  • A “48 Hours” report helps trip up a wanted fugitive who spent more than four-and-a-half years on the run for allegedly killing his wife and staging a kidnapping. Correspondent Tracy Smith reports. Watch more full episodes of "48 Hours" on Pluto TV.
    "Peter Chadwick, who murdered his wife at their home in Newport Beach, California, was on the run when we first told the story of the manhunt for him. But he knew authorities were closing in on him - because, as we later found out when he was caught, he watched our '48 Hours' from his hiding place!" - Tracy Smith on why the story is important.

      Please rethink Tracy Smith as an interviewer. She's too over the top and why does she have to repeat everything everyone says??? 'You mean he stopped here?' 'You mean it was a suitcase full of men's clothes!?' "You mean he watched us on 48 hours..you mean he saw us??? You said he watched us on TV?' Good god, that's what the man said.

They are going to parole him if and when he terminally ill so the state can get out of providing him with the medical care associated with being elderly. Just because he is eligible for parole at 15 years doesn’t mean he is going to get it. Usually a parole board wants an admission of guilt, and years of remorse.

My mother n laws husband got kidnapped by his own son made his father sign all his pov and money to him. Paid a bunch of lawyers in Orange County that were connected to the judge. He put his father in a nursing home. And he got away with this. Gave around 200k to lawyers n court kept the rest. And he’s still trying to take my mother n law to court she’s 87. It’s his step son. She’s widowed the husband died in the nursing home 3 months later his own son put him in there when he kidnapped him from his own home with my mother n law.

      They say if a man loves the children, then he loves the wife. Conversely, if he doesn't love the children, then he doesn't love the wife. The fact that he murdered her and deposited her body in a dumpster says he was very angry with her. The fact he abandoned the 3 sons says he didn't love her. It seems that when he married her, she was young, pretty, and depended on him, but in time, she evolved, became independent, and looked like a Mom. His mistake, with all his money, was he didn't just divorce her. He could have given her and the kids the house and provided alimony until the kids were grown and she married someone else. He would have made out better than living in some remote Mexican town without his passports, on the run, and bussing tables. Make it make sense.

    That 911 call near mexico boarder was the most bizarre attempt I've seen a killer use!! Why would your wife's "killers" drive you all the way to the boarder and set you free?!! especially when he "identified" him as Won!!!What a stupid move and his nonchalant cold voice didn't show an ounce of panic or fear so someone who was allegedly just be kidnaped!!!
    Gosh, I believe her friend who mentioned how QC was becoming more confident. this creep was losing control and snapped! I pray their kids had therapy because such controlling narcissists tend to also be emotionally/mentally abusive towards the kids too

      Away at boarding school...piano lessons... camp in the summer...all the latest electronics and off to your room. They didn't lose their parents to begin with. They lost their MUM. )The dad ignored them. He took on the shy persona to avoid revealing his finances and double life. Spouses, don't let the devil know you are leaving, and will reveal their crimes. Grandpa knows all.

      No. 911 operators aren’t going to be thinking such juvenile & immature thoughts like that. They are professionals, who work long hard hours, and are well spoken individuals who train regularly w/ law enforcement. They aren’t going to be using your ghetto trashy lingo phrases like “are you high bruh?” That sounds so childish.

    What in the world is wrong with some of these judges?! They let this guy out on bail because he had three sons? The same three sons that he left standing at a bus stop while he was driving his wife's dead body to a dumpster? The same three sons that were sent to a boarding school while this character was out on bail? Give me a break. He didn't love those boys. He didn't even care about them. I can't stand to look at his picture. He is absolutely despicable.

    • @Jerseyboondocks
      @Jerseyboondocks Рік тому +13

      The judges did not let him out just because he had sons. They let him out because he was able to post a very large bail. That's the only reason.

    • @marygoff3332
      @marygoff3332 Рік тому +17

      @@Jerseyboondocksthe judge should have weighed all of the facts of the case, as the original poster documented in her comment. And they knew he was a multi-millionaire, so the bail was no big deal for him.
      The point is, they said the reason he got bail was because he had three children in the area, and yet he didn't show any concern or love for them. That should have been a huge red flag.

    • @kumarj4693

      @@marygoff3332 when one is rich, one can afford high power lawyers who have an old school network with several generations of sitting judges across the justice system, this can pull a lot of backroom deals for their generous criminal clients. They surely make bail and most of the time can get minimum sentences if they cannot procure an innocent verdict. That's how western criminal systems work. Welcome to the real world.
