Back when the Blackberry Playbook had just been released, I immediately bought it, it was so smooth to play games like Machinarium and Samurai II: Vengeance. But I accidentally dropped it, and it broke. I miss that tablet so much :( It was my first Blackberry device tho.
Yes Sam thanks for reminding me, the Very Serious Corporate Types all sported Blackberry. Security of messaging was the important thing. They were the last holdouts when Apple iNvaded the sector. Ended up with a couple of shoeboxes full of BBys. I think your grading was spot on. [not sure, but has anyone commented you look like a better dressed young Sir Les Patterson? Are you related?]
My first phone was the Blackberry 8310 back when I was a sophomore in high school in 07 when everyone else had a Razr. Took many pictures and videos using it. My last BB was the Priv and it was honestly my favorite. I still have these phones and they work-ish.
If a new company came along and had an integral physical keyboard for portable devices, they could replace BlackBerry in a niche market that really wants such a product. My thoughts, clam shell design where the screen rotates back to cover the keyboard so you can use it as a regular phone, if you want, or just keep the keyboard out to type something. I keep hoping that someone will duplicate that old design that I think I first saw 25-ish years ago. I think it might have been a Sony Vaio, and I see they've got more recent versions named Flip, but I know I've seen it in a phone too. And if they either had a custom OS or at least used a proper Linux, I would buy it.
I had a few Blackberrys before switching to Android in 2011. I loved the Curve and later on the Classic. The Touchscreen Storm was below the fail rating. It pushed me into Android. At one point I went back to a Q20 for the dumb downed smart phone but it was pretty slow after owning a number of flag ship android phones. Never made it to the passport or the Key line but they looked good
Passport is definitely S tier for me. Best phone I ever had. The Classic was too slow and the screen too small to enjoy, goes into C (for Classic) tier. I loved the K2 LE and I still miss it to this day, A tier for me. In fact I preferred it over the regular K2 which goes into B tier. The Z30 goes into B tier as well. Overall pretty good form factor for BB10 but the screen was too dark. Leap goes into A tier for me, another one of my favourites. Just felt so great in the hand and a really nice screen with nearly as good performance as the Z30.
Also was a BlackBerry user. Had Q10,Z10, Passport and some similar to Q10 but even smaller ( and thinner ) . Enjoyed most of them the Passport . It had decent performance , battery and even camera was not bad ( for hhe times ) . I gave up on passport once started to need more apps for work and not all would work or work well enough, I did love the messaging center ( however it was called ) . The backberry was cool at first too once they made the BackBerry bridge work when you could do your email and messages out of the Tablet.
I think it's a bit sad that Sam never had the joy of using some of the earlier Blackberry phones with the side scroll thumb wheel. My Blackberry history was quite long, I was a early adopter and held on till almost the end. A BB tragic. I had the 7730 (one of the early colour models running OS 3) as my first BB, then 8700G (first with Bluetooth), Bold 9000 (first 3G BB), Torch 9800, Z10 & Priv. Also had a Playbook tablet. BB10 with the Hub is still my favourite mobile OS. Was such a great OS and a real shame that it never got any traction because it was way too late to market. Now use a iPhone because I had such a love hate relationship with the Priv. Loved that it ran BB apps like the Hub, hated that it had a whole bunch of Android baggage like slow AF OS major updates or security patches or where did that file go that the app downloaded (not even Android knows). Got my iPhone to where it's good enough now but still not as good as the hub for managing all the messaging & PIM.
I love your BlackBerry content, I want a new phone with keyboard with a good camera and top tier cpu. Omg I miss BlackBerry soo much :( Something like a Passport would be awesome.
Only had four devices and used to proudly carry a BlackBerry even more so as a Canadian. Eventually switched to Samsung Galaxy back in 2012 and haven't looked back. How I rank the devices: Bold 9700 Pearl 8130 PlayBook Bold 9900 (Very distant fourth and ultimately switched me over to Samsung)
Hi, I'm thinking of buying a BlackBerry Key2, but I'm not sure if I should get it. I like dumb phones and phones that fit in my hand so a phone meant for messaging seems cool. Do you think it's a good option for me?
Australia needs more Canadian BlackBerry technology again. Perhaps a simple satellite phone again with a well thought out button. Also other winning formulas or utilized today.
I've always enjoyed your content, Sam. I think you've got a great sense of humour and a really good "stage presence" for lack of a better word. The shadowban sucks, but I still love your videos and I will continue to watch them regardless. Stay Funky.
I personally like about your ranking ✨ Anyway Blackberry priv is the second of my favorite bbs..& Favorite one is Classic ♥️ and I'm still using it as my secondary device to only take normal phone calls and to send normal text messages.
Damn. Seeing your such a blackberry enthusiest its a shame you never got to try the full fledged key 2. Best phone they ever made imo, ive had curve, bold, classic, Key 1, and now this key 2 im still using. It would still have the software components you dislike in the key1 but looks pretty bad ass, and is easily the most durable phone i have ever had in addition to the most resilient battery. I typed this long ass message out to you in no time with minimal back tracking kudos to the quality keyboard 😏
My first black berry was the 8900. then came the 9300. then I got a bold [cant remember witch bold) but i loved them. and i miss the black berry ecosystem
Can you do smartphone brand tier list, or tier list of ALL samsung phones would could quite cool as they have made many cool concepts and designs like the camera phone and "mega phone" that really took smartphones markets ahead, thanks!
Instead of buying BB phones people should look into BB stocks that are at 20 year lows and many hedge funds seem to be getting in. I feel there is an accumulation going on because their price to sales ratio is just at 2.07 now. Which is extremely cheap. The reason the stocks dipped so low is because BB decided to raise 194million in cash to pay for maturing notes with fresh notes at 3% interest. BB seems to be big into Software Defined Vehicles with their Blackberry IVY, Blackberry Sound and QNX software and Hypervisor. AWS seems to be a major partner on the QNX. At 1.67billion market cap it is only a matter of time before someone buys them outright.
I think back to 2009 when I bought my 1st Blackberry. It's not the 1st one I used. The BB Storm was my 1st taste. It was cool. It was too slow for the software it had. But I enjoyed my 1stvtaste of installing apps and themes and being able to really customize a phone UI. I didn't get the Sequel and after that I started getting Android devices starting with the HTC Droid Incredible. I miss RIM as they were called then, Research In Motion. I was tempted to switch to ATT to get the one model you showed that slides up. I loved using the real mouse thingie. I think th3 Palm OS devices were somewhat better and some Windows Mobile devices were better too.
I have a original BB priv, bought it myself, *the first android meets BB* phone ever, the key 1’s predecessor. Its a full touch phone with a slider up keyboard. Its buggy and way overheats to easy. The small but physical keyboard is nice. But its completely unusable due to random crashes and crap operating with no more updates. I’d go for a key 2 but there not in production and i’ve seen them starting at 900.00 through 3,000.00 depending on where and who from you buy it. Also its what??? 5 years now old and future updates are in question makes it not worth it.
No 8310 Curve? You did not experience the REAL classic Blackberry. I had it for 5 years in pre Android era. Legendary phone, featured in dozens if not hundreds of movies.
So which phone u use currently I'm still blackberry fan even though i had to stop using blackberry cuz they left support of apps. And i had to switch over to Android so i can use apps. Now all i can do with my bb z10s is call
Sam makes living out of unpaid partnerships with bankrupt companies. Pure magic.
Sam has genuinely done more advertising for Blackberry than Blackberry ever did for themselves.
That’s because he bought the rights for the name, and is relaunch the brand just before Christmas. 😉
They were like what apple is today. A status symbol. Their bbm was like iMessage. They prolly became overconfident
In fact, I'm now convinced. Should there ever be a new Blackberrym I will try it. 😆
@@AyushGupta-wn6zdit was the lack of proper App Store and horrendous 3rd party developer experience
Sam made me start using my old q20 again 😂❤
BlackBerry Classic is a wonderful phone for me, if they had support today I would buy it right away no matter how much it costs
loved the Passport. A unique form factor and it was drawing attention.
Yes. I have the Blackberry SE and loved the phone and esp BB10 was the best. Still to this day I feel and after Blackberry I went Android
Have you seen the new "Blackberry" movie? If not, you must!!
2J??
I watched and I enjoyed as well

My First blackberry was the curve 8900 and I enjoy using it and instantly my favorite phone back then. Hopefully, blackberry will make a come back.
The brand is sold to a company that is just suing everyone they can find. It’s never coming back.
I don't know what it is, but Sam comes across as someone I would genuinely trust and I respect that.

Comment for the algorithm! You’re amazing Sam!
At this point, Sam Tucker has convinced me to wait for the blackberry with a Full sized keyboard.
Corporate Sam with suit&tie is the best!👍👍😁

If Sam was CEO of blackberry they would’ve survived.
Still using my key2 .. BB fan since 2008 and eager to see 1 again ...
when an australian dude does more advertising than a multi million company:
It's funny how we can count the chins on the previous video clips to kind of tell the age of the phones... kind of like a tree with rings.

I had the launch Z10 for T-Mobile and used it to the very end. I wish they had just unlocked the boot loader for Android ROMs for the sake of it.
Passport GOAT of phones. I have 1 in each color : black, silver, white, and red. They're my MP3 players / notepads / alarm clocks.
