I was on here lookin for repair vids on my dishwasher and i saw my clothes washer so i clicked. My GE is damn near 30 yrs old and runnin strong. With gods blessing, ill pass this unit on down to my grandkids 😂 Great vid, btw. Very informative, ty!
I was so excited to find this video because we have the same one. My husband is in the army and leaves for periods of time often so being able to find and fix the problem myself is awesome, thank you!
Hello Lex. Thank you for helpful video. My GE had the same issue, clogged hose. You saved me a couple hundreds. Second time now. God bless you and thanks a million
@@LexVance what if it's some water in the clear box that the hose is connected to on tht drum how do you get it out? Cause my top washer works but wont do a final spin
There’s this type of brush I have I think it’s meant to clean out the inside of a straw. I feel like that would be an awesome tool to clean out that pressure thing u cleaned out. Really liked the video brother
One of those arts &crafts pipe cleaners or Harbor Freight assorted pipe brushes. Always have some of these in your shop...or in your washer repair loadout.
Wish me luck!! I'm about to take a test for a $23/hr property maintenance job!! This will be my first "maintenance man" job too!! Hopefully I'll get lucky lol!! I do have a associates degree in HVAC so that helps
Thank you thank you thank you! I have a Roper that agitates fine but doesn't spin unless I turn it off and turn it back on I'm not mechanically inclined but your video really helped me a lot! Thank you
Freaky! Just got a Emergency call on the way in to work this morning. Washing machine wouldn't drain or cut off the water when full. Flooded 2 full apartments in a 4 plex. W/D's are the residents responsibility for repairs, luckily. Got to love the Senior communities. The lady said she started a load of laundry and went to read a book. Her neighbor was the one who called it in. She had no clue. Must have been a good book!
Thanks for this great video, Lex. I have a similar washing machine that spin dries when it is empty or has a small load. But as soon as the load size increases, it does not spin dry the cloths, what could be the possible cause? Whenever it spin dries there is a course load noise for the duration of the spin.
My washer would halfway fill with water after completing a load....so figured it was a timer. Plastic connector attaching harness to timer was melted some between a brown & a red/white wires(#5). Green corrosion at those areas. Cleaned, put heat shrink on end of metal sockets terminals at those 3 wires(#5 or #6..lighter brown) so terminals wouldn't touch/arc. Put egrease on male pins of timer after cleaning some of them. Works. Blew thru water level switch couple dozen times...clicked. Nothing chewed on. Going to close it up after watching 2 loads go thru. I'm a electrical airplane mechanic so I know how to remove pins out of connectors. Never have worked on a washing machine so had to get my head around new surroundings & around my work schedule. Learned a few things. Not sure what caused the wires to melt the plastic...droplet of water?
@@LexVance thx for your help. The shrinkwrap is protecting the terminals. Guess I need to hold those burnt wires to see if they are still getting hot. Washer doing well. Just need to put it back together :)
Is that 'container box' that the tube connects to, supposed to be full of water? When I pull the tube off, water shoots upward out of nipple. My washer does its business, fills with water again, and then cuts off with clothes floating in water.
@LexVance Thx! I guess water from tub goes into it(just trying to work thru this in my head/new to this).. Need to drain tub as its trying to overflow now. Then I can blow on tube & see if pressure switch clicks(doubt it does since its overflowing). How do I open the control panel on top(where knobs are & knob for water height is)? I turned knob for water height to low but water still filled to overflowing so know pressure switch is one problem I have. Other is probably timer since machine fills tub again before shutting off. 3rd is when I pull out on "off" knob, it doesn't cut off, at least when water is filling. Well ought to be an interesting project. Thx for your help.
Hey Lex you probably aren’t allowed to answer this question but what is your options on NAA “National Apartment Association”? Do you think they do a good job with training good maintenance techs? I’m thinking about probably taking their certification course.
I've never taken or heard of that course. I know the maintenance industry as a whole does a terrible job training any techs at all. That's why I made this UA-cam channel. If they don't want to do it, then I'll do it dang it. Thank you so much for watching Longhorns!
Warning: the capacitors hold a charge and can electrocute you even if the washer is unplugged. A lot of people who are inexperienced do not know this and it has killed people so you must unenergize the capacitor if messing with it. Do not touch the metal prongs on the end!!!! Although o haven’t done it myself I have seen videos of people deenergizing or whatever it’s called, the capacitor so please watch a video on that and do that before handling it
No, everything I know I Iearned from watching people and just getting out there and getting my hands on it. It was stressful in the beginning and I struggled. Thank you so much for watching Adam!
Mine washes the clothes and aggitates then drains.. it doesnt fill back up to rinse after that. The timer moves but just joticed a little while ago that i can push it down to tirn it off and it still does stuff. So do i need to replace the timer?
You might think it’s a big fix but then you get to find the fix and you realize it’s something as Simple as something being clogged or it’s broken timer
Could have a broken stabilizing band. They're in the corners on top of the tub. Also, if it's overloaded with clothes it'll do that. Take clothes out and see.
I am having problems with my spin cycle. I have tried unplugging for a minute and then lifting the lid six times, but unfortunately, that didn't fix it. How can I test the tube without putting my mouth on it like you did? There is no way I will put my mouth on it. It's a used washing machine. Ick!
If the motor smells burned then there's a high possiblity that it's burned out and needs to be replaced. I would need to be there for this head scratcher. 🤔
The belt may have popped off the motor. Or, the motor maybe be bad. Or the capacitor. It could be numerous things I'd need to be there to see what's going on.
Ok I have exactly same machine. I reset the switch per another video. My hose needed exactly the same thing. Except I had to build me a tool to go way farther. Got it unclogged, & the pressure switch to click on & off. 😊 I have draining & rotation but no spin. No broken parts I can find below. Hoping not to take the motor off to replace coupler. It's not making that kind of sound. So I guess next check is the compositor 😶 Thank you for all the very basic instructions (like how to get into the machine. Lol & your kind casual tone. The pressure switch could be bad and not giving the right pressure so it's calling for it to stop. I'd need to be there for this head scratcher. 🤔

Does the capacitor have any affect on the agitator? I have this same washer and it will agitate but not spin. Pressure line is clear, belt is on.
May be a bad pressure switch. I've seen that be the cause.

The pressure switch hose could be clogged. You can pull it off and see if it's gunked up.
Wonder what will get into the hose
to clog it? Soapy water? in a vacuum hose?
Years and years of soap, fabric softener and dirt. Turns into a muck and clogs it. Thank you so much for watching Senior!
