I'm one of the engineers of the Key2 and it was such a time with our team, we all knew it was the last Blackberry that would ever be produced so we all put our hearts into it. His comments are fair about the camera. The inside scoop is we couldn't get the the ISPs (image signal processors) we wanted and the deadline for production was fiercely stringent so we had to get a lower quality ISP. It was the only one available for mass production. That was such a shame. In the end none of us were proud of the whole product, we liked everything except the camera.
It is nice to read the background of the Key 2 from ‘one of the engineers.’ Yes, the camera ‘sucks.’ My work-around is I downloaded a pro-camera app and installed it on my Key2. It works wonderfully.
Hey .. Thanks for comment. I am sending this msg by my blackberry keyone limited edition. I want to know that as of now what is the future of BlackBerry mobile???
Recently went from iphone 13 Mini to blackberry Key2 again. Even if it is outdated ; it still works. Even blackberry hub is fully functional. I love it!
I have the Priv but only works in calls and text no data. Some strange because supposedly is unlocked. About the WhatsApp the actual version don't work.
My wife and I still use our Blackberry Key2's while wintering in Mexico. I've always hated touch screens because they don't respond well to my old calloused fingers. I've always loved the tactical feedback of the Blackberry keypad and sorry to see it go. I owned a cell phone store for 25 years so I've used a lot of different phones in my time. I've always loved Blackberry's Function before Fashion design.
I use blackberry priv till date and it works perfectly fine ! The built is quiet durable and robust ! It's good for social media/multimedia purpose , not for gaming and multitasking ! I wish blackberry could ve continued making the smartphones !

Along with Tech Odyssey, your channel is one of my favorites that is BlackBerry centric. Im writing this comment on my BlackBerry Key2LE. I have a Google Pixel 7 and really enjoy it, but when it comes to typing up a message - BlackBerry is the way to go for me. I know that BlackBerry is focusing on tech for automobiles now but I hope they make another phone. There sold off some patents recently so there is hope that another device will use this tech.
I still use Key2 as my everyday carry. It is unmatched for email, and the BlackBerry Hub still works perfectly. Perhaps your provider does not support it. Now, I don't play games and rarely take photos, so those are not important to me. I do use social media, and have not encountered any problems with the Key2. Granted, the software is Android 8.1, which can be obsolete with some apps, but the Key2 still meets my requirements.
Nice. I am still using my BlackBerry Passport in the US. Of course, no BlackBerry server but SIM calling/text works. Gmail still works. My battery life on the Passport is still ok. But once it dies, I might actually take out my Key2 to replace it.
Just rebuilt mine... I love it! Not a social media or camera person, despite being photogenic ;) lols... the rebuilding was a pet project I enjoyed... also, there are ways around adding accounts to the hub.. It still is doable.
I have a Key One and love it but my keyboard stopped working after the phone fell in my kitchen sink. I dried it in rice and the only thing that doesn't work now is the keyboard and the sensor. Do you have tips for repairing the keyboard?
I love the key2 also, but honestly my wildest dream is that if RIM resurrected again the Bold 9900 with nearly the same size & shape (including the screen size) + BBM, + modern decent camera (no need superb one), and so on.. I'd be very happy to use it as my main phone (as I only need it for phone, texting, email, messenger, slight video call, a bit of socmed - which is still okay with that small screen), it will do nearly cover 85% of what I need from a smartphone.. and the rest 15% I'll do it on my modern android phone (gaming, watching video, and better photography).. Even if it would be priced nearly the same as latest iphone pro models, I'll still be willing to buy it! *Just a wish.. impossible one, I know!
Yeah, i am still hanging onto my Q10. And i did never give up on BB10 ever since i used to watch videos of some rare youtubers like you who made videos of BB devices. Been following your videos since you were a child.
Using an IPhone 15 Pro, and thinking of going back to my Key 2. The display on my Key 2 was lovely and gave NO motion sickness. iPhone 15 pro I feel sickness.
Blackberry would do well to do a Limited Edition drop of a new device with all modern specs, even if it's a solid grand to guarantee 5 years of updates.
Please blackberry enterprise don't shutdown! I promise when my sign a huge football career contract, I make sure him and his friends invest their money to you so that we can innovate the brand and get back our tech world. It's possible. Ole, I also used my old Blackberry for a week. I was shocked my old Passport still worked. Like many Blackberry users, I received a notice late in 2021 stating that after January 4, 2022 my device" will no longer reliably function, including for data, phone calls, SMS and 9-1-1 functionality." As a replacement, I bought a Uniherts Titan - an Andriod 10 phone with a keyboard, much like a Passport. When it needed repairs, rather than be without a phone, I decided to run a test. I put my SIM card back in the Passport, and in spite of what Blackberry said about it no longer functioning, I had reliable use of the phone, emails and texts. But, like the Key2 the lack of apps is a noticable drawback.. I'm wondering if other Blackberry users have also found that these old BB 10 devices still work on their carrier's systems.
Your last video inspired me to do a similar experiment and since my last Keyone is long gone, I bought a used Keyone Black edition just for 60€. It has some small scratches on the black aluminium parts, but everything else works perfectly. I have been using Google Pixel 3 since my departure from BB phones. First bit of a shock was, that you can't transfer your data from newer android to old one, so I had to do it all manually. Another one was how android 8 looks basic compared to 12 in the Pixel. The camera is obviously also a downgrade, but not as big as I tought, since KeyOne uses camera from the first Pixel which was regarded as having a great camera at that time. You can also sense a bit of a lag from time to time and some apps seem to be loading a bit longer... But man how I missed the keyboard 😲 I am loving it more and more, the slickness, the shortcuts, the fingerprint scanner on the space bar (you do not have to pick the phone to open it and have a guick check, you just put a finger on the spacebar), scrolling function when reading a long article... The LED , how great thing to have and have it personalized, for all the different messaging apps... The 3,5mm jack, I can use my favourite headphones and have the phone still on charger... And the design, I just love how different it looks and how great it feels in the hands. Conclusion? I am staying with the KeyOne :) it just suits my needs much better and I'm gonna hold on to it until the apps I use are still available for Android 8🤗 PS: The BB Hub works flawlessly (had it installed also on my Google Pixel) PS2: I have an iPhone SE 2020 as a company phone and I absolutely dispare that thing.
Same here! I miss mine! Had to switch to a Galaxy FE. If Blackberry made another phone that could do 5G when it needed to, I'd switch back in a heartbeat

I'm a cyclist and carrying such big phones on your back for 3-6 hours is annoying. When my KeyTwo dies I'll probably take Unihertz Jelly Two, the smallest Google Pixel available or a minimal/dumb phone. Every phone feels the same and I never liked Android and iOS. Sadly the phone for me doesn't exist. I loved my Z10 🤤
Does tue kindle app work I'm looking for a blackberry to read. The keabord and the screen and the navigation was perfect on kindle blackberry even faster than pc and cute.
I have it already 4 years and I would like to say that it's one of the best phones what I have. The best feature is that kids don't use these phones because it's a business phone
I am the blackberry user since more than ten years, last one Blackberry motion, till Dec-22. actually my BB motion was not working since dec-22, tried to repair but failed. again thinking to purchase new BB motion.
I have all of the BlackBerry Android devices. Though I do have a Pixel 6 Pro for all the things my BlackBerry Key2 does not do, my Key2 does a lot! all of my apps still work and get updates. I wish BlackBerry did not let it go on software. It is still a great basic+ device by today's standards. Photos on my North American model are great though my Pixel 6 Pro really shows the age of the Key2 in comparison. I did not have the choppiness that Jan had in doing video and I had full HD Video capability as well. I think if the Key2 got a couple of updates, it would be on par with some of the best budget phones on today's market. In fact, a new BlackBerry device can keep most of the Key2's best features and add the SD 775 Chipset with a 5,000mAh battery, a 5-inch screen, and updated camera set and it would be the best utility phone on the market today and still be reasonably priced. But this is my opinion.
Hi Jan Ole. I did enjoy your video. I live in Winnipeg Canada and still use the Key 2 as my go-to phone. I love the keyboard. To address some of the issues that you raise, please allow me to describe my approach. I use my phone to text and talk. I don’t go to social media. I removed all of the apps that I do not use. This way, at the end of the day, my battery is still 25%. I use a virus protection app. I also use a pro camera app. Both work well. Like you, I have an iPhone, the SE model. It works perfectly. I don’t. I have never gotten used to typing on glass. Too many typos. I very seldon have problem typeing on the Key2 keyboard. Although my battery is the original (over 5 years) and still very functional, I am shopping for a replacement. This is a real challenge. I still enjoy being a Blackberry guy!
My Key2 started draining battery 3 to 4 times a day. After looking for the closest alternative i found the Motorola Razr 5G 2022 last month. After transferring all the content, it even transferred the BlackBerry Hub (!) and it works great. It is strange it is not working on your device. 🤔 Even BBME was transferred and it works flawless. I had no problems with the photo quality for social media on the Key2. True, sometimes not nice in bad light conditions, but overall acceptable. The powerkey is also the fingerprint sensor and... it can also be used like the convenience key on the Key2 to access multiple favorit apps (on the Key2 only 1 app). So, I miss my BlackBerry Key2, but the Motorola Razr is a perfect alternative. As many others, I hope some company is making the next BlackBerry.
Yeah, mine started draining battery the same as yours about 2 years ago. It got way too painful to use on the daily. I'm considering popping it open and replacing the battery.
Sounds great that you can transfer BlackBerry Hub to a new phone 🎉 Does your new phone have a physical keyboard? That's a dealbreaker for me as I often use my phone for emailing. Btw I can access 3 apps from my convinience key on my BB Key2
@@BIR71 my Motorola Razr doesn't have a pkb, but the touchscreen keyboard works pretty well. Now I have 6 apps on the convenience key. I can add more.: Calculator, Tidal, Spotify, shop, contacts and password keeper.
You can get a replacement battery, installed by a good tech. The phone would no longer be waterproof. I recently had a new battery installed in my BB Motion. Works great.
I'm still using BlackBerry Key2 since 2018 till now daily its my basic device with me and BlackBerry hub its working well with my key2 ❤ ,, I know that there are some few apps that no longer work on Android 8 software, but most of the rest of the app work well, but there is no other devices with high specifications that supports a physical keyboard to switch to it .
@@kindondogame7121 when I wiped my Key2 I can't connect with BlackBerry Hub and BBM But I downloaded it from ( Aptoide store ) and working well with me now 😉
I have a bit of a collection. Two Bolds one that I’m locked out of one that works but only does text & phone calls, plus two BB10 phones. Both BB10s are fully functional still: Browsers, Weather, UA-cam, emails (3 accounts on the Hub including Yahoo) texting & good quality phone calling. Now I’ll need to add a Key2 to the group. Curious whether the Hub will work or not.
Used the hell out of blackberry keyone. Loved. Passed it down to my daughter and used it till it fell apart. Would love a keytwo but fee like i will miss things with my fullscreen phone.
Hi, I love my Blackberry, I have had a KEYone since BlackBerry KeyOne was first released in 2017 and I've been using it non stop since them and it works very well. Talking about the apps and their functionality just the Omron app stopped working because there is no support anymore, everything else works fine, not perfectly (and is so sad...). The phone gets hot if I use it for long periods of time and it can just freeze... at any time, even if I am waiting for an Uber and, can be frustrating but is random... 90% of the time works fine, and I repeat it I really really love it. I am afraid for the day it is going to stop working... I don´t know what phone I am going to use...
I love my Key 2 but my phone usage is very basic (few social media apps, basic camera use etc). My main complaint with my Key 2 is the keyboard isn't as responsive as it could be. I've been told some pressurized air helps, but still. My Hub still works fine too!
I still use blackberry storm 2....and have latest Android phone. But always keep wallpaper of BlackBerry and tones. Also use bb launcher. I can not forget BlackBerry.
Blackberry Mobile is fantastic. Literally, I don't understand why they've stopped. Why can't Blackberry conduct business if unpopular mobile brands can? Blackberry has a distinctive style and a sizable fan base, so what's the issue? The king of the mobile brand is Blackberry. If the market declines, we must try to overcome it and not close. If they give Better battery life, a camera, and a processor surely the market will undoubtedly grow. Please think about 😢😢😢😢 or someone reply what is the problem..
Hi Ola! Its very nice to see you again on BlackBerry topic. Well i couldn't be more honest then this..... Thanks to your passion i approached BlackBerry which became my very favorite mobile phone between the passport and the key2 i have the best tools for work and fun! ❤ thank you really for all of this! But i cannot hear From you " get and iPhone" 😢
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN BUDDY??!! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEEEEEN. WE MISSED PEOPLE LIKE YOU LOVE THE ORIGINAL STUFFS AS A BLACKBERRY PHONE, SHARING THE SAME TASTE. GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK. NOW YOU BECAME A MAN, A REAL ONE HAHA.
I had BlackBerry phones for years. My last BlackBerry was a Key2. Sadly, it wasn't possible to update the version of Android in the phone, so my banking app stopped working when the bank updated its security levels. Several other apps wouldn't work. If I could have updated the version of Android I would still be using it.
There are companies producing devices designed to minimize the destructions such as ReMarkable, Kronaby and The Minimal. I was wondering if we could leave our modern smartphones for sometime. During this time, we could use a Kindle to read e-books along with an old Blackberry with a keyboard to type the e-books journals. The limitations of these devices give us more time to focus on our priorities. Nowadays, social media is eating almost all the time not leaving much time for us to do something productive.
@Jan Ole Helmbold I just got a brand new Key2 and I got the Hub to work on it. There is actually nothing I do on it or any apps I use on it that don't still work.
@JanOleHelmbold Thank you for the video! I am inspired to use Key2 again as my daily only use phone for basics no gaming or anything. What are your thoughts about using it daily with security? like email hacking issues or using banking or credit card apps?
I had to upgrade so i use the Google Pixel 6 Pro. Still have the bb software installed and it is getting updates to stay up to date. I love the hub and it works really well.
I still use BB key2 as my only phone. BB Hub works perfectly on my BB (provider is Oister, Denmark). It's one of my favorite features apart from the physical keyboard. Only app that doesn't work is my banking app that recently stopped working bcs it demanded android 9 but I'll rather do without the app than without the BB. I'll probably stick with BB until it dies completely on me. PS Battery performance still better than most iphones
A good and fair video. I think you can still use the key2 for most things. But I like the design of the Passport more. On my channel I show what else is possible with it, but only for fun. My daily smartphone is a Huawei P60 pro
Maybe not the specs etc. but this phone came out in '19 or which ever year. And easily, at least the screen size should have come out in 2015. That was Blackberry's constant set back. They were behind delayed in form factors of their phones. It would've kept them afloat.
Thanks Ole for the update and testing the phone out. shame it did not pan out but hey ho.....looking forward to your next video. maybe comapiring and android phone i.e. a pixel phone with an Iphone?

In fact, a new BlackBerry device can keep most of the Key2's best features and add the SD 775 Chipset with a 5,000mAh battery, a 5-inch screen, and updated camera set and it would be the best utility phone on the market today and still be reasonably priced. But this is my opinion.
Absolutely agree with you! It really is a shame they don’t produce a new phone in the near future. It definitely had great potential!
@JanOleHelmbold where can I get a blackberry classic from, I just really love the feel of the phone and would use it for calls and text
Good to have you back. Hows your rolex? Greetings from malaysia.
Still using my Key2! The only downside is my battery drains fast.
I had a blackberry bold for years loved that phone. Really want another BB and give my iPhone back!
Let’s unite 😊 I am also a Key two user and recently updated to iPhone 15 pro! I am not enjoying it and want to go back to Key 2.
we need a trusted seller to buy from. it is just the perfect phone I have been looking for!
Blackberry is like APPLE NOW, I love it. I hope Blackberry releases again. No problem just 1 Product.
My Key2 started draining battery 3 to 4 times a day. After looking for the closest alternative i found the Motorola Razr 5G 2022 last month. After transferring all the content, it even transferred the BlackBerry Hub (!) and it works great. It is strange it is not working on your device. 🤔
Even BBME was transferred and it works flawless.
Sounds great that you can transfer BlackBerry Hub to a new phone 🎉
Does your new phone have a physical keyboard?
That's a dealbreaker for me as I often use my phone for emailing.
Btw I can access 3 apps from my convinience key on my BB Key2
@@BIR71 my Motorola Razr doesn't have a pkb, but the touchscreen keyboard works pretty well. Now I have 6 apps on the convenience key. I can add more.: Calculator, Tidal, Spotify, shop, contacts and password keeper.
You can get a replacement battery, installed by a good tech. The phone would no longer be waterproof. I recently had a new battery installed in my BB Motion. Works great.
yes! i use it!! i replaced the battery myself but i wish it had os updates
best phone i've ever had
I'm still using BlackBerry Key2 since 2018 till now daily its my basic device with me and BlackBerry hub its working well with my key2 ❤ ,, I know that there are some few apps that no longer work on Android 8 software, but most of the rest of the app work well, but there is no other devices with high specifications that supports a physical keyboard to switch to it .
I cant connect my hub😢
@@kindondogame7121 when I wiped my Key2 I can't connect with BlackBerry Hub and BBM
But I downloaded it from ( Aptoide store ) and working well with me now 😉
I'm still on iPhone and won't turn back to Blackberry... Thanks for sharing your current experience.
Ohh nice to see you after many years.....
I had a blackberry classic and want another one right now i really dont use soicial media apps i would really use it for call and text.
I love the physical keyboards but now I’m too used to swipe. My thumb has gotten lazy and doesn’t want to lift up down to type.
you can actually swipe with this physical keyboard 😁 and also swipe up on the physical keyboard to accept a suggestion!
Just fired up my Key2 LE!
Nice to see you after a longtime
I have a bit of a collection. Two Bolds one that I’m locked out of one that works but only does text & phone calls, plus two BB10 phones. Both BB10s are fully functional still: Browsers, Weather, UA-cam, emails (3 accounts on the Hub including Yahoo) texting & good quality phone calling. Now I’ll need to add a Key2 to the group. Curious whether the Hub will work or not.
Which network did you have service on?
@@t.terrell7037 Rogers mobile network. Bell for Wi-Fi
@@t.terrell7037 Using mostly on Wi-Fi but Rogers for mobile connection
my HUB works on my KEY2 in Canada I use the KEY2 as my second phone to send email , podcasts youtube and other basic stuff
Nice review man. Thank you for igniting my passion for BlackBerry. Might buy a key 2 soon.
Nice to see you again
I remember the q10 had the same issue. I actually fixed it myself back then by completely taking it apart ;)
My BB Hub/email won't work on the Key2 same thing happens to me as @JanOleHelmbold says needs update and no longer supported
I still use blackberry storm 2....and have latest Android phone. But always keep wallpaper of BlackBerry and tones. Also use bb launcher. I can not forget BlackBerry.
Thank you very much for this video ❤️
Can it run what's app and Uber or not 🤔
Love this phone but love even more your honesty
Bring back the Blackberry Passport.
That’s the best phone that they produced.
Really? Even in comparison to a Key2?
The BlackBerry Hub still works on my BlackBerry Key2 phone. Because it runs on android OS 8, some apps don't work on it though.
Hey, nice Video. I have a Blackberry Key 2 and I use it for develop. Most of the Apps works fine and the Keyboard ist great.
Still using mine as main phone. Typing this on it now. Wish they would remake it.
Nice review, Jan. Great to see your face again: you look a lot older now though 😃 Last watched your videos about 5 years ago. Cheers
Olá! Eu comprei o meu keyone em 2023, que celular incrível!!!
Hugs from Brazil.....
Mejor KEY2
Hey I’m glad you’re back. You’re so handsome , love seeing you. the video is also great.
last used Key2 in 2019. I finally gave up after almost 14 years of always using a Blackberry for communication
BB is an emotion for many❤
Curve was my first phone in 2010/11
In the camera comparison imo blackberry lookes sharper than Iphone!!
Good to see you again man.
Its a beautiful design ❤
I still use my key2 daily❤
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN BUDDY??!! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEEEEEN. WE MISSED PEOPLE LIKE YOU LOVE THE ORIGINAL STUFFS AS A BLACKBERRY PHONE, SHARING THE SAME TASTE. GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK. NOW YOU BECAME A MAN, A REAL ONE HAHA.
I have the KeyOne love the design of the phone but its unusable 😢 i wish someone made a custom rom for it with stock Android
I think you should give unihertz titan or titan slim a try. That's all left for keyboard phones.
I had BlackBerry phones for years. My last BlackBerry was a Key2. Sadly, it wasn't possible to update the version of Android in the phone, so my banking app stopped working when the bank updated its security levels. Several other apps wouldn't work. If I could have updated the version of Android I would still be using it.
is april 2024 and im still using a blackberry key2 and i love it
There are companies producing devices designed to minimize the destructions such as ReMarkable, Kronaby and The Minimal.
Still using the keyone.
@Jan Ole Helmbold I just got a brand new Key2 and I got the Hub to work on it. There is actually nothing I do on it or any apps I use on it that don't still work.
@JanOleHelmbold
Thank you for the video!
I love the hub and it works really well.
a long time sub of your channel. love the update
Passport silver edition. The best phone ever built by blackberry… its a hall of fame
It is a work of art.
Maybe not the specs etc. but this phone came out in '19 or which ever year. And easily, at least the screen size should have come out in 2015. That was Blackberry's constant set back. They were behind delayed in form factors of their phones. It would've kept them afloat.
Have the PRIV. It was barely usable after the first month of getting it, and that was at launch lol.
Thanks Ole for the update and testing the phone out. shame it did not pan out but hey ho.....looking forward to your next video. maybe comapiring and android phone i.e. a pixel phone with an Iphone?
Im still using it, the bad signal qualty is making it pretty difficult
love blackberry phones, still can't able to get one key 2. but i still use my key one and passport 😍😍. don't like to use any other brand.
My hub still works. And still a great phone in 2023.
lmao tinder in 2018 was a great time, kudos to you
blackberry looks cool among employees, businessmen and entrepreneurs
Great review! Thanks much
