Tim said in an interview that he has to be able to play it flawlessly with his eyes closed/while interacting with the audience and at full speed, because if he tries to think about it, he'll mess it up, so I figure there's a lot of practice and building muscle memory behind videos like this.
@@beensavage390 Yeah I'd say that's one thing that's underrated about Polyphia the guys in the band aren't just playing gods they also practice more than most professional musicians in the rock space. I would compare their amount of practice to a professional violin soloist more so than most rock musicians.
I never played at this level... obviously but I did compete in state for sax and was all honors and it really is like that. You just practice sections over and over and over and over and over until thinking about things actually slows your fingers down. During performances you also can enter a flow state where the muscle memory just takes over and you kind of just lose yourself.
I really liked this comment because it's always easy to say "oh, yeah, they're just talented", but even if they of course are, there's A LOT of practice and work put in their pieces for them to work the way they do, individually and as a band
Guitars have changed a ton, but more in the technology of the output and the availability of knowledge and learning mechanisms. Like for as good as tim is, he keeps no secrets. His tones and tabs are readily available and he's pretty open about his writing process. Someone in his position 30 years ago would be secretive about it all.
never thought about that, but yea nowadays the musical gurus of the world are online constantly sharing knowledge, jacob collier for me especially. his vids have helped my playing so much i would’ve hated learning piano 30+ yrs ago😅🤣
I agree with you guys, Polyphia is incredible. I think musicians are more blown away then the average listener because we understand the creativity, talent, skill, etc. that is on display here. Its so impressive its almost like a new genre.
Exactly Though I usually don't listened to rock music other than Linkin Park but man Tim's skill is next level! I can't get it out of my head...he must have practiced 40 hours His precision and clarity destroys my soul..I need to practice🥲❤️
If you've seen Playing God and this acoustic version, definitely check out other music videos like GOAT, 40oz, and Look but Don't Touch. Their on camera work is incredible!
It was dope and his look is totally anime... And my first this is not just a minute into it before you guys even discussed it was that generation get insanely better at anything musical computer technology etc and I don't know if it's amazing or scary just I was astounded

The multiple times you noticed and commented on "drops of sweat on his chin" - - - I can offer at least one reason. His "suit" alone was very heavy. ELVIS'S tailor, who designed his performance wardrobe, said some of the suits plus the signature gold-buckle belt could way in excess of 60#s plus. But, THANK YOU, for your otherwise excellent reaction!
Thank you. I appreciate you. It’s weird i catch myself doing that alot. With all these screens it’s too much to look at haha. I’ll practice right now on my live stream goin on in 30 minutes

id say atleast 300-500 hours of practice to get to that level of muscle memory and reaction time in relation to your body doing it involuntary
oh and i mean those hours are per song. not overall.

I'm not convinced Tim Henson is a human being
Tim is like the ultimate hybrid Classico Jazz Metal and Rock all rolled into one
Tim paid somebody $32 on FIVVER for that whistle part
I think his mom is Chinese and his Dad an white dude... he has mentioned them in videos

generation of miracles but in music
We all know Tim Henson is GODLIKE, but the drums is insane...........
Talking about Tim doing this in one take is gold, he could screw up and it still would sound amazing so it doesn't even matter
His ethnicity is half Chinese half American for your question
He is called Timmy Hendrix for a reason.:D
I think that’s his newest crossover sig guitar, imagine dude is 29 with 2 signature guitars
That was impressive! I'm speechless!
i can’t unhear the “wii” now
"missed a singled note that no one even noticed" cracked me up hsjkda
5:20 is the Animal Crossings theme according to Tim
Anyone ever watched a video of cats looking at a fly or something 😂, these guys mimicked it through 90% of the song😂
That was sick! I encourage everyone to check out Amahjra and watch Billy absolutely kill it on the drums. I love you BILLY STICKS!
Polyphia should do reaction video to all the 'reaction to Polyphia song' videos
Def subscribed to the band!!

He actually writes his songs on piano then transfer the notes to guitar.
It feels like it's not the same instrument that I've been playing on for more than 30 years now. I f'''ed up at the beginning I guess.
Great reaction!
Nice intro line hahahahahaha
Tim is half white and half chinese and all guitar god
What ethnicity? Guitar Sex God, oozing it all
It’s like Jaco making love to his bass.
This is by far my favorite reaction of Tim’s work
Since when is Brian from Impractical Jokers reviewing guitar videos?
