    You rock, bro. I've been fixing stuff at home for a long time now, most repairs have been relatively easy but I'll tell ya - it often takes longer to find a video that is clear, fast and minus all the blah, blah, blah than it does to do the actual repair! You provide perfectly clear, easy to follow, easy to see directions with no ten minute intro featuring your dog. Not that I have a problem with people's dogs - I'm just here to learn something! The Repair Clinic video for this same fix instructs people to remove the case! Oh, my god, why? That's a huge waste of time. Also no need to detach the wiring harness, which they also advise, though at least that only adds a few seconds. I found it best for me to lay the washer down on its back. The rest was no sweat. I paid 8 bucks for the part, obviously up in price from 8 years ago. For people never doing it before, don't expect 10 minutes to fix, though. Took me an hour, but that includes cleaning the underside, gathering tools, setting up a light, disconnecting hoses, putting it all back. I call that a win. 8 bucks, one hour - thanks, man. I'll be checking your vids first in the future!

    I owe you at least one case of beer. I couldn't get a repair company to come out to fix our washer. We have three adults and one newborn baby in the house, we needed our washing machine. Your diagnosis was spot on. The Amazon part number was right. Your step-by-step instructions where also spot on. The only difference in my machine was that there were only clips and not bolts holding everything together. 10 minutes start to finish. Thanks Again!

    I know you did this video tutorial 6 years ago but I just found it because I have the exact same model number washer & dryer as you do. Should I ever have this problem in the future, I have this to reference how to fix it. So far, the only thing I had to fix was the broken auger (the top part of the agitator) which was not spinning. That was one of the fastest and easiest fixes I've ever done on a washer. Like in this video, my repair only costed me $6.00. What needed replacing were the four dogs inside the auger. Only tool needed was a ratchet with a 7/16 socket on an extender. Thanks Chris for doing this fix.

We just moved into a duplex so we’d have more space but had to buy our own washer and dryer. Could only afford a $135 used set and just about broke down because the washer wasn’t spinning. I have that EXACT MODEL Washing Machine! I bought the coupler, took it apart and noticed that my Coupler WAS NOT DAMAGED. I changed it anyway. Then upon re-assembly I found the REAL PROBLEM: One of my Pump Retaining Brackets was Rusted and Brittle causing the Pump to dislodge from the Motor during the Spin Cycle which made the washer make that "same sound" when it's not turning. I'm getting another Pump Retainer Bracket tomorrow and my issue will be resolved. Thanks Chris for pointing me in the right direction!!!

    Completed the job in 10 minutes after watching this video. Washer now spinning, and wife happy and thinks I'm a mechanical genius. THANKS AGAIN, CHRIS!
    Suggestion #1: When tapping the couplers on the shafts, I used a large socket (larger than the shaft) straddled the shafts and tapped the socket with the rubber mallet, rather than the white plastic couplers themselves to prevent maybe breaking off one of the nubs.
    Suggestion #2: As for the part, consider getting the updated version, 285753 which has a metal insert, ostensibly stronger and less likely to get chewed up and round out like the original version.
    Part prices currently (re: 2022 inflation) now range from about $7 for aftermarket to as much as $47 for OEM. crazy. Still cheaper than an hour of labor by from a service tech.

    The farther back you can lay over the machine, the easier it will be w/o having to remove the cabinet. Beyond 45º worked well. The weight of the motor will assist in re-seating the motor to the transmission. I used a dab of dishwashing liquid on the plastic tabs of the coupler to make it easier to slide the motor onto the seated coupler in the transmission. A rubber mallet is a must. Not quite the "5-minute job" Chris billed it to be, but still HUGE cudos to him for providing this video and enabling me to avaoid a call to the Maytag [in this case, Kenmore] repair man! Thanks, Chris!

      Can you just lay it down on its back completely? And work from the bottom?

    • @steverahe
      @steverahe 6 років тому

      yes, but then you'd want to remove the H and C supply hoses and the drain hose. So instead put a bucket or paint can BEHIND the machine when tilting it back so you don't have to take off the hoses etc.

    • @christinamarie4002
      @christinamarie4002 2 роки тому

      Another important reason NOT to lay the washer entirely down on the floor-there’s a vent hole on the top surface of the gear case and it can leak oil. It is nearly impossible to refill this oil and a new gear case is big bucks$.
