Mel here. The Smashing Pumpkins song "Cyr" (Nov. 2020) + this "You and Me and ABC" promo (1980) is the new commercial for 2023 I've decided. I actually didn't edit the video to fit the song here either. I was totally going to. Then I watched it again and realized, I didn't have to. It's... perfect. (I did add the lyrics, however). I know this isn't our usual video, but I just felt like sharing with everyone. Love you.
I saw The Smashing Pumpkins, Jane's Addiction and Poppy do a concert last November. The entire concert was 6 hours long and it was excellent. I had never heard much of Poppy before but after her hour-long set, I really liked it. She screams in most of the songs, and very metal.
you guys are killing it .
do not change .
i have a compound in the swamps of louisiana .
yall welcome when shtf .
it has everything you need to survive my only son died and every one else is gone . hell im dying . 😊
We love you too.
Hey Mel! I have a total crush on you 🥲
Appreciate it Mel
The message was almost lost on me. The fact the Smashing Pumpkins work with Sumerian Records and that bassist Melissa Auf der Maur is a happy, self-proclaimed witch pops into my head. All popular music has kind of been ruined when you look into it's roots/connections.
All books too.
They literally ruin everything.
I can’t watch so many movies now because of the same reason. Like realizing most “icons” of USA cinema have engaged or helped in covering up sxualabuse ofminors.
I guess I appreciate Billy Corgan being on infowrs years ago, but I have a feeling Billy knows a lot more than he is willing to say in regards to occultism in the industry and all of Courtney Love’s background and connections- which he HAD to have known, especially by now.
Whenever he talked on howard stern (another person that ruins everything) about seeing someone shape-shift for real, I suspect he was talking about Courtney.
One thing Corgan has always been open about, even in his early days, is his desire to “hit it big” and succeed as a musician in the industry.
And he probably still feels that way today so he has to play within their game.
@@mightytaiger3000 I have not and will not support any hollywood movie ever again, i stopped in 2020. The only new movie I've watched is 'The Sound of Freedom'. I pretty much won't listen or buy any music anymore either.
I'm only one person, but it's important for me not to support such evil things.
They've infiltrated the "independent" realm, too. When I see a new artist I like, I look them up. If they were descended from military, politicians, other hellywood peeps, famous authors, or anyone famous, for that matter, I strike them off the list. Ex: Jewel claimed to be destitute, homeless, alone, when in fact she descends from politicians, and her family owns hundreds of acres of land in Alaska, which they changed laws around, so it can never be taken from that family, or broken up. Talk about descending from royalty. And pretending she was something more like "us." Same with taylor swift. She swiftly lied to us all about her true beginnings. She wasn't "discovered" on youtube. She was funded and propelled into the music realm because her grandmother was a world famous opera singer. Why aren't REAL talented people ever given so much airtime? I'm so sick of it. There's a book about the weird happenings in Laurel Canyon, where the music "programming" empire was. Worth a read. Also Dr. Mary's Monkey.
Bread & Circuses for 100 years.
Hey! Do you think we are on the verge? No. They'll just keep slowly drawing back the curtain to reveal... another curtain. Bread and circuses for 100,000 years.
i would say more
Just the energy you feel from the song feels so evil.
And yet, they're all gleefully smiling.....projecting that false sense of happiness.......reminds me of that movie "Smile", & just how creepy they looked, right before they were about to go on their murderous rampage.
Creepy.
Very weird song...then again, I've always thought that Smashing Pumpkins was a very strange band and their music has always sent chills down my spine.
@@nerdofgames1608LOL 😂😂😂😂. Oooh, scary!
@@silvermainecoons3269 Seriously, they have fallen along way from their 90s hit, "Allstar"!
What a fine ABC lineup back in 1980. Single-digit me loved that crap.
The ABC Cavalcade of Stars!... 1980's style.
😂😂😂
Lauren Tewes (Love boat host) got fat. But she was riding that 'white horse' back then and stayed nice n svelte....😉
And looked forward to TV guide every week. THE IRONY? Smashing Pumpkins was the antithesis of 80s rock when they came out with "Cherub Rock" in 1993. Alt/grunge 100%, but this song..??😊
The movie running man is running through my head because they did this first and it's a great absurd view of the dystopia that we're seeing collapsing!
that's exactly what I thought of too !
Wait, was that Burgess Merideth doing disco ?
Like they are dancing to our demise...
I think you are correct
I feel like you just presented a biblical lyrical parable of the end times cometh with a visual of how we are ignoring the inevitable instead of grasping and preparing accordingly.
Climb aboard we're expecting you
lol
Everything in the late 70's early 80's had a dance number. no wonder I imagine random dance skits in my mind.
I haven't seen many of these faces in a long time, don't watch tv much anymore, but this fits all too well!
Steve Martin lol
The vast majority of them are dead now.
Leave to Melissa to find connections that would never be found by anyone else, ever
I just think of all hollywood actors as kind of robots now. Wind 'em up and put a script in front of them and unleash them to influence their 'fans'. Its as though they really have no mind of their own at all. They need their owner to tell them what to say and feel so they have continued access to money. Any thought we had of them as being commonsense humans has been dispelled.
Good job Melissa! We need some serious humor in this ultra serious world we are stuck in! I loved this video!
Ultra sick world.
@@jmac4952 Because satan's subhuman offspring of Cain are running it and we let them.
Can you smell it? Shlts in the wind. Oh yes it is.
Not bad. It's kind of haunting to see all those actors who held up that network in 1980... including a young Tom Hanks.
And an aging Burgess 'Penguin' Meredith ...
@@nickweech3487 Joyce DeWitt was hot too.
I'd say most of them are deceased now.
Its wild how their dancing lines up with the song. Janice from three's company steals the show.
This almost had a Running man vibe. Before they release the prisoners down the slide into the fighting pits. Putting on a little song and dance for the at home audience.
The rhythm is gonna get you!

Henry Winkler’s not feelin it, lol
We the people are really starting to get pissed off about all the excuses the government is making about the poverty, and desperation we all going through right now. 😳

But I think your mind is free-er?!😊😮😂
@@mauimixer6040are you insane?
The evil stories that where pushed down our throats ... I remember the awkward feelings and am so immensely grateful to still be able to sense.
They were programming the minds of the peasantry to see evil as "good" and good as "evil"......slowly, a little bit at a time. Like a serpent creeping......
It’s official, I am old af - I recognized by character name, actual name and shows, more than 5 entertainers in the ABC promo.
You may not be as old you think. I got about 90% of them . . . ✌😎
Yeah I'm Gen X and recognized most of them as well.
The 80's were the deepest depth of the Matrix slumber. If I were forced to go back in and had my choice of when it would be, I guess it would be about 1984....interesting.
I was 13 then, and having the time of my life!
@@Katatawnic 😂😂😂me too!
I regret to inform you that it was 1945. The Europeans were diminished (UK, France, Germany, Russia) and the field was open for them to establish their reign. Check these dates and draw your conclusion: 45, 47, 49, 51.
If you want to live in better times 1945 was the gold mine: with a BA you could be assigned as the auditor in many occupied and not countries and make money by simple filing up financial statii of companies within.
I find it interesting how so many movies, commercials, and the like continue to put 80s music into everything they produce. I think this gives credence to them longing for the control they had back then.
@@neatnateable I can answer you from a field familiar to me: the current consumer status with the highest bying power (because they support their kids. Kids have the highest disposable income) is the generation between 1975-1982, i.e. the 80s generation. This is why you have in the products so much 80s nostalgia. Its all for the money.
I grew up listening to Smashing Pumpkins, and loved many of their songs. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness was my favorite album. But now, listening to them sing, makes me feel like I need to scrub my skin with steel wool. Thank you, Jesus, for rescuing a wretch like me.
Ditto! So well said!
You needed to be born a little earlier. Mellon Collie was the sellout album. Siamese Dream made them blow up and it destroyed them. I do, however, agree that the world is a vampire.

Love it! I can't help but wonder how much cocaine was needed to get these celebrities, some of whom were serious "actors", to dance around and lip sync in sparkly outfits. 😆
This made me realize how old I am, I was a preteen at the airing of this original video. 😢
how many ch1ld mole$sters were dancing around in this predictive programming hit piece
Just a few compared to what's really out there. these ppl are SICK
Tom Hanks for sure!
Billy Corgan's round "Charlie Brown" like head would nod in approval! 😁
Better times, or at least the appearance of better times. Certainly a better time to grow up in.
its like metaphor of our congress parading around
It's so weird, because I'm seeing all of these celebrities I grew up with and admired and then since 2020 exposed so many celebrities as part of the problem, I just have to wonder how corrupt these people all were? Would I hate them as much as I hate current celebs? Watching this certainly depicts them as the tools they are used for. We were just so much more innocent back then, we couldn't see it.
True. I remember thinking the band "Queen" was just named after a literal Queen (like Elizabeth) and Boy George just liked to dress up in weird clothes for fun....😁
Interesting...2020 is perfect vision and now the vail is being lifted for every eye to see
Sean Penn the war monger and U2. I shut off anything to do with them.

Just don't remember him dancing. But love the movie. As a kid ,I use to sell shopping bags and Philly soft pretzels outside of the butcher shop in the movie,on the 9th st Itialian market. Now that's an all star cast! Memberberries.
Welcome to Fantasy Island!
That was the name of one of the 1st places I worked after moving to Maui, and yes, Lahaina, Maui. I sold fun ,excitement and memories of paradise (sold Island activities and adventures). All of those locations...GONE Now😢, as well as loved ones.

I hate all those people even more now.😂😂😂😂.
i miss that era so very much. for all it's problems what I wouldn't give to go back...
I don't know what your point is with this, but I'm not afraid to date myself. I recognized a lot of those people from TV when I was a kid. It was a lot of fun. Thank you. Is this supposed to be a glimpse of my childhood before WWIII? What are you doing? What's going on?
Wow, television was always ridiculous.
That was fantastic!!! Billy Corgan singing we are on the verge. Stare down your masters with the promise of oneness and what you are. Sounds like a plan….
In 1980 I was 11 years old.
Yes, I remember this.
Ive been thinking about Billy Corgan a lot lately, because he was the first person I heard explaining the panopticon theory a few years ago. 👁️🌀 He done told me for sure 😮
It's nice to feel some hopeful energy that "were on the verge" because it all just feels much too late these days.
This is pretty awesome 😎 So much nostalgia behind the pumpkins and a beautiful surprise to discover a kinship in his philosophic awareness of our dystopian present.
Nice unexpected gem to wake up to in the middle of the night
I hear you and I have also had Corgan on my mind for no good reason.. well, there was a reason.. I noticed as I was watching the wailing wall and those at the wall and their clothing regalia reminded me of Corgans striped cloaks then I got to noticing how similar those at the wall who had these bands wrapped around their arms etc. much in a way you see Japanese Bondage straps tied .. bizzare thoughts I know
But there you have it, some absolute nonsense correlations from me lol
@@BrodyLuv2 nice
@@BrodyLuv2 Correlations of any kind are good when not given undue importance. What are you refering to as "Corgans striped cloaks" is this a song, part of a video, something he wore a lot. I'm sorry, I do not know anything more than 5 - 10 of their songs and maybe 1 or two of their videos.
I am intrigued by your comments. GK Chesterton said that fear of dragons will keep you from tackling a lizard infestation. Are you or this mind?
I remember seeing them in small clubs back in the 80’s before they broke big. Great band.

This is great it’s got a sinister “twilight zone” social commentary vibe.
Rich Little and Ricardo Montalbán.
Funny how it fit so well. Kinda spooky even.
I used to love playing music to random media and just enjoying the synchronicities as they popped up. An old favorite was some funky old Coney Island ad that literally hit every major tonal shift of a certain Burial track I can't recall; e.g. the animatronic Indians with their bows at full notch rising out of the trees just as the song hit a note of tension, that sort of thing.
we used to call these ‘poor man’s videos’ watching tv with the volume on zero and listening to albums

Synchrosthesia is a term I made up many years ago as a VJ. Well done... I might borrow this for a BigBrother2084 (my vj/dj monicker) gig here in KC. The gigs always are musically themed to dystopia.

We paid those guys to pimp us to our own soundtracks... more than weird, looking back now that I'm 40's and have severe orthopedic issues and chronic pain (not to mention a condition I was born with)...
I tried not to wear the mandated high heels, doc Martin's got me into trouble...
Grateful not to be pharmed ever though.

I had a front row spot for Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream tour 1993. The guy in the opening act came out in a trench coat and midway through the first song, dropped the coat and was completely naked. I gave up the front row spot about 6 rows back so I didn’t have to have the dude’s dong waving in my face for a whole set. When the Pumpkins came out I was able to squeeze up a bit, it was a great show, Bing Crosby Theater. Firm handshakes all around to those who saw Billy play when he still had hair.
