As a lifelong Florida resident I can say that the prosecutor guy’s explanation of why Kim wasn’t suspected of lying was simply “well, she’s from the same neighborhood I’M from. Why would she be suspected of being a liar??” is so very typical of the mindset in small towns down here.
Because someone’s from a supposedly similar social standing as someone who considers themself above others, well by golly it’s inconceivable that they could do anything bad, and why should they even go through the trauma and stress of being LOOKED AT? 🙄 makes me absolutely nauseous. I’ve lived with this type of BS around me my whole life, in a small town an hour south of the capital city.

Most people have absolutely no idea how easy it is to be wrongly accused & convicted. And few people realize the massive discrepancy in funding for prosecutors vs public defenders. There are also a lot of unscrupulous prosecutors whose primary concern is “winning” & putting someone away. Those are elected positions & many want to appear “tough on crime” so they simply want to close the case. The actual guilt of the accused is inconsequential.
Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of dirtbags in prison who are guilty but few realize there are innocent people rotting away. And another huge issue is how many people are MASSIVELY overcharged & this is often based on race. It’s frustrating people are so blind to the systemic injustice.

There was one guy who was innocent, and got cancer during his time in prison. When they finally released him, he was given $20 and a gift card. If I'm not mistaken he died not long after he got his freedom. There are some states that won't even allow citizens to file a lawsuit for having their freedom taken away and unfairly prosecuted.

Prisons are a big business. They profit off of inmates so there is little incentive to change the system. It’s despicable. Few people know about things like the exorbitant rates charged for phone calls & the myriad other things these institutions monetize for their own enrichment.

If a case can be won based on pure circumstantial evidence as they say (and they did to this man) and do all the time, then they can go after Kim. She did it! So far she is living her best life and it’s gross! Or she had someone come and do it, and that’s the footprints.

I've been in jail before and it sucks, bad!! I can't even imagine being locked up for something I didn't do. Having had prior experience being in jail, especially back when I was, which was in 2008. Anyone who has ever been in jail, it's so hard to do anything in jail as far as contacting the outside. And if you really have no one on the outside to help you, it's basically impossible.
