Tim Henson almost 30 but the dude still looks like he's 18 , he's some sort of guitar genius vampire
As someone who doesn't have a guitar, Tim Henson makes me want to quit playing it.
I feel like Nik is getting near death experiences every time he reacts to stuff like this because his brain is about to explode trying to process what he just heard
He makes me want to stop playing drums, that’s how good he is at guitar

@@sugoruyo haha sick comment 😅 and totally agree with you on this. Speaking of which i know this video is about a year old I just discovered this kid and his band but Ive been a huge steve vai fan since the late 80’s and when I saw him on Crossroads I was a kid and didnt even understand the movie plot till over a decade later when rewatching the movie and it made sense lol . Id selling ur soul was a real thing everyone would be doing it. Ironically, belief in yourself IS a big basis for real satanism so selling ur soul seems weird and def a bad thing for many but its not even like that. Tim dont need the devil the devil needs HIM! (Except he already has Steve Vai) LMAOOOO
He definitely has no soul 😅
Either that or he practiced for over 5 hours or more a day for 18 years. They say it takes 10,000 hours to be an expert and he is for sure there.
Wow, Henson is just so inspirational. First time I heard him I immediately took up fishing. . Haven't looked back since. Thaaaanks, Tim.

When Tim Henson writes music, it doesn’t come out looking like quarter notes and half notes, it comes out looking like the Pokémon unknown.

His shit be looking like Missingno like holy crap
Lol. I have a similar feeling when I listen to The Dillinger Escape Plan, only instead of turning into Unown when notated, it turns into calculus.
More like "MissingNo." pokemon and the music he plays sounds like the Pokemon's glitchy battle cry
This is funny af lmao
"It's like metal you can show your mom"
YES I've been saying something similar for years with polyphia/Tim Henson's playing. It's very approachable music
My issue over the years with shredders like Yngwie and Vai has always been that they'll put shredding over the actual melody and harmony. But Tim really knows how to blend everything into a cohesive package.
Agree Yngwie late playing is repetitive and boring without melody. When you listen SOAD you appreciate the melodies of every song. Its harder creating a tune then mindlessly going over scales
His sense of melody is great. Shows you can have technicality and melody at the same time.
100% agree.
yeah, when i heard GOAT first time the thing that came across my mind immediately was "oh bloody god, *the sense of melody* "
And be a good example of the difference between wisdom and intelligence
"it's got no soul" *boomer bends*
His melodies and technique (obviously and timing) are soo good! He is all soul and it transcends time and space right to our ear and make us feel happy and good. Thats the epitome of a great musician/composer. Its cool cause tims influences are hendrix, death metal, and other acoustic players
Just saw them live a month ago and he was like an immortal god up on stage 🙌
I think at this point, Tim has ascended past the point of being a pure guitarist. He’s a true composer that’s got his art down to a T. He’s not just playing music, he’s playing art. Notice how even in cover songs such as the Umbrella song and the Ariana Grande pop cover, he didn’t just play the melody or the chorus, he blended the percussive elements and the lyrical voicing as well as added his own sound that is unique to Tim Henson only. And I think that’s what makes his playing so alluring and even addicting at times.
Manuel Gardner Fernandez - Roze Skin. He adds his own flavor
@@Jrocka7x the topic being discussed and reacted to was Tim Henson. If it was Manuel, it would be about Manuel.
Do you like tim henson bruh?
@@KeepTheGates I believe he used the word addicted at the end there lmao
So basically you are saying I should sell my guitars and just pray to Tim Henson at night?
What amazes me most about Tim is at first I thought he was playing in some crazy open tunings but I looked and nope all standard tuning. So he doing all that sound in FUCKING E STANDARD!? It's absolutely mind blowing.
It's his understanding of all the open string intervals in standard tuning that makes his music sound unique. He writes music in a DAW and transposes the music to play to the strengths of e standard tuning. It's honestly quite brilliant.
I know it’s not a huge difference (mostly for playing logistics and figures) but a good chunk of his stuff is played in Drop D
he loves open string harmonics so he tends to play in e minor; weird ass tunings would only be necessary if he felt like composing in another key lol
Thanks for that! I was wondering. I don't think I have seen anyone ever with crisper fret transitions! Amazing to me! I'm a drummer but, we are living in an era that several new young guitar players are completly redefining the instrument. As an old man I can finally feel that guitar in the future is in very good hands. Haven't had a guitar player inspire me as much since Allan Holdsworth. I'm am just blown away by these young guitarist in this era!!!
I don't think so. You can do advanced shed in standard. I play only standard. Because I'm shed at tuning.
It’s so nice to see that an insane guitarist like yourself react to Tim Henson like this. It makes the process seem so much more human.
I look at you the way you look at Tim Henson 😂😂
The contrast of how "soft" (non-derogatory in intention) Tim's outfits are in comparison to his large amount of tattoos. What a style
Each star in the sky represents a time that Tim has played a harmonic
The Tim Henson Neural DSP plugin is seriously the best for clean tones. The nylon preset is great for acoustic as well as electric. The multivoicer is on-point too. 10/10.
Anaal Nathrakh-The Joystream.

That end makes me happy. Only because I got into guitar with mostly core stuff. Going to shows, playing in bands, carting around my heavily used 5150 stack. It's crazy that over the years my taste in music has changed and I love Tim Hensons new stuff. But the fact that he came from that background makes me feel like all of us here on the internet are on this long musical journey as we grow up and get older.
Accoustic Fingerstily Guitarrists are a force to be reckoned with. How did Andy McKee called his style? Wood Rock and I think this is exacly what it is: complex, melodic and enjoyable, but also very difficult.
Hes easily one of the most creative, technically sound, and melodically driven guitarist out there. Few do what he does, along the likes of Ichika and Manuel Gardner Fernandes as well. So melodic, tasteful and difficult to play. They're the next evolution of guitarists for these types of genres
Absolutely. I feel like he's the best of Ichika and MGF...he brings that melodic oomph of ichika, with the flex of MGF. Henson is top tier right now for sure. I love MGF, feel like he gets carried away with the flexing and muted strums, just a bit much for my taste. Hes a monster nonetheless.
MGF and Tim Henson are probably my favourite modern guitar players, along with Matheus Asato and the also brazilian Lari Basilio. Such a great generation.
@@MrNalettinho Asato is another of my faves, I think Tim is on top right now for me though. I’ll have to check out Basilio!
difficult doesn't equal good. I think most of this stuff is inane guitar exercises.
@@BassMatt1972 difficult also doesn't mean its just exercises. Ya don't gotta love his style, but to say its not good is just disrespectful and usually close minded. I don't know what styles you like so I can't say anything about you specifically, but most of the people I see dishing on Henson's playing (or the other guys mentioned on this comment thread 1.) haven't listened to a lot of their stuff to see how they've matured, and 2.) are into the oldies or slower blues stuff, and use the outdated 'playing with feel' argument to try and talk down on this playing.
The oversized hoodies give him superpowers.
I like it when a youtuber is relatable in this way.
Nice to see some humans still, and not just prodigy machines (:
On Tim Henson’s video playing a guitar, there’s a comment that said, “This man just broke all the rules of an acoustic guitar”.
Guitarists: "We hate bass players, they are inferior to us."
Also, guitarists: *plays guitar exactly like a bass
We love bassist though? They're our shepherd in our 20 minute, self-indulgent solos

One of my new favorite bands has 2 bassists and a drummer, 'The Omnific'. Clay Gober from Polyphia just did a song with them
The players not the style lol
I am hoping this a joke because no guitarist hate bass.
So interesting, expressive, virtuosic, original, unexpected. Absolutely amazing.
Nick !! Glad you did a reaction video to this ! Hope you remember me from ECI lmao!!
one of my favorite parts about Tim is his playing sounds like more than just a single guitar. when he plays it feels like he has multiple supporting artists around him or something. it sounds so full and lively. I love it
Tim’s work is mind blowing. I play drums but I wanna quit
I wonder what it was like for his parents, to walk by his room and hear him shredding
Like all musicians parents.. they bitched about too much time inside
@@Only1Feckitt I got lucky and my parents never cared when I drummed, they encouraged it. My neighbors on the other hand….

They were like "Geez. I wonder when he is gonna play something with a hook? I hope he joins some mildly successful crappy math-rock band or he will probably just be another heavily tattooed hipster barista."
if you didn't notice... he's playing the acoustic with his right hand on the fret board instead of the left... too good.
5:45 I legit reacted exactly the same way Nik did to that chord. It was like a jinx. Lmao how can you not.

That video has been around for years now I wanna say. I’ve seen it so many times at this point I’m basically desensitized to it, haha.
Tim Henson has obviously put in many hours days weeks and years honing his skills. Makes it look so easy but yet so complicated. Such smooth technice and precision. Simply stunning playing.

probably, if i recall that ichita guy or w/e it is, said he practices for like 6-10 hrs a day
@@DeathShark00 Goddamn and I only do that for about 30min-1hr a day!
To be honest, if you look at guitarists like TheDooo who live listens to a song and instantly turns it into a technically improved version it’s just him knowing the cords that he always plays and how to arrange them it’s the same with tim, i would assume tim doesn’t have to practice overly long when by ear he knows where his fingers want to go. Just a hunch.
If you’re familiar with how tim writes his riffs first making it out as if it was a beat in software, that’s probably where most of his time goes then once it sounds good in software he instantly lays it out on guitar.
Tim is probably my favorite guitarist and a big inspiration for me
So good, and makes beautiful music.
Hi Nik, it’s all a matter of perspective. I get the same look and comments when watching you play!!! 😂😂😂😂
I can only ever dream of being able to play as well as you do and I have been playing guitar fir over 30 years.
Keep up the great videos!!! 😃🙏🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
randomly got recommended this - the dude being watched reminds me a lot of someone I knew, on a number of levels. They played much more... hrm not sure how to describe... with more funk, soul. Him and a few others I knew could play like that for hours on end if they wanted, stopped only by a need to blaze or eat. I think a lot of people don't get that it's just a matter of putting in the time, and being comfortable with where you're at while getting more and more capable. The one thing common to every uber-top-tier musician I've ever run into is that they're not just willing but wanting to express themselves in the way they want, irrespective of where they're at ability-wise... not the other way around, which is I think how most of us approach it.
I dont even want to get as good as Tim, i d just be very happy if I could be half as good as Nik one day...

you really really really need to do Alan Goggoll. He deserves the exposure so fucking much. Dude is unbelievable at fingerstyle rhythm acoustic, the harmonics are UNREAL. Makes Tim Henson (almost) look intermediate.
He is just impossible to compete with. This guy is creating a new way to play a guitar and im lovin it
Tims GOAT riff is sick! And Nic, you are fantastic at watching good guitar players. 😅
Tim has tutorials for his songs on the UA-cam.. be fun to watch you try and learn one of them. "In the Cut" he says is one of his "easier" things he made
Honestly thinking through his postings, it probably is. His 'Real' feature is awesome, but the hardest part is getting used to the thumping technique (as someone who hadn't done it before). Blood Moon and Shred Collab III are ungodly difficult though. In the Cut is chill and vibey, mainly cuz he's flowing with the rapper so much.
that 2nd guitar is a classical (nylon strings) - first one looked the same (can help with getting those bass-like slaps)
guitarists like Nik and Tim Henson convinced me now that you got to love playing the guitar to really rise to a special kind of talent. I mean... I know how to play the guitar and I can play some songs but I´ll never be able to "freestyle" or shred because I just don´t "feel" it as much.

You know how there’s artists that further the craft and do stuff that wasn’t thought of until then? Hendrix did it in the 70’s then EVH did it in the 80’s. Tim is doing it now and I love that I can be here to see it. He is the next guitar idol whether we know it or not
Except Eddie and Hendrix can put more into a few notes than little Timmy can when he is wanking for hours.

I have never seen him try to play anything from Polyphia because I haven't seen him since like 2009 or so before Polyphia became. But I would be not surprised at all to see him do it.
I just want to point out that the second clip was the riff from “the worst,” which features tapping. And this dude plays the tapping so fucking clean and clear on a goddamn acoustic.
