'll stick with the Palisade for a few years more.
I got a Kona N, I was interested in the Ioniq 5 N but the price and range makes me feel like I gotta wait till they drop in price or refresh with a longer range model.
Electric cars tend to drop in value a lot fastwr than gas cars so you’ll probably be able to get one cheap soon.
HYUNDAI ATW!!! BEEN WAITING FOR YOU GUYS TO DO THE REVIEW ON THIS E-DEMON
Lol at that sneaky 11:12 speed edit haha
So sneaky that YOU spotted it?
Can’t wait for this car to drop in price!
Hyundai Kia EVs are light years ahead of BMW BENZ and AUDI
These reviewers don’t realize you only get full 600 hp (640 hp with NGB) when at default 50/50 torque distribution. If set to 100% RWD torque, you only get the hp of the rear engine. Same for FWD.
How is Hyundai the first one to make a car like this
Software engineer/technician deserves a pay rise 💯% for putting back some calculated robotic/electronic ICE fun characteristics into EV.
This car’s chime is the same noise my fridge makes when I leave it open too long
It's probably an LG, parts sharing.
@@cbotten106 it’s a Samsung lol
Yuri’s face around cliche at 12:30 was GOLD 😂😂
…save your money, in a short 3 years this car will have 800 horsepower…and battery technology will drop weight another 500 pounds…1/4 in 10.4….0-60 in 2.3….and KIA will continue to evolve this dragster for the N models…and in addition, their technology will improve…KIA is definitely into developing this car to be further improved…and its cost will be still far below Porsche , Audi,BMW, and other EV manufacturers…

As an owner of an ioniq5, I would love to get the 5 N.. It's that good
The difference in price from the regular version is crazy........ I'll wait for the fast depreciation and recalls to kick in 😤
your charging issue is with Electrify Canada... not the car itself. EA here in America, 80% of the time, we get 200-237kwh speed most of the time. Maybe try other DCFC stations that is not Electrify?
Like any ICE sports car, its the same with range how they aggressive they use their car so for an EV that is a sports car... it is still a very efficient car compare to ICE. if you drive aggressively on a gas car... you get like 12-15mpg
This might be the only EV I would consider buying. Everyone else, pay attention to Hyundai/Kia. They are kicking dust in the faces of most auto manufacturers.
Credit to Hyundai for really going all in with their N brand, across several areas of their lineup. Between the Elantra, Kona, Veloster, i20, i30, and now Ioniq5, has there been a bad N product so far?
They did it! After years of almost getting there, they finally did a car review that’s nothing but walking through a bunch of menu screens. Congrats guys! You must be in heaven. 😂

The Ioniq 5 N is a beast
I'm so glad they made this and am looking forward to the Ioniq 6N and hopefully in the not so distant future an Ioniq 3N that is a smaller version of this to get even closer to the Hot Hatch feel since this is still the size of a crossover even though it looks like a smaller hatchback on the screen.
4:27 Yes Hyundai doesn't have a V12 but they do have a 429hp 5.0L V8 from their Genesis R spec they could have sampled from.
I think the genesis gv60 performance or whatever has the sound and shifting option too from a review i watched. might only be available in certain markets but i think that one sounded like the v6 tt they have iirc
Charging stations are about $1000-1500 here to have installed. Ain't cheap, but it's not rich person stuff. Def essential for most people outside of metro areas to function normally.
Ioniq 5 N Bricked. Never thought I would use that term but it aptly describes my vehicle. 7000km and now it won’t move. Sitting in a dealership waiting for Hyundai Canada to do something.

My issue from experiences this past winter pushing the 5 cars out of snow. The Iconiq is too low to the ground for winter driving. Getting hung up on the underside smooth panels
I'm a little disappointed there's no simulated smoke from the tires during burnouts... or did you guys just miss a setting someplace?
