I’ve got the VND kit and it really is good, one small negative thing is that the battery on the Motor drains overnight if you leave it in.😔

@@tmoon1351 Yeah I'm using mine a lot! That's annoying re the battery!

Dude amazing video. The fact that you spent all that time to compare all seven stops in both vnd's in 16 and 35mm is just superb. Thank you.

Hi Paul, I enjoyed watching your video mostly because I got my compendium last Friday, and was interested to see what you had to say about it I’ve gone for the Mirage remote control which I’m planning to build onto the FX3 body as well which may sound a little funny but then I can adjust the filter when hand held, with the right hand ,,,,left hand on the focus.
It’s really interesting to see the comparison I’ll probably put an extra ND on cover that.
I’ll be interested to see anything on the other filters .😊
Thanks again and keep them coming , tom

Hi Tom. The remote kit looks really cool and it makes perfect sense to use it on a rig. I'm hoping to pick up some more vaxis filters soon to try out. Have fun.

Yet again we are looking at the same gear! Just about to pull the trigger on the non motorized version as well. I understand Vaxis has a Pure Mist and Black mist that I would be very interested in as well.

I'm a big fan of Breakthrough photography filters. The Vaxis filters look close in terms of color reproduction. :)

Hi Paul very inspiring your vid 🙏🏻
The Tilta Mirage has been on the market for almost 3 years and I'm not sure if I should buy it anymore. I’m only interested in the fixed Irnd’s and not very impressed by the quality of the vnd…
Do you happen to know if there are any plans for a revamped version of the Mirage?
Or is there another brand to look for?
    Cheers Mitchell

Hi Mitchell, I have no inside information I’m afraid but I’d just go for it as the Mirage works great with the fixed ND’s and I’ve still not seen anything better.

WARNING - I got got caught. Don’t be the next one. The additional 95mm stackable circular filter tray is not for Full Frame Cameras like the SONY A7s, A7, Fx3 that mostly everyone of us have (and probably every other full frame cameras too I guess), as the edges will get in the frame and cause massive vignietting at 35mm and wider. ALSO. For those who have invested in the most expensive model with the motorized VND, guess what? You will be rewarded by not being able to use the additional circular filter tray with the motor on. You will have to waist valuable time unscrewing the motor (So definitely not on a wedding). Forger about the VND if you have the additional circular filter tray extension on. It will not go down completely. So it’s one or the other, not both at the same time. ONE MORE THING. BE AWARE. I don’t know if it’s my unit only but the battery in the motor attached to the VND unit will deplete completely overnight if it stays in. Even if turned off. I have no idea why. And the batteries take an eternity to charge. So your day of shooting might be ruined if you were planing on using the motorized VND the next morning. On the other hand, the battery in the remote control will keep its charge when turned off. At over 1000 Canadian dollars I was expecting nothing but the very best. I’ve been left on my appetite.

How would it handle a graduated filter? You can’t raise or lower the horizon like you can on the base camp for example-or am I mistaken?

    • @PaulJoy
      @PaulJoy  2 роки тому

No there’s no ability partially insert a filter with this one.
