I love the Key2, I mean he is right in the speakers, camera, and screen are not up to snuff with the best on the market, but they are adequate. The keyboard and shortcuts (which he didn't go into) along with excellent battery life, options on app permission offering even better security, this is the best QWERTY keyboard phone ever made.

I have been saying this for forever. I love my priv but it is getting slow now and not wanting to update some apps anymore. Just sucks. Most durable and longest lasting phone I have ever had. I gotta say I am looking to get a key 2 only because there is Not a Priv 2
tommy d u b b s Actually it's like dating your ex's sister. Some similarities, not the same but worse. Serves you right for even having thoughts about it.
tonbaliklimakarna it's not about the keyboard about a smartphone, it's the keyboard about the smartphone when no other devices has a hardware keyboard anymore. Hardware manufacturers make what people what, because they wanna sell their stuff. Depending on this Blackberry missed the train... "Again" I have to say. There are some good reasons why software keyboards supreme over hardware ones in the Smartphone market.
I just brought a Passport, it has some real limitations and I knew it would before I got it. My BB history Z10 and BB Curve. I only left BB because apps and begrudgingly got at Apple late '14. I got a Galaxy S9 because Apple beyond crazy with those prices. I don't like Android. I do like the functionality of YT Studio though and that no one can turn if off if you lost it so you can track it. However, I like the Passport more than the S9 I brought a month before. I won't buy a Key2. Passport the best BlackBerry phone that was ever built. I like the form I like the keys I like the OS10 software. But honestly I take it in the android If I could keep the black Berry hub and it's self diagnostics capabilities. Those Chinese MFG. can't cheap out though. I won't buy a substandard one.
All I can see in the comments are people and kids who have never owned a blackberry and probably dont need to own one. But for someone that writes dozens of emails a day on the go, there is nothing more satisfying than a physical keyboard. I worked in the telecom industry when the switch from flip phones to smartphones was happening. When people thought a smartphone was a waste of money. I've owned a plethora of phones from different brands and although ive had iphones and galaxies, nothing compares to typing on a physical keyboard. I can type entire emails without having to look down at the screen a single time for typos. Couldn't manage to write a single text message like that after having any galaxy or iphone for over a year. Sure the swype and on screen keyboard is great, but it has physical limitations. You can swype on the keyone keyboard as well. The tech specs are less than other phones in that price range, but that also means it would require more juice if it did have the same specs. I only charge my phone once every 2 days. I'll also assume that it costs more to manufacture and add a physical keyboard to a phone. Don't play games on it, I do that at home, I don't watch videos on it, I do that at home, I dont do social media. I just listen to music. I left the BlackBerry brand for a long time because of their OS that was completely outdated, but once they began using android and finally released a decent phone with a physical keyboard I had to give it a shot. After nearly a decade without a physical keyboard, I had to give it a shot... and I will never go back to a phone with an on-screen keyboard until a manufacturer no longer makes phones with physical keyboards. It's more than nostalgia. If you haven't used a physical keyboard in a long time (like most people) it does take almost a month or more to get used to. But once you get used it, you can type blindfolded and significantly faster than any on-screen keyboard without having to press backspace between each 2 words to correct typos. No longer do I have to stare at my screen to type. You're not only using your eyes to coordinate your fingers on a keyboard, youre also using the sense of touch and feel of the physical keyboard to type. The camera is not as great as other phones but not enough to say it's terrible. Either way, I and most ppl don't use a cellphone camera to develop pictures or take breathtaking photos... you purchase a "real" dedicated camera for pictures and videos. Anyways, time to put my flamesuit on.
darkestfenix I'm not going to flame you. I'm assuming that you wrote your comment on your BlackBerry and not your computer. It's very nice to write long comments and emails without staring at your screen. For example, I'm not staring at my screen to type either. Score one for a PKB. I also have a ridiculous amount of shortcuts on my BlackBerry from apps to speed dial to turning features on and off. Battery life is amazing on a BlackBerry. So is the antenna. I can say that I don't think that I'm going to upgrade my BlackBerry PRIV to the Key2 though. I'd miss the real estate on my screen.
Michael Duffy I actually did write my original comment and also replying to you using my KEYone. I couldn't possibly imagine writing something that long using an on-screen keyboard. You can tell when someone used an iphone or a phone with an on-screen keyboard to write emails. Lol All the autocorrects and typos.
Agreed, I have used the Blackberry Priv (the first android B.B.) and it has held up. If I really want to watch YT, NetFlix, play games, I use my new iPad.
ITNinja Girl Wasn't that supposed to be the PlayBook's original job? Still can't believe that Netflix didn't make it to the PlayBook but did make it to the PS Vita...
Same! I've been craving chicklet keyboards for nearly a decade now, the closest we got was moto mods' slideout (pricy but perhaps the direction blackberry should go to get full aspect ratio).
@@MyDude57 No it's a phone for people who dont use their phone as a toy. I'm using a note 8 and thinking of switching because I write a lot of messages and HATE and I mean ABSOLUTELY HATE this stupid keyboard. This Is a phone for serious people, not children with their ever so important emojis.
@@monkeybubba1526 No its outdated tech and is irrelevant in this day, look at how terrible BlackBerry is doing now a days. They should make a phone that competes with apple and samsung.
@@MyDude57 Blackberry is doing just fine. They have up to date specs on par with the new samsung phones. Also touchscreen keyboards are not practical tech. If I could use my pc for texting I would but I'm not always home with my pc. So the next best thing is physical keyboards. We arent stuck in 2010 cause we can't give up our beloved blackberry. We are people that use our phones for actually doing stuff instead of posting on instagram all day.
So, I got one of these for work, by choice. I'll agree that the Key2 is not a phone designed for mainstream usage - if emojis and youtube videos are a core tenet of phone utilization, then I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment. The Key2 does, however, serve a niche - and it serves it *very* well. 95% of my work day involves four things: calls, texts, e-mails, and Mattermost (a Slack clone). You say the screen is small, but compared to the visible space on an iPhone X with the virtual keyboard shown, the Key2 has a greater visible area for tasks that require text input. The battery life isn't just good, I get 2 1/2 days out of my battery between charges. Call quality is great, and its ability to keep a signal is on par with the iPhone 6 it replaced. The camera isn't spectacular, but it is more than serviceable. I needed a phone that did four things, and the Key2 does those four things better than pretty much any work phone I've had since my Note 2. It sucks at being an entertainment phone, but as a business phone, I would be disappointed to go back to an iPhone.
Thank you for leaving a much better review than the manchild juiced up on speed in the video I just watched. This is exactly what I'm looking for in a phone. If I want to play games, I have consoles and a laptop for those things.
Hi just wanna know after one year of using it does keyone lags ? cause im really interested in getting a BB phone , just that im afriad its gonna be as laggy as samsung after one or two years of using it
Same here. They added nothing new in the ad. BlackBerry's mistake is that they haven't capitalized on BBM and BlackBerry server software. They kept them platform dependent and gifted their users to open software like WhatsApp. Apparently they are still chasing mirages without thinking about their customers..
3165dwayne lol. I still rock a blackberry passport cause of the big physical keyboard, and I carry a second more normal samsung s7 active for all the other apps and stuff. But yes, all these glass typers spelling shit wrong is hilarious
I've been an BB fan for a long time till I went to a country where they weren't supported. I switched to Samsung and I can't say I ever look back. As Lou says, you are paying a premium for average hardware, this is the case for a long time though you in 2018 this simply isn't acceptable anymore. It's a pity, I would just as much like them to succeed, but somehow the execs can't get their head around and keep using dated hardware.
Tbh I never expected a good outcome of this from you, especially when you're looking for a multimedia specific device, which KeyTwo never claims to be. If you're in a market to buy a tool to do your work for full day, love thumb typing (muscle memory) and multi task, then this is a good choice. If you want snapchat etc, then you can buy any generic slab phone. Having physical keyboard means this isn't for everyone and would have less screen estate (4.5" screen isn't that small if you think of it, but we got spoilt) Anyhow, thanks for trying though. I'm currently using Note 8 but waiting for local launch of this phone in Australia.
chinmay hegde Agree. I guess if they were selling to masses, they could afford a cheaper tag. I would have pulled the trigger if it was at least $200 cheaper as well. I guess for those who need the physical keyboard, they don't have much choice. Also they could have added OIS to the camera. I know processor they chose was due to longer battery. While we are at it, I think all those Galaxies and iPhones are sold $500 above they should be sold for. Haven't seen anything groundbreaking that can justify the prices nowadays. You can get a decent laptop for that price, even MacBook if you want Apple's product.
Having not done my research, I believe the camera will likely be fixed with software updates. One of the things TCL got the most praise for with the KeyOne was using the best sensor available and took pictures nearly as good as the Pixel 2 or GS8 and it doesn't seem likely that they would take a step back there. That said, it doesn't really matter to the core of their consumer base, mediocre quick shots are good enough, for the average BB user "If I want a good picture I'll use my real camera" still holds true; the selfie camera is there merely as a formality, most customers will likely never use it and those that do will do so rarely. Small screen, so what, its plenty big enough for messaging or reading from a web page and social media, few people watch much video on their phone as long as I can in passing its fine. A lot of people say that they can type faster on a virtual keyboard, but because of accuracy reasons most people cannon, almost no one can type on a virtual keyboard and confidently send a message without looking at their phone. Speaker is tinny - I've got news for you, there is no such thing as a phone speaker that sounds good for music, but the KeyOne speaker is second only to the iPhone 7+ and 8+ for vocal clarity. So after saying all those things don't matter, here's what does. Battery life - the KeyOne and KeyTwo are the best of phones from respectable brands easily getting 2 days of moderate use. Having a SD660 instead of SD845 keeps it snappy in everything, even the games I've tried, but gets better battery life. Signal strength - there are a few dead zones near me where the KeyOne gets a weak signal where my old G6 gets none. Fit and finish - the KeyOne and KeyTwo feel solid in the hand unlike current Samsung or Apple phones, the grippy texture is reassuring, and this is the only phone on the market I don't feel the need to put a bulky case on (and a year with my KeyOne has been perfectly fine). And yes, the keyboard, if I can type with near perfect accuracy with autocorrect off and without watching the phone I'm happy, also real buttons are just satisfying.
Boosted, I'm on Apple's side here. I've used iPhones since iPhone 5 and what I'm trying to say is that everyone will still buy it because they know its good.
I get why you don't want to buy the blackberry, it doesn't come with alot of things that most people are use to having for a "smart" phone. But for me I would use this just as a work phone and nothing else. It is not the type of phone that you can have fun with like games and videos, but this thing is a work horse and I think that would be the only reason people will buy it.
@@Mason048 I do though. There has to be a place in this world for your preferences AND mine. You can't just do a zero sum game on people who have different preferences and would love a physical keyboard. I so want one, I'm fed up with an all screen thing and I have my own valid reasons for it. :)
It was fun to use but for some reason back then having a keyboard meant the phone was half as fast as phablet phones. I had a Droid 1, 2, and 3. The Glaxy S5 was the first time I used a smartphone without a keyboard and I was blown away by how much more responsive it was and how much less often it crashed.
It's not a multimedia phone. It's for people who send messages , have security and have a physical keyboard. Just wish it had a better display, a better camera and more power
You have to hit then”alt” button then the number....you mean like how on touchscreen you have to hit the “123” button first then the number lol. I bet you didn’t even use it for a day.
Ever since the iPhone, many of us gave up physical keyboards for bigger screens. Virtual keyboards will never be as accurate as physical ones. They need help from auto correct, which gets all kinds of things wrong. Laptop and desktop computers still use physical keyboards! Yes the cameras and screen aren't too great, but the keyboard is one of the best BlackBerry has produced. The phone is really just for people who still want physical keyboards. For those people, they should try it out.
You do know that he doesn't buy the phones but the companies send him so he can make a review.. The first he says it's not bad and he will be using it for some weeks or months and then he makes another video to tell you what he thinks
officer Sweetchuck TCL knows they can't sell enough of the phones to be able to purchase high end components like that without pricing the phone into the stratosphere. They simply don't have the economies of scale.
jpusar faster processors aren't just for games it's also for faster computing power to do thngs that have to do with business. The blackberry priv was a awesome phone hampered by a mid tier processesor
Yeah sure, i need a fast smartphone for "Business" Dude, don't know what Business u do, but i clearly give a shit about "high performance" power drawing features, i better like having a longer time away from reloading
Good video. I don't usually like silly videos but you hit the formula just right, plus you've got the charm factor to pull it off. I LOL at your punchline. I like the tricky editing...very nice on that! J cut right????? You are an artiste.
Why so much drama ???? Make your videos bit subtle... Other reviewers also give reviews, but with lower voice. U r as if blackberry has done some kind of crime.
blackberry is made for the phone for entrepreneurs and for business executive and security is it's prior purpose Understand its sole purpose then use it ;/
Killacamfoo O.G. a business deviced priced too high with mid-range internals. The OnePlus 6 is cheaper and has top tier specs and awesome software experience & great camera (not the best but definitely not bad). The security feature is the only compelling reason although I can't say for sure what they did and if it's that secure/unique to (again) justify that price. Dunno, just my opinion...
There are much better and cheaper phones if you just wanna use it for email and text. Heck, my laptop was broken last year when i need to prepare a slide presentation on Ms Powerpoint. Guess what? I was running out of time, already got home and too tired to drive back to office - So I did it on my Iphone 6s Plus with the built in ‘Apple KeyNote’ App. Super easy with beautiful templates. Now, that you call using phone for business. Can Blackberry do that? Especially in a very easy way like Iphone or Android phones do? I doubt it.
I've had mine for 3 years now and it is one of the best phones I have ever had. The only downside is the camera, but we all know you don't buy a Blackberry for that. Battery still lasts a day. Response rate is amazing still. Price wise is cheaper than the majority of Android phones out there. Best feature - physical keyboard.
blackberry should not make the same mistakes like NOKIA did the phone companies need to evolve and get rid of the outdated features like the keyboard its should made a phone with bezels screens
To date, one of the best phones I've owned was the Blackberry Z10. The User Experience was brilliant. Unfortunately, processing power wasn't the best. I miss the shortcuts by dragging, and send images. The Samsung or iPhone just doesn't have it that way. Owning both iPhone and Xiaomi now. And I like my Xiaomi over the iPhone.
I don't get it, you are reviewing for a product but seems like you're mad. That's why BlackBerry is there for physical keyboard in a phone because no one can compete. Physical keyboards can do shortcuts to apps while screen keyboard cannot do shortcuts and keep swiping. Desktop computers and laptop have a physical keyboard, and nobody complaining and asking for a touch keyboard.
@@Rich_iam you use 2 fingers on a small screen while computers have BIG screen, so u cant just use your fingers ! Also gaming or typing on PC , you need a keyboard else ..trust me it would be hard ! (idk why but after 2 months I thought I needed to edit this comment)
Blackberry Classic user here still, only reason I don't upgrade is I can't stand android. -.- Wish they offered a a BB10 version. As for app support I dont give a shit we are being conditioned to need more when everything we already have is enough. I don't need snapchat to talk to people I can call or text. Good bye
Juvibro99 as much as I liked BB10 as an OS, even I can admit it's dead. You should give a BlackBerry Android device a try, you'll be surprised at how much of a BlackBerry touch is embedded into their luncher and other software. Then you also get access to everything with Google Services.
on same boat with Q10, and with snap im ok with the random android apps I need. Its only now with android P and iX where they are catching up to BB10 lol low usershare when it came out, was too late to help bring BBRY up.

Befit Halo Probably shouldnt have made your message sound so directed at Lew then lol, cant really tell nowadays since youtube has so many stupid people just assuming everything.
Yet another review focussing on the wrong thing... You don't buy a blackberry for the camera or video, although to be fair, they are not that bad. You buy a blackberry for the productivity software: the launcher, the hub are nice, the productivity tab is nice, the calendar is nice, the aggregation of content from numerous accounts is superbly done. The keyboard is also a nice thing. Blackberry will automatically switch to number entering mode in fields that expect number entry, and there are shortcuts for a lot of things, including programmable one key speed functions and predictive typing. Basically it is full of features, but I'll give you that, reading the user manual might be a bit too uncool for some. So your review is biased towards entertainment, really a shame considering you mentioned some of the productivity features in the first video where you announced you would be switching completely to the KEY2 for your test.
Been using it for the past year and I can safely say that this is the best phone I've ever used. All the samsung/Iphones I ever used suck and always had issues. I fell in love with this

I strongly suggest you to buy it, workvery well
I went from a Samsung reality to a blackberry key 2 in 2019, qwerty keyboard warrior here and I'm so happy with this phone :P

Bought it and love it. It really depends on what you like, and if a physical keyboard is what you want (and a headphone jack), it's awesome!
I'm currently rocking the Priv. I love the keyboard, but i also love that it's a slider. Instead of a Key2, I NEED a Priv 2
I am also rocking a priv, which is showing its age: it's becoming a bit slow, and its battery is becoming pathetic. I also would like a priv2 for 2019
I have been saying this for forever. I love my priv but it is getting slow now and not wanting to update some apps anymore. Just sucks. Most durable and longest lasting phone I have ever had. I gotta say I am looking to get a key 2 only because there is Not a Priv 2
@@cosmiccare9708 yeah. Same thing here. Great phone, physically speaking. I wonder how the newer Blackberry sliders compare

Just because you don't like keyboards on mobile phones it doesn't mean everyone does tho.
Why I hate reviewers. Just present the specs and features and let the people make the choice whether to by or now.
''let the people make the choice whether to buy or not'' they still can, they don't HAVE to listen.
M. Harrison That wouldn’t be a review. That would be a regurgitation of the owner’s manual, which by the way is only one google search away.

tonbaliklimakarna it's not about the keyboard about a smartphone, it's the keyboard about the smartphone when no other devices has a hardware keyboard anymore.

I GOT IT DUDE I WAS SHOCKED
Michael Duffy, yes. Very true.
This phone can be a good option for some people, only if it wouldn't cost that much. For 600$ it's just overpriced af for anyone.

Same! I've been craving chicklet keyboards for nearly a decade now, the closest we got was moto mods' slideout (pricy but perhaps the direction blackberry should go to get full aspect ratio).

Average hardware does not bother me. Not having a decent keyboard is annoying on an hourly basis.
I got mine on release date, I agree with Lou that the number pad is super annoying. Otherwise I'm decently pleased with my purchase.
wow cannot quickly find an emoji? DO NOT BUY
Having physical keyboard means this isn't for everyone and would have less screen estate (4.5" screen isn't that small if you think of it, but we got spoilt)
Anyhow, thanks for trying though. I'm currently using Note 8 but waiting for local launch of this phone in Australia.
It's a freaking Android phone. Anything this phone does that isn't connected to any specific hardware can be done with any Android phone.
Fawad Bilgrami subscribe me
Micke Friberg I think there's security and touch sensitive keyboard with shortcuts. It's really hard to explain to someone who hasn't used it.
chinmay hegde Agree.
No you dummy. Muscle memory still exists on a ON SCREEN KEYBOARD because it's qwerty dummy.
Thanks for a great video Lew!
And yes, the keyboard, if I can type with near perfect accuracy with autocorrect off and without watching the phone I'm happy, also real buttons are just satisfying.
im using the keyone and i want more phones with keyboards again
Can i have it..im really into Blackberry
After 2 or 3 Months

I get why you don't want to buy the blackberry, it doesn't come with alot of things that most people are use to having for a "smart" phone. But for me I would use this just as a work phone and nothing else. It is not the type of phone that you can have fun with like games and videos, but this thing is a work horse and I think that would be the only reason people will buy it.

This is a BUSINESS device for email and text. That's it. Most people who get one of these have their company (or government entity) pay for it.
The government switched to IPhones a long time ago
There are much better and cheaper phones if you just wanna use it for email and text. Heck, my laptop was broken last year when i need to prepare a slide presentation on Ms Powerpoint. Guess what? I was running out of time, already got home and too tired to drive back to office - So I did it on my Iphone 6s Plus with the built in ‘Apple KeyNote’ App. Super easy with beautiful templates. Now, that you call using phone for business. Can Blackberry do that? Especially in a very easy way like Iphone or Android phones do? I doubt it.

Its only now with android P and iX where they are catching up to BB10 lol
low usershare when it came out, was too late to help bring BBRY up.
Juvibro99 I've been using the keyone for over a year. I miss BB10 too, but Droid is more convenient
keyone is a downgrade to passport se.. idk why android don't work as smooth and fluid like bb10...
I wish the key2 was running BB os.. that would be perfect for me. I'm still rocking the passport SE
I had a blackberry keyone (with 4g of ram and Oreo) and it was an amazing phone! The camera takes beautiful pictures too.
still using mine since 2017 . all of sudden it has become precioso
600??
If you have that money just go an buy an S8, the price has dropped and they are still amazing phones.
Befit Halo Lol you think he doesnt have that already? He's made milions of dolars from UA-cam, He's a tech unboxer man its his job, telling people whether or not all these cool new devices are worth it or not. He can buy an S8 anyday he wanted to, infact he even used one before until swapping it out with the s9 and other phones for experimental purposes like this.
Um, yeah, I know
I'm just saying, if somebody has the money and are looking for a good phone, get the S8
Mythical /whooosh
Befit Halo Probably shouldnt have made your message sound so directed at Lew then lol, cant really tell nowadays since youtube has so many stupid people just assuming everything.
You must be the stupid one "mythic"
I love my BlackBerry. In my opinion is the best android phone for work if you work in a business setting.
I have the keytwo and it's awesome ... I love the keyboard will never give it up. It's run on android and it's amazing
This means..
Switching back to Galaxy S9+ part 2 video in the making 😂😂
word dawg lets all eat lots of food now
Yet another review focussing on the wrong thing... So your review is biased towards entertainment, really a shame considering you mentioned some of the productivity features in the first video where you announced you would be switching completely to the KEY2 for your test.
all of the things you said also exist on other more better phones.
@@rp5162 please, explain which
And that is what he completely refused to see and understand before rushing into creating this biased video. And he failed with his review...
@@rp5162 No, they don't.
Been using it for the past year and I can safely say that this is the best phone I've ever used. All the samsung/Iphones I ever used suck and always had issues. I fell in love with this
Easy lou... Damn man...
