    Hi
I also use the Mirage system and add to buy several filter trays to have it convenient to use it.
The only issue I have is to find a proper pouch for the filter trays. Would you have some suggestions?
    Thanks!

I use the original one (its included with Tilta Mirage sets with VND), but you can put like 3 and if you want to put more you cannot close it.
But there are pouches for 4" rectangular filters (or 4x5.6) - they should work fine, although due to thickness of the frames you won't be able to use all the slots.
I will probably get one some day, but this is just last position on my buy list :D
You can find tons on amazon ... amzn.to/3XafS3n

      What lens?
They use a small print on their page, and they say that they guarantee no x-patter for 35mm and up on a full frame.
But it all depends on the lens design.
On APS-C I've been able to use even 16mm (24mm equiv) without x-pattern, but some users reported x-pattern on some 35mm lenses on FF cameras.
      I think on FF I got x-patern on 24mm, haven't got it on 35mm (sony F1.8).
And it's actually not that bad, cause with Vaxis 3-7 stops filter I have x-pattern even on 35mm :(.
But generally Tilta VND filter is kinda crappy. Because of x-pattern, cool color cast and stops different that advertised.

FF24-70 leica, real bad w 10-25 mft leica .No x pattern should mean you know. Missed the fine print. I did contact them and i think my message said to stop my apeture down to 3.5 but prob meant what you said 35. I bought 5 thinking one and done. Appriciate the feedback. Thank You

@@DroseMr stopping aperture might help as well cause iris size is smaller then and it can reduce cross pattern because it’s usually take place on the outside of the image circle.
Do you got cross pattern on the whole range or on shorter focal lengths?

Hi what is the brand of beltable filter pouch that you are using in this video?

    • @JoATTech

It's Tilta's. It's a part of Set B and Set C of Tilta Mirage (so version with VND or version with motorized VND).
Sadly it's not included in SET A (just Matte Box).

Thanks for the useful information. I have a sel1224g. sel1224g has no filter groove so I can't use ND filters. Have you verified if this mattebox can be used with sel1224g?

    • @JoATTech
      @JoATTech  Рік тому

This matte box will be problematic on sel1224g.
      Since you cannot detach lenshood.
There is an optional accessory for Tilta Mirage (MMB015) - friction mounted ring, but since you cannot remove this lenshood I bet it won't work.
You may also experience vignetting while using lenses wider than 16mm, so I don't think this mattebox will be useful with this particular lens.

@@JoATTech My camera is built on a cinema rig. I can extend a 15mm rod from the camera under the lens. can i use the 15mm rod to support the mattebox?

@@studiorjp In theory yes. In practice if you got any space between the lens and matte box that will introduce internal reflections (depending where the light source is) - check my part 2 of this matte box review - ~11:11 you can see the reflections.
For Polar Pro Base Camp there is rubber accessory which can be pulled on no-standard lens (lacking threads) - which prevents such reflections. I haven't seen such accessory for Tilta Mirage.

@@JoATTech That's a big problem. Ideally, substitutes should be available at low cost.

@@studiorjp So there is this MMB015, but seems to be a unicorn cause 0 shops list this part.
And you can always try and 3d-print custom ring for each lens.
Actually I might try doing it for my Laowa 12mm, cause I know someone with 3d printer.
