I played football for years. It actually kind of screwed me up. I taught myself to bottle up everything in life, all my aggression, anger, frustration, sorrow... everything that was negative, EVERYTHING, and let it all out on the field. I primarily played LB, and I was mean... really mean. I absolutely loved hitting people, my goal was to hit fools so hard they didn't get back up. The guy on the other side of the ball was the cause of all my pain, all my anger, all my hatred, and I'm gonna make him pay, make him feel my pain. And.... so I did. The problem was off the field I was really nuts. Because I bottled everything up, I'd end up losing control if something triggered me. I mean literally losing control, I'd see red, and lose all self control. I could see what I was doing, but couldn't stop myself. I'd just snap. It took me YEARS after I stopped playing to learn how to control my temper it was that bad. The only thing that kept me out of jail was that my pop always taught me, never hit someone in anger. He drilled that into me. So, when I would snap, I would demolish inanimate objects, walls, cars, anything I could get my hands on that wasn't a living thing. I remember when I was a teenager Mom slapped me across the face for calling dad an a$$hole, I snapped, put my head through the horse hair plaster walls a half dozen times before I regained control. The scariest thing was how big I was. I was 6' tall, and weighed 296. I had a 22" neck, and a 56" chest. Could bench 425, and lift half a ton on a leg press. When I enlisted the DI at the reception battalion said "jesus, you're the biggest guy we've ever had come through here. You only have to lose 12 pounds to make weight". The initially said I had to get down to 176 to make my weight to height ratio.
Anyway. If you bottle up your baggage, stop. Find a way of dealing with it. It's very unhealthy. I learned to meditate, I used to chop down trees with an axe. Anything you can do as an outlet to get that evil out of you, before it forces it's way out, in ways you can't control.

you're not alone...I have anger management issues as well but unlike you I'm physically the opposite, only 5'7" 165 lbs, and not muscular at all but I can be very ferocious if provoked...The things that trigger my volcanic anger usually stem from what I perceive as situations where one is taken advantage of, for example, bullies, animal abuse, or simply unprovoked attacks. I definitely need a release and holding in my anger negatively affects me physically. I scream into a pillow or take deep breaths and they both help. Ultimately, however, I would love to channel all that negative energy into something positive through meditation, exercise, and hopefully therapy but not affordable for me...anyways, good luck hope you found peace!

bro your story reminds me not only of me but handfuls of my friends and younger cousins. one of my cousins has a bit of a drinking problem and often ends up drunk and crying about how he "just wants to play football" and it's sad and truthfully i probably have CTE not just from football but from being needlessly violent and reckless. im glad u can at least talk about it my dude our society is sick in the way it tells you that your negative emotions are sin and you shouldnt have them. you gotta find a way to let out the tension that doesnt prepare you for prison or the grave. bless.

If you look at Winslow and Hernandez the problems that haunted them go way deeper than where they went to school, and we should remember that neither of them were born or raised in Florida.

He looked surprised and then angry at his attorney. WTF? You're guilty, dude! I agree that something must have happened to him as a child but I can't feel sorry for him. That only justifies his actions and as a woman who was on the receiving end of a rape, it cheapens the damage he's done. I was 18 when it happened. I'm 60 now. It's a life sentence.

This is probably the 5th straight video of yours that I've watched and this is some top level reporting! FWIW I remember the Butch Davis days and the motor cycle accident was from Winslow doing a wheelie in a parking lot while practicing motorcycle tricks. It wasn't even normal motorcycle riding. His crash put him through like 2 small trees and his right leg went through the handlebars, which were completely split off the bike from the force of the crash. I have the crash pics saved somewhere that were posted on the DawgTalk message board back then.

I am not even a sports fan but when the video about the player in Friday Night Lights popped up, i watched it because I had read the book and saw the movie. I was instantly hooked on this channel! Great commentary and story telling.!

Thank you for sharing such an accurate and informative presentation. New to your channel thoroughly enjoyed content and subscribed today. Recently watched a portion of his trial and sentencing on Court TV. I was shocked at the arrogance and boldness of his actions. At sentencing, acceptance of the plea deal, required he admit guilt to the charges against him and he really struggled with that. I believe he felt he wasn't wrong and why's everyone making such a big deal of this. Thanks again and looking forward to more.
