I'm a total stranger to fingerpicking, idk if that's just standard practice, but it's funny how the letters that Tim uses for the fingers don't correspond to their English names, but actually fit their French names (and I'm assuming it works for other Latin languages too). Super nice to see you try this! As a classical guitarist I am way better at fingerpicking than at playing with a pick, and I can't stop myself from pointing out that you could try to pick more from the fingers and less from the hand as a whole. I see your hand make a little jump every time you pluck the i-m-a fingers, and you should aim for a steady hand that does not or barely move. This will make it easier to play with as little tension as possible, as well as more economical. so you can speed it up better. =)
In the meantime, I will just struggle like hell to learn how to sweep, and get encouragement from your cover videos!

Defiantly a harder technique to learn. A few things I can recommend is buy the guitar messenger Tosin thump course, it’s amazing. Second, there’s a really good tutorial I found by ando San that breaks down the movement almost perfectly and that started me off so well with the technique. Also I noticed that you’re doing more of a slapping motion on the string instead of going through it like a pick, you are gonna want to get a little nail in there as well just to add more attack to the string. I enjoyed watching this, please do more.

Little tip for your thumb technique, your picking motion kind of moves away from the guitar as you downstroke, try keeping your thumb as absolutely relaxed as possible and bring it through the string with force from your wrist, this way when it lands on the next string it’s immediately in position for the upstroke

When I was in Middle School and learning Guitar my Teacher taught us both finger picking and with the picks so when I learned that many people don't play or know that way I was so confused because I figured both methods were always taught. Of course that was so many years ago and I haven't played guitar in probably about 13 years or so I doubt I still could do it.
Anyway I love this video it's fun to see a Guitar God like Nik try and learn something new.

There is something so satisfying about watching someone who is a far better guitarist then myself struggle with something on guitar.

I've been training finger picking too, although I get the concept, I can't get away with that without regular practice. I'm used to barre chords too, and it's a hard transition.
