You asked for opinions so: I love the top. I love the base. But not in combination. They distract from each other and clash. I agree with others a nice simple polished concrete or marble top - preferably round on the deco base. A simple and understated base for that beautiful yew river top, and in wood….
The top is beautiful, and the base isn't bad, but I don't think it goes with the top. The top is very naturalistic with the wood grain and edges where the base is very artificial looking. A more natural wood base would be better in my opinion.
Was going to say the same thing. I think the top could still work, but the live edge would need to be squared off to match the base design. Alternatively, use live edge pieces to build the base up in the same style would look great, but I can't imagine the challenge that would pose.
That is weirdly beautiful! I love art deco, so the geometric base appeals to me, but I also love the natural wood. The way the grain goes with the gorgeous blue makes it look like a coloured geological map of a river basin! I'd definitely give it house room!
I love the bass, I think it's extremely creative and artistic! I think I would have done a glass top on it rather than the one that you put on it. However, I absolutely love the top! I think that would make an amazing countertop in the kitchen or anywhere. LOL
I wasn't too sure at first, but now that I see it, it's really quite nice, I love the blue resin and the wood is just beautiful, all in all a lovely piece Andy
Oooooo this is very elvish in its look! It has a whole urban fantasy vibe that i seriously love! The spiral base is fantastic and the paint you chose makes it look like burnished steel!
The coolest piece of wood yew've ever seen. I really can't stop making wood puns. Been a little while since I left any kind of comment on any of your videos. Been quite caught up in life and all that fun stuff. I've always enjoyed watching the woodturning (and carpentry) process and getting to see what comes out of it! Very good content to watch when unwinding after a long day.
I Love Yew. Love, Love, Love Yew. Whatever Yew is, I just Love it!! But seriously, I Love "Yew" That is Beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. Hugs, 🤗 from Woobie in Massachusetts USA
Don't knock the base. It might clash with the live edge yew, but it is so reminiscent of Art Deco moderne hard-soft formal styling, it has its own beauty. If you ever watched Poirot, they used that styling in a house of the era and style, and the naturalistic elements were always constrained to surfaces, and given machined edges, like flooring. So naturalism was secondary. But that base reminds me of the paintings of Baroness De Lempicka from that era - sensual but formed, and disciplined. Lol. I just woke up, so forgive me. I love your work.
Each of the two elements is beautiful, but I don't think they talk to each other. I couldn't begin to work out where it was going till the end. The sudden inversion was an Ooooh moment .
The table top is very beautiful! I can see myself looking at it for hours. I get the idea about the base - but it doesn’t have the rustic beauty of the top. It’s good to experiment though otherwise how does anyone come up with anything! Thanks for this. Very inspiring!
The base is perfection - are you measuring the angle as you put them on, or doing it by sight? The top is gorgeous, love the "river through land" feel to is. I honestly do not like the two together, I feel they distract from each other and would be better. But I see many people like it, so don't feed badly or change the piece. Best of luck with sales!
The natural wood is incredible, I love it. I really like the base, but I am not sure I would put it with that specific table. They're both gorgeous, I'm just not sure they go together. But maybe it would grow on me if I saw it regularly. Thanks for the video!
Love the yew, not sure i've warmed to the design, may take time, I actually thought that after gluing the boards together, that you might turn them. Love to see what you do with the rest of the yew. Cheers
The table top is magnificent, Andy, even with the river of blue goo running through it. This time I'm unable to denigrate the blue goo. Your artistic vision, and your execution of that vision is fantastic. 👍
The top is absolutely stunning, as others have said. The base just doesn't do it justice! There isn't any woodturning in this video, that's what I come here for. Still, an excellent piece overall.
I’ll admit, the top is top tier, but that base has a kind of concrete slab look that really doesn’t mesh well. You could lean into a concrete jungle look tho if you added some extra plant like details on the base, just as an idea
The table top is beautiful but really not sure about the base lol. To make it more 'fun' you could add bearings to each of the base slices so it could be rotated into any pattern you liked. May try that myself 😀
The table is great. That Yew is striking. OMG. You could also have used the whole length and made a console table out of it...or as a piece of art hung on the wall. (Yes this is just my opinion 😄...I would have painted the base the same color as the resin. That would imply the water ran very deep.
Ooooh 😮 I always loved these type of tables ❤. I agree about the base but only in the...color choice? Like, in my opinion, I feel pure wood look would be better. Ooh, or mini versions of the table top in the same pattern as the base 🤔
Overall it's a cool project! Love the wood grain pattern and the acrylic "river". I think it'd have been cool to turn the base so it was cylindrical, but the angular look plays, too
I have to agree that the pieces don't exactly go together. I agree with other comments that a glass top would've looked better with that base. I do love the top, but I think it's a shame to cover up those natural yew edges with opaque epoxy (but you already know how I feel about opaque epoxy in general, haha). I might've gone with a transparent bronze or gold to complement the heartwood. Watching your videos is never dull, no matter how the final project turns out (-:
Hi Andy, well here it goes. I thought to myself, what were Yew going to do with the YEW? I was hoping that Yew weren't gonna turn that fire pattern, because it is WAYY COOL ! I don't think we mind the base, its the Fire Top Pattern Yew, we are interested in. Where did Yew find this piece of wood ? See what I did there. Yew probably did !!!
The top and base dont harmonize or have anything in common, the vibrations they emanate visually and energetically are worlds apart, but your job on both is magnificent.
Andy not sure about base,I’m not sure about the whole thing, like the base though.good luck with it.great video as always.just keep doing your thing.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Yew is pretty awesome wood - I cut down a shrub for a neighbor and kept some of the wood to make trivets and bookmarks. After three years the color seems to have held fast - anyone have any other input on color retention?
Maybe a more transparent resin so you can see the live edges in the river? And I’m in agreement with the pairing- the base needs a light up resin sphere in line with its futuristic look, and the top needs a more rustic stand.
I agree with a lot of the comments. Natural top needs natural base in my mind. But at the same time I see some kind of story hidden in the piece, something about technology upholding a return to mother Earth maybe.
Agreed and it looks very insecure too. There's a couple mm each side of the screws and the board is only like 5mm thickness. Will likely break at some point
That top is stunning! I don't think it goes well with the base, though. I could see that base with like a slab of granite or marble.

I agree

Like combining art nouveau with modernist theory?
Was going to say the same thing. I think the top could still work, but the live edge would need to be squared off to match the base design. Alternatively, use live edge pieces to build the base up in the same style would look great, but I can't imagine the challenge that would pose.
Agreed
I agree, a top like that should have a nice understated base that won't distract. Maybe a simple log base to go with the live edge theme
That is weirdly beautiful! I love art deco, so the geometric base appeals to me, but I also love the natural wood. The way the grain goes with the gorgeous blue makes it look like a coloured geological map of a river basin! I'd definitely give it house room!
As he started pouring the resin the phrase 'A river runs through it' clearly came to mind.
I love the bass, I think it's extremely creative and artistic! I think I would have done a glass top on it rather than the one that you put on it. However, I absolutely love the top! I think that would make an amazing countertop in the kitchen or anywhere. LOL
Just love the simplicity of the stand design that makes this piece shine. I've no doubt this will be snapped up after it hits your site! Well done!!
The base was very interesting, I believe it works well with table top. You took quite a chance on this one. Very nicely done

"Yew done" good! Nice looking top. ❤❤🎵🎵
I Love Yew. Love, Love, Love Yew. Whatever Yew is, I just Love it!! But seriously, I Love "Yew" That is Beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. Hugs, 🤗 from Woobie in Massachusetts USA
I wouldn't have thought to put these two together, but it works! I like the combination and they way it turned out. Nicely done!
It’s gorgeous! The combo is really striking.
That’s absolutely beautiful, and one of the best things I’ve seen recently creating out of wood and resin. I love it.
Thanks so much 😊
Looks fantastic! The base looks great 👍
I was starting to question.🤔🫣🤦♀️🤷♀️ Until you turned it over.... 😍🥰 Beautiful table!! 👏🤟🤗
WOW Andy, I did not see that coming. That is a beautiful piece of wood and it got a great home! !! !!!
I think Yew has become my favorite wood! It’s so beautiful! What a luxurious piece!
I love the base, and the top is absolutely stunning, but not sure about them together. That top though, Holy cow that is so beautiful!
Don't knock the base. It might clash with the live edge yew, but it is so reminiscent of Art Deco moderne hard-soft formal styling, it has its own beauty. I like art deco so the stand is reminiscent of that. The wood is absolutely gorgeous. Very unique table.
Each of the two elements is beautiful, but I don't think they talk to each other. I couldn't begin to work out where it was going till the end. The sudden inversion was an Ooooh moment .
The yew wood is exquisite and precious.
The table top is very beautiful! I can see myself looking at it for hours. I get the idea about the base - but it doesn’t have the rustic beauty of the top. It’s good to experiment though otherwise how does anyone come up with anything! Thanks for this. Very inspiring!
Absolutely beautiful - love the independence of both pieces put together as one ❤️❤️❤️
Somehow I knew you would make a table so beautiful that no one would dare set anything on it for fear of covering any of the beauty.
Stunning! My favorite piece so far.
I like that sir wish i had your creative mind and the talent to make it happen.
I think they go well together, Andy. Yew did a great job (sorry but I had to do it lol).
Bill
Wow, this is absolutely stunning! I loved it! ❤
Thanks
Omg. This wood is gorgeous.
Hi Andy,
Well you fooled with one! I never seen that one coming. Stunning table top. Love your work.
Thanks 👍
The base is perfection - are you measuring the angle as you put them on, or doing it by sight? The top is gorgeous, love the "river through land" feel to is. I like the entire piece! I think it works well together.

Very nice, the wood is beautiful. another great video.

Thanks 👍
I like the base and I love the top but I don't think they should be together. Love your work Andy! Keep it up and thanks for sharing.
A river runs through it!❣️
Well, yew've done it again! 🙂 Looks fantastic and an interesting contrast between the base and the table top.
Hi Andy! This is a beautiful cocktail table, very nice 👍. Best regards from Hans and Cheers 🍻🇦🇹.
Amazing, Andy! Fantastic work! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
The top is absolutely stunning, as others have said. The base just doesn't do it justice! There isn't any woodturning in this video, that's what I come here for. Still, an excellent piece overall.
What did you spray on the live edges at 01:35 before you scrubbed them?
Methylated spirit
I’ll admit, the top is top tier, but that base has a kind of concrete slab look that really doesn’t mesh well. You could lean into a concrete jungle look tho if you added some extra plant like details on the base, just as an idea
Such talent and skill. It became a work of art 👏👏
Muito bonito parabéns
So beautiful! I happen to love the base.
Andy, I just read your comment about making a new base for the top and new top for the base - I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Now for something completely different! 🙂 Looks good, definitely like the top tho,
Very inspirational you really nailed Andy. Keep the dream alive son Aussie Aussie Aussie GDAY MATE from brisbane Australia
I hope you are healthy, successful and always happy
Thanks Andy, this looks very interesting indeed. Let's see how it holds up. 👍💪✌
Gorgeous piece of Yew!

Very pretty, it matches my coffee table in my living room except it's not Yew slabs. But Yew did a great job...😊❤❤
The yew resembles a topographic map and is very lovely. I agree with the previous comment about the base, it seems to conflict with the top.
I like it. I love the contrast of the 2 styles
Ooooh 😮 I always loved these type of tables ❤. I agree about the base but only in the...color choice? Like, in my opinion, I feel pure wood look would be better. Ooh, or mini versions of the table top in the same pattern as the base 🤔
Very cool!! I like it!! So unusual not seeing you on the lathe.
Glad you liked it!
Yew really got me!😊
Okay that base is really cool. I should try some segment pieces.😁
Nice work Andy, you have a real Garfunkel there😁😁
Cheers
Никогда не видел такого дерева. Очень красивая структура!
Very neat!
Beautiful piece
Wow! Ingenious!
Overall it's a cool project! Love the wood grain pattern and the acrylic "river". I think it'd have been cool to turn the base so it was cylindrical, but the angular look plays, too
Excelente job! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It's always a GREAT day when we get a resin pour video!
I have to agree that the pieces don't exactly go together. I agree with other comments that a glass top would've looked better with that base. Very nice and I love both the top and the bast!
The top and base dont harmonize or have anything in common, the vibrations they emanate visually and energetically are worlds apart, but your job on both is magnificent.
Thanks.. did you read the video description
What was the adhesive you used to glue the MDF together? With Thanks.
I used D4 hybrid glue by everbuild
Stunning!
Honest opinion!? Beautiful top, interesting base. But I personally would replace the base with a wooden one. Kind regards.
never-ending Gorgeous work
Looks fantastic 🎉❤
Andy not sure about base,I’m not sure about the whole thing, like the base though.good luck with it.great video as always.just keep doing your thing.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Love it, always love the resin videos
Awesome looking table!!!!
you really love this job
Yew is pretty awesome wood - I cut down a shrub for a neighbor and kept some of the wood to make trivets and bookmarks. After three years the color seems to have held fast - anyone have any other input on color retention?
Very interesting and lovely
Great job as always, Andy. Although, the top's irregularity makes it feel incomplete to me because of the two straight edges vs the natural edges.
You got a video on your clamping board you have on the table there?
Sorry I dont
@@AndyPhillipWoodturning thx for replying 👍🏻
Fantastic!
I think it looks great! ❤
Thats a lovely piece of timber. Not a huge fan of the base but each to their own.
Watching at 5 am !
I like it because it seems miss-matched, it looks futuristic
Maybe a more transparent resin so you can see the live edges in the river? And I’m in agreement with the pairing- the base needs a light up resin sphere in line with its futuristic look, and the top needs a more rustic stand.
I think they are both beautiful 😊
I agree with a lot of the comments. Natural top needs natural base in my mind. But at the same time I see some kind of story hidden in the piece, something about technology upholding a return to mother Earth maybe.
To be honest, I don't really like the base. It's a mismatch with the top.
Agreed and it looks very insecure too. There's a couple mm each side of the screws and the board is only like 5mm thickness. Will likely break at some point
The top and base are both beautiful. But maybe not paired the best with each other. Still..you are the artist of your craft 🇺🇸❤️
