    We have a Maytag stacked washer/Dryer Combo that hums after filling tub and Rinse cycle tries to start. I've replaced the water pump (So there is nothing in the pump) and the lid switch. What I did find is if I pull the belt from the motor to the pump a few times the pump kicks in and the rinse cycle begins. Problem is it never stops until it reaches the off. It doesn't drain it goes right though the spin cycle. So I'm thinking its something with the belt or the motor. Any ideas?

  • @cavemanjoe7972
    @cavemanjoe7972 4 роки тому +6

    Awesome video, but my whirlpool drains, and then the motor hums during spin and the tub locks up. I'll be checking the pump before I order any parts though.
    *Edit:
    It was the clutch. $21 at the scratch & dent appliance store down the street and 1/2 an hour later, it works great. Also replaced the dogs in the upper agitator housing, (another $5), because it was twisting but not turning. Not bad for about 2 hours total on a Saturday.

    Watched 4 videos, your take on the problem sounded like my issue. Went back down at 11:50pm. So I flipped it back to the wall pulled out the pump found a purple 2 x 2 washer cloth. Since “ prince “ hasn’t visited since the 80’s , it was my wife’s make up remover pad. Some how found its way in the hamper. I was done and back upstairs at 12:15 am.

Sure enough a small piece of cloth stuck in the pump. Pulled it out, put it back, and it started up and drained just fine. The fact that it was humming like you said is what gave it away, motor was trying to turn. Will be a hero when the wife gets home! Saved me hundreds, thanks! :-)

Last thing I washed was my cat’s little bed but I noticed some of the stuffing came out into the washer and I had a hard time pulling it out. Thank you Reggie for your demonstration! Well done, even when the going got tough! Today is Memorial Day, and with all the holidays, my luck has it that at least one home appliance has to break down on a holiday (my walk behind mower drive also quit being self-propelled today) my washer would not go into the spin cycle, so after checking the lid switch, capacitor and belt for functionality, now I'll check out the pump for an obstruction. (after pumping out the water out of the drum, I found out how my wife is laundering money and also found one of her little socks under the agitator) If I need parts I will buy from your website! this is the kind of advertising that gets my attention! Mannnn, you are definitely the MAN!!!! I appreciate this video you made, because it was exactly what I needed to do to get my washer working again!!! My 2 year old baby boy sock got in there, it was really difficult to get out, but I am now 1 for 1!!!! Lol... Thanks again!!!!!

    Reggie, a billion times thank you!!! You are a life saver. Such a simple dilemma that's causing a major headache. We almost spent $100+ on a new motor or $50 on a new capacitor or $2500 on a new W/D set. You're a godsend. Cheers to you!!

    Bro. You're the first video i watched and with work and everything it took me 3 weeks to try what your video said and this is exactly what's wrong. It took me like 25 minutes maybe. And I didn't even have to do as much as you did I just put it on its side and pulled everything from the bottom. The hardest part was getting the damn metal straps back on with almost no room to see or anything but one of my goals was to start trying to fix more stuff around my house by myself. Because I would have just spent like $150 on a used washing machine and for what? Thank you!

    This video saved me! My husband was preparing to purchase a new washing machine, which wasn't in our plan, until I found this video. We have 4 young children, with 3 under the age of 4, and a ton of laundry. It was indeed a baby sock jamming the pump! Thank you so much!!!

    Thank you for generously sharing your knowledge with calm and expertise. When you were patiently removing the sock, you had me laughing out loud, where in real life I'd be crying out loud. I will cherish this lesson for the next time I reach that point, and I will! Butterknife is my most prized tool in the pink tool box!

    Take a cordless screw gun put a half inch bit hit it a couple of times it grabs sock,and pull ,put in reverse to back out if it don't come out.

    Got to say the information I found in this video was very useful. I was working on a general electric washer but it basically came down to the same thing. The washer ate a pillow and the fluff clog the drain so it wouldn't drain at all. But I was able to pull the drain out and get the drum spinning again. Thanks a lot

    Oh man, I always watch some video that makes repairs look really easy and as I get into it, it ends up being less simple. I had the same symptoms but nothing clogging the pump. After that I got intimidated and called a repair guy. He said it was a capacitor or timer. The capacitor would be an extra $110 after his $65 just to come out, which he couldn't guarantee would fix it, or the timer which would be $450 and I might as well get a new one. I think I'm getting a new washer after spilling too much water on the floor and stressing myself out taking my washer apart (I don't mistake myself that any "repairs" I attempt could go horribly wrong). Happy to see this helped many people.
