Also, variable ND filters are just two polarizers stacked together, so they can kill contrast and reflections sometimes, instead of truly just knocking down the amount of light entering the lens.
Great info Tyler. My ND filter just came in. I’m stoked to use it.
Awesome! Thanks for dropping by!
Omg nice one Tyler, I'm so glad smallrig are making NDs! Crazy
🙌🙌🙌
Great video dude !
Thanks so much!
Excellent video dude
Hi, Tyler. Just reaching out to send some love. I've really enjoyed watching your videos and your channel come along for the past year or so. I've finally started my own, which was definitely inspired by yours (albeit totally different content). Keep up the good work!
That’s so awesome to hear and I love the first video of yours! Appreciate you!
@@TylerEdwards thank you so much, mate. I’ve genuinely loved your channel since the start (and learned so much from you too!). Thank you. I’m really happy you liked my video 🙏🏼♥️
Stoked that SmallRig is making filters. Are these IRND for blocking infrared pollution?
Same! They aren't marketed as IRNDs, and at this price point, I'd be surprised if they were.
Can you stack the small rig nd filters for greater density? Thx. ❤
Yes!
There is a product called SimTray that you can screw in your vnd into and use as a rectangular filter to fit into the matte box.
Great video and glad smallrig are making these filters.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Wow
Just wow
Hi I am build out a new rig. I am picking up this matte box. I am also curious if you can recommend and variable ND filter that you find quality without breaking the break. I see you mention Free well in the vudeo
It’s hard to find good quality for variable neutral density filters, which are just two circular polarizers which can introduce unwanted artifacts or color casts.
I bought some fixed ND filters from Urth: 3-stop, 6-stop, and 10-stop. I use these for most productions because of their quality, but I also have a circular variable ND filter from Urth when I absolutely need the convenience such as with run-and-gun shooting, but even then I sometimes go with fixed ND’s if the lighting won’t be changing. Their filters are pretty low cost: about $30-40 each
Honestly, quality VND and not breaking the bank doesn’t really exist. There are cheaper options out there but you will run into bad color shifts and other optical issues. I would highly recommend not sacrificing on quality VND for the sake of budget as it will have a direct impact on the image. Rent some for gigs until you have the cash to purchase a quality set 👍
I like to use the smallest mattebox from small rig to keep my setup small.. can I also use it with square filters?
only 4x5.65
Hello, I wonder if it is possible to put multiple like 2 or 3, 4x5 filters together ?
Yes you can
