    Thank you so much, Atty. I've been binge-watching your vlogs to get a glimpse of how my life will be in the next weeks. At first, it made me doubt my choice of entering law school (esp during a pandemic and classes will be in the new normal) but at the end, it gave me the motivation that I needed. Yassss to this! I apprecite your honesty here, Atty. Tina. 💯 Back when I was about to enter law school, ang dami kong pinanood ng vlogs about what to expect in law school and most of them sinasabi nila na "you don't have to memorize, you need to understand". But based on my personal experience, yes, there's lot of things to understand AND memorize. Hehe. And oh! My oblicon prof required us to memorize the provisions in verbatim too, that's more or less 45 provisions/week. 😂

    I hope you see this and I'm not sure if you've discussed this before but is it advisable to buy books or just borrow? What are the pros and cons if you buy your own law books?(and vice versa).

    • @TinaAmadorRobles
      @TinaAmadorRobles  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Miles, I'd definitely advise you to buy your own books, or if too expensive, which is one of the cons, then just have the books photocopied and ring bound (I would do that a lot back then, to save money). For maximum learning, it's very important that you get to write on, highlight, mark, and sometimes even dog-ear the pages of your books/photocopied materials. You would be too shy to do that with a book which you knew you had to return. So at the very least, go for your own photocopies :)

    Hi Atty! I have two questions for you.
    As a former professor of Law, I was just wondering how you would grade recitations? =) I am a first year student in Law School, and I am still trying to figure out the ropes. Haha!
    Also, when I write my case briefs, I usually have it detailed. However, when it comes to recits, I often have a difficult time remembering all the facts, issues, and held: as there are so many.
    If you're wondering my style: After finishing my case briefs, I spend 3-4 hours rereading and memorizing the details before recits starts. However, when I am called, I suddenly forget the details needed in the case as there are so many details that I had just inputted in my brain from all the cases.
    Do you have any tips? Thanks so much!

    • @czarinajoypena7716
      @czarinajoypena7716 4 роки тому +2

      Hi, I'm a 4th yr law student. Ganito po yung tip na binigay samin ng prof when reading a case:
      1. Find the issue relevant to the subject, especially to the topic.
      2. Read the SC decision
      3. Then read the facts
      In my opinion, before doing all of these steps, read the digest first to have an overview of the case. Halo-halo kasing subjects sa isang case, like remedial, criminal and civil.
      Better to read the SCRA book din dahil yung doctrine ay nasa start ng pages.
      Always re-read and understand the SC decision or the doctrine of the case.
      Hope this helps. Good luck! :)

    • @TinaAmadorRobles
      @TinaAmadorRobles  4 роки тому +1

      Hello! Don't yet. Allow yourself to get your study rhythm going first- get accustomed to reading your codals, cases, and commentaries- before you add another material to your list. SBRN is very helpful for memorizing enumerations, for midterms/finals, and for bar review. But I wouldn't recommend it for day-to-day studying for freshmen because you'll still be learning how to deal with the heavy reading assignments from the 3 Cs. Adding SBRN would be confusing for the daily grind. But I would still use it for memorizing enumerations and studying for midterms/finals, even if I were a freshie :)

      @TinaAmadorRobles  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Shane, I'd suggest it only for memorizing enumerations and simplified case doctrines, and for studying for midterms/finals/bar exams. Ideally, you would study it alongside your main materials (codal, commentary, cases) for the daily grind, but I know that adding another material to the mix may be too much for some law students. I always had SBRN for major subjects as backup material, but didn't get to use them all the time because yun nga, dami nang ibang inaaral. Heavy use talaga was during midterms, finals, and- the heaviest of all- bar exams. I swear, study it for bar exams. Best of luck! 😊

    Hi atty! Do you have any tips on making digests? How specific do they have to be? Cause it's hard to memorize all the cases if the digests are detailed. I'm a first year student btw.

    • @TinaAmadorRobles
      @TinaAmadorRobles  4 роки тому

      Hi, The Lobster (interesting username)! Tips:
      1. Make your facts, issue, and ratio detailed and specific, but only as to the main issue in the case. If you absolutely have to, you can include discussions on secondary issues, but don't make them specific. I would recommend making digests only about the main issue though (not secondary issues anymore).
      This is also a good format to use if there are many issues:
      - Facts
      - Issue 1
      - Ratio for Issue 1
      - Issue 2
      - Ratio for Issue 2
      - Issue 3
      - Ratio for Issue 3
      2. Use bullet point format instead of long paragraphs.
      3. A lot of the time back then, I wouldn't have time to make digests, actually. Instead, what I would do was just read the case, then write a 3-5 sentence summary on the first page of the case. It worked naman. Haha.

    • @the_lobster
      @the_lobster 4 роки тому

      Tina Amador-Robles Atty, if you just mention the important facts and issues, won't the prof give you a lower grade because hindi madyadong detailed?

    • @TinaAmadorRobles
      @TinaAmadorRobles  4 роки тому

      @The Lobster Are these digests you're being graded for, or digests purely for your own reference? I assumed it was the latter. Either way, digests should tackle only the salient, specific points of the case in relation to the specific subject you're making the digest for. They're supposed to be short precisely because they only supplement, and not substitute the actual case. I've been a law prof and had I required my students to submit digests then, I would have gotten irritated if they had given me digests containing irrelevant issues for our purposes. 🙂

    Good afternoon Attorney! Is it okay po ba na philosophy or psychology ang pre-law ko? Thank you po 😊

    • @TinaAmadorRobles
      @TinaAmadorRobles  4 роки тому +1

      Yes! Between Philo and Psych, I'd choose Philo. Trains you how to reason and to debate with another person. While I've said time and time again that undergrad course doesn't really matter, if you want a course that COULD help in law school, English/Philo are the best choices :)

      Nope! I'm not good in public speaking. What's more important is that you can clearly express to your prof what you're trying to say.
