So touching! I always think of my wife when I hear this because I thought she was out of my league in both beauty and class when I first laid eyes on her...I grew up poor and shy and was a late bloomer. She was indeed breathtaking, yet she chose me and 27 years (24 years of marriage, Silver coming up) later she still takes my breath away! The song brings me to tears every time I hear it because I know how incredibly lucky I am! She didn't wear red on any of our early dates, but it's the FEELING expressed in the song...he just can't believe he's the one cheek to cheek with this amazing, gorgeous, spectacular woman that any man would desire...I felt and feel the same! ❤️✌🏻✌🏻❤️

Chris de Burgh is a phenomenal talent. Don't pay the Ferryman. Ship to Shore, Borderline, High on Emotion, Say goodbye to it All, Patricia The Stripper and the amazing Spanish Train - (plus many more) are fantastic songs and worth a listen. My wife was a big fan when we started dating in Highschool ( I had only heard of Don't pay the Ferryman at that time) and really got me tuned in to his music.

His voice is so smooth and emotional and yes my then boyfriend and I went to a dinner dance with my parents and I was wearing red. Its wonderful when you are dancing to this and your boyfriend is singing along with Chris, a very romantic evening. I'm so happy that you enjoyed hearing Chris, I don't remember his other songs but he has many on UA-cam I was trying to sleep but its very hot and humid here again, we are promised lower temperatures from tomorrow and I am hoping its right lol. Although he didn't start out writing the song about his wife, as originally it was meant to be a love song called The Way You Look Tonight. His wife was actually the lady in red that he looked at at a function that night across the room, then he found the catch of the song to use, as there was already a song called that title he had wanted to use that came out before he could debut his own. She had just looked so stunning to him that that became the new title The Lady In Red

This was my great uncle and aunts song. I have never seen 2 people that were so in love for many many years. From early days right until my aunt sadly passed in 2016 they would just dance together at parties and even alone in their living room, and this was my uncles song to my aunt. We played this at her funeral and it was so bitter sweet as she sadly wasn't here but there were so many beautiful flashbacks of family parties where they would dance to this song. So this song reminds me that true love does exist

I'm late to the game with my comments but here goes. I started listening to Top 40 hits in 1964 when I was 9 years old. So here is my personal Top 50 Discography.
You Already Played It! #1. "“In the Year 2525" - Zager & Evans 1969
    2. “Louie Louie” - The Kingsmen 1963 No one can prove the exact lyrics. They were never recorded by the band.
    3. “They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” - Napoleon XIV 1966 NOTE: The B side of the 45 was the song in reverse. We sang the reverse also as it actually got airtime on AM radio in Los Angeles. To make this reaction completely bizzare, you should play the first 30 seconds of the B side and react to how could this have been played on the radio. :)
I put this near the top of my list because it was so, so weird, I doubt anyone else will ever have on their list but it just needs to be reacted to!
    4. “Wild Thing” - The Troggs 1966
    5. "Build Me Up Buttercup" Foundations 1967
    6. "Sugar Sugar" - The Archies 1969
    Already Played - #7. "Brandy" - Looking Glass 1972
Already Played - #8. “Spirit In The Sky” - Norman Greenbaum 1969
    9. “Angel Of The Morning” - Merrilee Rush 1968 (forget the juice newton cover. this was the original).
    10. "You Light Up My Life" - Debby Boone 1977
    My other favorites:
Already Played - “Seasons in the Sun” - Terry Jacks 1974 (This is the biggest canadian seller ever)
Already Played - "Dancing in the Moonlight" - King Harvest 1972
Already Played - “Play That Funky Music” - Wild Cherry 1976
Already Played - "Drift Away" - Dobie Grey 1973
Already Played - "My Sharona" Knack 1979
Other recommended favorites not in rank order.
    - "Shannon" - Henry Gross 1976. Shannon was Carl Wilson's dog. He was run over in 1975 and this honored him after his death.
    - “Worst That Could Happen” - The Brooklyn Bridge 1969
    - "O-o-h Child" - Five Stairsteps 1970
    - "To Sir with Love" - Lulu 1967 Not a OHW in the UK but this was her only top 20 hit in the US. From the movie "To Sir With Love" staring Sidney Poitier
    - "The House of the Rising Sun" - Eric Burdon & the Animals 1964
    - "Girl from Ipanema" - Astrud Gilberto 1964 It's been covered more than any song except Yesterday but this was the international #1 version, also a cover of a brazilian song.
    - "Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron" - The Royal Guardsmen 1966
    - "Put Your Hand in the Hand" Ocean 1971
    - "(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden" - Lynn Anderson 1970
    - “Classical Gas,” - Mason Williams 1968 (only an instrumental but probably the most famous one (5th of Beethoven also) so I'm not sure this can be reacted to but it won a grammy)
    - "Sealed with a kiss" - Bobby Vinton 1972
    - “Kung Fu Fighting” - Carl Douglas 1974
    - "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" - The Tokens 1961 The was one of many covers of a song from africa but only the Tokens took it to #1 and it was their only hit.
    - “Wipe Out” - The Surfaris 1963
    - “Dirty Water” - The Standells 1966
    - “Eve Of Destruction” - Barry McGuire 1965
    - “Green Tambourine” - The Lemon Pipers 1966
    - "More Today than yesterday" - Spiral Staircase 1969
    - "Walk Away Renee" - Left Banke 1966
    - "You were on my mind" - We Five 1965
    - "Lotta Love" - Nicolette Larson 1978
    - "Midnight at the Oasis" - Maria Muldaur 1973
    - "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" - Fortunes 1971
    - “Grazing in the Grass” - Hugh Masekela 1968
    - "Red Rubber Ball" - The Cyrkle 1966
    - "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" - Edison Lighthouse 1970
    - "If You Want It" - Niteflyte 1979
    - "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" - T. Rex 1971
    - "One Tin Soldier - Coven 1969
    - "Winchester Cathedral" - The New Vaudeville Band 1966
    - “Harper Valley P.T.A.” - Jeannie C. Riley 1968
    - “Ring My Bell” - Anita Ward 1979
    - “Afternoon Delight” - Starland Vocal Band 1976
    - "Teen Angel" - Mark Dinning 1960 It's on the American Graffiti soundtrack.
    - “Judy in Disguise (With Glasses)” - John Fred and His Playboy Band 1968
    - "Hot Rod Lincoln" - Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen 1971
    - "Billy Don't Be a Hero" - Bo Donaldson & the Heywoods 1974
    - "I'm gonna make you mine" - Lou Christie 1969 (almost not a OHW)
    - "98.6" - Keith 1967
    - "Smile a Little Smile For Me" - Flying Machine 1969
    - "Ferry Cross the Mersey" - Gerry and the Pacemakers 1965
    - "United We Stand" - Brotherhood of Man 1970
    - "Treat Her Like a Lady" - Cornenlius Brothers and Sister Rose 1971
    - "Take a Letter Maria" - R.B. Greaves 1969
I recognize I left off a number of OHW that the group recommended multiple times, like patrick swayze, yvonne eliman, aldo nova. This is just my list, not exclusive.
Two Hit Wonders. These bands had one song that made them famous but also had a second song less famous but charted in the top 20.
"This Magic Moment - Jay and the Americans 1968 (Cara Mia and a few other hits)
"Little Red Riding Hood" - Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs 1966
Their other hit "Wooly Booly" 1965
    "Good Morning Starshine" Oliver 1969
    Other hit "Jean" 1969
"Put a little love in your heart" - Jackie DeShannon 1969
Other hit "What the World Needs Now is Love" 1965
    - "Signs" - Five Man Electrical Band
"YMCA" - Village People 1979 Techncially a two hit wonder with "In The Navy" also a hit but this was so popular, and it's endured so long, I think it belongs on this list. (Macho Man barely made the chart)

No unfortunately, there were literally I would say nine hundred people crammed in together maybe even over A thousand or more. It was a REALLY BIG deal over here, as we only had a handful of US soaps here at the time. Days was the most popular at that point and Steve was the biggest character at the time, so I'm sure the whole STATE of Victoria wanted to be there lol. And we had a crappy camera. So we asked some people near us with an expensive camera to send us some shots they took after they got them printed and gave them a little money and our address and they were nice enough to send us some STUNNING close ups of him- minus his patch- that FREAKED me out lol. He brought his patch with him and put it on for the crowd hehehe that really got us all wild Lol
