  • Welcome to today's woodturning project! This time I made a vase out of split firewood and some white colored resin. Interesting project with a simple form, that I finished with Danish oil.
    Hope you enjoy the video!

Turned out good. I like clear resin so you can see the wood.

Beautiful! Also... please use gloves and a mask when mixing uncured resin! It can cause a lot of health issues in the long run

    Exact amount of resin!
How you arrived at that exact quantity.?

How long was the drying process with the epoxy? On a side note, good work, interesting concept and amazing result.

Resin cures, it doesn’t dry. I assume the resin used here is two-part epoxy resin, which has a curing time between 24-48 hours. It cures faster in warm, dry conditions.

How about using a circular form and not having to slice off portions which are wasted and cost you for the materials?

    • @ethankrantz1669
      @ethankrantz1669 2 місяці тому

That would be almost impossible to do with the desired pattern
The purpose of this is to cut the wood and resin simultaneously and keep an even grain so it looks like one material

How do you know he doesn't wear them? Did I miss it in the video? Never seen his face in any of the videos I saw by now.
But you are right, he should. Couldn't help but notice his fingers look like they hurt already. Which makes it even more impressive that he does this work. I like his style

Such a pity you're not able to make anything without resorting to plastic. Destroying the planet one piece at a time 😢

Wow. Guess you forgot the kindergarten lesson that says “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”
How bout this: think of the firewood he is keeping from being burned, thereby keeping carbon and other chemicals from polluting the atmosphere. Saving the planet one piece of firewood at a time.

    • @nextxguy1964

Plastic is not destroying the planet as fast as the liberals/democrats are. You do know everything you own has plastic in it. Right?

I had my struggle with watching videos about this kinda art, cos of that resin stuff etc.
Like "don't support that". But I came to the conclusion, that the pieces here will get very, very, very very old. And they are good quality.
There are way worse uses of plastic, or waste of plastic.
And for me the videos have therapeutic effect too. I am watching this before I sleep. Calms me. The sounds are nice

    Good job again!
But in my eyes the colour of the resin doesn`t match to the firewood. It looks like an accident with white wood glue...
