I love this airplane since I read Pierre Clostermann's book in which he details his encounter with the Pfeil while flying over Europe. He was astonished the Do-335 was able to outrun his Tempest (or Spitfire I can't remember exactly). This is an amazing kit. One thing that really impressed me when I saw this kit was its sheer size. It's huge. Really glad you shared this build with us.

After watching your first video, way back, I went on to Flea bay and managed to get the same kit, Paid $100.00AUD, was the cheapest one at the time, just glad I got it, loved your build it looks great.

I built one of these as a what if fighter going up against allied bombers. Your model looks great, but literally everyone does the exact scheme but it screams what if. Maybe next time do one as airfield defense with a red and white lower fuselage and wings. Whenever I get a 32nd one I'm gonna do that. Look at fw190D schemes. Plus a nightfighter version in Hungarian markings. Got it all figured out. Haha

I saw this kit at a store when it was first released and drooled over it (the aeroplane is amazing) and I am delighted that it is going to be re-released this year. I have started up the hobby again after a hiatus of 40 years and am currently getting kits for my retirement pleasure. I have a Corsair from Tamiya in my meagre stash (the one with the tug vehicle) and just know these models would look great together, even though they belonged to entirely different theatres of war.

I was glad Tamiya decided to release this kit again ! Like most of us who wanted to get one years ago and passed it up were left paying a small fortune for one on Ebay...etc.. It was a long wait but now we can finally have one and at a great price ! Bad news for the people who are trying to make a huge profit from the first release. Thank you Tamiya ! All good things come to those who wait. Cheers. Nice clean build by the way !

I have this kit - even though it was released in 2002, it feels quite dated with respect to the lack of surface details

This is the exact kit I am working on currently. I really appreciated the tips that you talked about in this video. I will have to try MRP paints in the future. Thanks again and wonderful build! Cheers.

Ah! What a lovely build! The wiring loom behind the instrument panel was a fine bit of work, a quality touch! 👏🏼👏🏼 I have now have this Tamiya kit but also have Dragons offering....(1/72 I think....apparently it’s a bit of a ‘mare)....so that’s a pair of arrows then....”The Dead Arrows”.....😂😂....a very distinctive aeroplane though....I’m starting to hanker after the Zoukei Mura 1/32 two seat version....”hold me back”! “hold me back”! 😂😂
I’m very much into Sovereign Hobbies enamel paint.....using their own thinners and a fine application, I can replicate their results, ie an almost dry to the touch finish and they’re pretty consistent as well, so that’ll be my paint choice!
On a different theme, AMP Models do a rather reasonable B2 Spirit Bomber....😎 It’s in 1/144 but that’s not a bad size, tbh and there’s a review of it on BritModeller....and yes, I bought it from Hannants, along with the photo etched upgrades....(must be bonkers)....but I now have the B1, B2 and B52H in 1/144 and (when they’re all built) they’ll sit alongside the GWH 1/144 selection of Vulcan, Victor and TSR2, with Micro Mir’s offering of the Valiant.
Keep up the vids....I’m about to watch your Comet build....🤪

So good to see one of these built in depth. You’ve done a great job on this.
If it was me, I’d grab the new release kit and build that with the resin exhausts, fill the sink mark in the wing etc; Leave this one as you’ve done it. Make your improvements in the second build.
Once again, great build and thank you for the entertaining content you provide. Keep up the great work.

Great build video!!! I built the 'up-armed" version of this kit, it has large gun barrels protruding from the wings - think they are supposed to be 30mm or something, do not remember. Also, have built the ancient Revell version once before way back in those ancient days of the 1970s. Can remember that it was a decent kit of this aircraft for the time. Do see the Revell kits in hobby shops and also mainly see the Tamiya 2-seater version in hobby shops as well. You are correct in that it is very rare to see this version you built & the "up-gunned" versions in hobby shops.
Also find it amazing that if this aircraft was in combat and was shot down, the pilot was able to activate some explosive chargers from the cockpit which would separate the tail section/rear propeller from the aircraft in order for him to safely bail out. If I remember correctly, there is a story of one of these aircraft in the Smithsonian Museum that was being renovated and the explosive charges were discovered to still be in place and active!! Anyway, always thought that this was an interesting/unique looking airplane.

I'd seen this kit show up in your videos earlier and really wanted to build one, but didn't want to break the bank to do it. So, I'm really happy that Tamiya decided to re-release this one so I can follow in your footsteps at some point without having to spend a small fortune to do so. :)

Looks great, not too many issues with it visible in the video. You're no beginner, so there's no doubt about being able to correct the decals later on. 👍 Such a cool airplane, I still have the Matchbox two seater I built as a kid.

I couldn't find one of these anywhere and had to resort to buying a built up version on eBay, in order to strip it down and repaint it. You can however swap it around between single and 2 seat versions. I'll definitely be buying a new one now it's available.

I actually did the same subject for a while back, same one you chose in fact! I acryally had sone minor issues with the decals as well, i never have any issues with Eaglecals but something about these were tricky, some silvering mostly but I had a hard time conforming the decals down into the panels, especially near the rear exhaust. Your finished model looks absolutely fantastic though!

    Very nice finish 👍
I have this in my stash but don't know if I'll get round to making it.
I bought a lot of kits over time fearing they'd go out of production then ended up with too many 🙄

Just a nitpick - the wheel set is for Do 335B, which had a different nose wheel leg and wheel (the wheel was bigger on B version and the leg retracted in a different way), so it infact should not fit right fo Do 335A kit ;-)
The end result is really nice - guess your video will make me build mine soon (with open engines from either Aires or Verlinden sets)

Hi, thank you very much for making these videos. They are very helpful. I was wondering if you could put links to the paints, tools and the like, that you use for each build, in the description. It would be very helpful. For instance, I've been trying to find the drill bits you use that have the bigger shank. Trying to pickup the tiny little ones I have becomes a pain. Again, thank you for all you do.

Many instruments (altitude, speed, climb/sink) are connected to one or two pressure sources (static prssure, dynamic pressure) these would be (rubber) hoses and in all probability not yellow. Gyro instruments (artificial horizon, turn/bank indicator) may be driven by venturi generated vacuum, more hoses.
I kind of doubt the use of RLM 65 on a late war plane. If I understood that right, one of the reasons to go away from RLM 65 was the use of cobalt pigments. Cobalt would be much more important as an alloying element in steel than as a pigment.

I'm sorry but as a builder on a very limited budget it madden to watch videos who add a ton of aftermarket thing's. Please don't get me wrong but selfishly I enjoy watching out of the box builds. Will I stop watching these videos? Heck no. It's your kit to build to your pleasure. I'm just getting into this hobby and trying to learn how to build. Thank you my friend. Dana

Hello sir, sorry im newand dont know your name yet. Im also new to modelling, my first was an airfix starter kit of an aston martin, i had a nightmare with it as i found many pieces didnt fit together, the end result wasnt good in my opinion but i did finish it. Then i brought a M35a1 quad .50 gun truck by ARV club. Again, an even bigger nightmare with parts not fitting and unclear plans. I work as a builder and feel i am capable of reading plans quite well. My question is, have i picked the wrong models to start with or is my patience and obvious lack of ability to blame ?. Pre thanks for any advice or constructibe criticism. I have been watching your shows and find them very inspiring.
