Melissa is so creepy in a wonderful, rock and roll kind of way. When she gets behind her bass on those heavy songs she just becomes this demon! Man, I love her!
@@Jules-cv3tq😅lol this is near perfect how progressively worse its getting. Especially among blonde females. Pretty sure they're on the virge of their own language rn
James contributes more than you can imagine: he wrote "mayonnaise" in its entirety, wrote the lead lines over much of "Today"'s verses, wrote the bridge to "Hummer" and several others.
The Pumpkins were arguably the first "real" band I got into when I started listening to proper music in 2006. I started-out with Siamese Dream which I hardly play anymore, and it wasn't until 2022 that I finally appreciated Machina. It's now surpassed even Mellon Collie as my favourite Pumpkins album, and I can't believe it took so long. I also never realised just how amazing a drummer Jimmy Chamberlain is until now.
Why am I so addicted to watching the live performance of this song..the sound engineering was terrible and the audience are all just politely sitting in chairs except one in the front row who you see rocking out for a second as the camera pans to the audience ..I just love how raw it all comes across..superb
There's not very many good live performances of this song... Seems like the studio version is by far the best iteration of the song, which isn't always the case. But this take was pretty solid, even if the crowd looked lethargic.
i never knew why everyone hated Machina, did anyone actually listen to that record? those melodies are amazing, the styles between songs are completely different, very artsy and avant-garde yet very appealing on a pop level. absolutely hands down ten times the record Mellon Collie was, the only difference being there was no Bullet with Butterfly Wings or 1979 to keep the Fair Weather fans happy.
His voice is an instrument. If you really take time to listen to the nuances, it is very unique and passionate. The same applies to the studio recordings. His singing has a rare character that some would not understand.
I remember constantly listening to this song and the album when I was courting my then highschool sweetheart. I gave her rose shaped and scented candles as I did not believe in flowers and how it wilts quickly. Oh how teenage angst and love can make you do things, ha! And yeah, I wholeheartedly love the pumpkins.
I think the Machina albums are seeing the re-evaluation they deserve, and a lot of younger people who are just now getting into the Pumpkins are latching onto those above the others. They were always my favourites, especially Machina II. I think Slow Dawn is the best song he ever wrote, but this one is up there too.
Truly only thing I've ever heard get close to pumpkin sound is tool/...but they are still very different... But when it come to the whole dark pscadelic stuff pumpkins do it best !!!
good to see Billy smiling and having a good time. Melissa is rawking out and looking good. Jimmy is lost in a sea of drums as usual. and James, i miss James. he looks like an Asian David Bowie in this performance.
I'm not going to get into an an argument withe the Pumpkin-Heads: but, i am of the generation who watched SNL in 1993 with shock and speechless awe when then Pumpkin's performance left us doumbfounded. Though this might be the best song Billy ever wrote.
such an underrated song. This has to be one of the top 5 songs he ever wrote. Music today couldn't even make a song this good

Melissa’s bass sounds absolutely huge on this. Love it.
power of the precision bass... once I played one I pushed all my others to the side
Thickest bass sound they ever had. Brutal AF 👌🏻

Mayonnaise was a collaboration between James and Billy
This is the most beautifull, and possibly the greatest song he has ever written.
Most definitely my favorite SP song, and it's really not even close.
That guitar solo makes my heart rate through the roofs.
The solo gives me the biggest chills
Blame it on James....
LOL..
But Billy starts soloing here and totally drowns out James e-bow solo.
Anyone know who played the solo on the studio version?
Machina/The Machines of God is one of the most underrated albums of all time.
This song is simply perfect.
Sixteen years and still being the best love song ever

In my opinion this was the best version of Pumpkins. Melissa was just such a great addition to the band

Eso es todo CHINGAOS!!! ARRIBA LOS PUMPKINS!!!
I like how Melissa is rocking out on bass and everyone else is like standing still. You can tell she came from a different kind of band.
Perfect performance of a perfect song.
Machina is so underrated...
I'd even put Machina ahead of Ava Adore (without mono remastered)..
It's such a good album. Loved it from the day it came out.

Melissa’s bass sounds GREAT!
This song has aged well and seems stronger than at its release.
that year 2000 i bought a crafter guitar, i used to listen to this song over and over again during my afternoon job-breaks
Best love song ever!
Magic sound what a voice
2:54 James' Guitar riff is amazing!
Beautiful song and, though I rarely like their stuff live, they do good here. James and Billy are prodigious.
Jimmy's a badass
I just noticed that Jimmy 's drums set is AWESOME!!
Yes, he is Jimmy... a fat Jimmy... one of the best drummers i ever seen

Una de las mejores formaciones, Auf der Maur explota en el bajo.
She played bass no banjo!
I totally agree! Her bass just hums in there so sweetly.
