Hi Atty! Thankyou for this. I hope you continue to upload new videos. I’m an incoming first year law student and I feel so excited yet fearful at the same time. First sem will start this Aug 10 and I’m afraid to adapt this “new normal” online classes. I don’t know if I can cope up or not since I still prefer the traditional learning method. i agree atty! not being good in english doesn't necessarily mean you won't do well in law school. exhibit a: me. haha. i always stutter and would always need to find the right words during recitations, but i managed to survive :D

Atty., what do you think about the claimed high possibility of ai replacing lawyers or at least low-level legal practitioners, solicitors, and law student interns in the near future. I’m afraid that automation might make breaking through, in an already difficult industry to get into, impossible for both young and future lawyers. What are your thoughts on this po?

Hello! :) Start with the basic law of the land and the most basic document for any lawyer... the 1987 Constitution. You can move on to the Civil Code, then the Family Code, then the Revised Penal Code. All searchable on Google. I recommend though that you don't read law books yet... instead, read whatever literature you prefer! What's important is that you READ and broaden your horizons. I myself loved to read fiction at your age. 🙂

Hello atty! Just wanted to let you know that this video was insightful. Gusto ko din iask kung meron bang type/s of lawyer na suitable para sa undergraduate in the field of technology like me. Ung tipong type ng lawyer na magagamit ung mga natutunan niya sa undergrad course niya. Ung course ko po is in the field of technology wherein we are the ones who is in charge of production, fabrication, electrical wiring etc. Looking forward to your response. :)

Hi Ms. Tina! I know it's been 2 years and that it's a no-brainer that you don't have to be well-versed in English to thrive in law school, but may I ask if reading as a hobby or being a bookworm is an advantage in law school? Not so much that it's gonna make it easy, but more of bearable :)

Hi Erika! Happy to hear that you're honing your English skills this early. :) Re: BP 880, you'll learn in your first year of law school, in your Constitutional Law 2 subject, that the right to freedom of assembly under the Bill of Rights (e.g. to rally) is validly subject to limitations by the state, in the exercise of its police power. Requiring that permits be secured for rallies in public places is constitutional and, I believe, necessary for public order considerations. Hope this enlightens you. :)

Pag wala akong kausap english yung form ng entertainment ko. UA-cam, basa ng articles etc sablay lang talaga ako magsalita at magsulat. Pag pinagtest mo ko sa grammar pasado naman and kabisado ko mga verb tenses. Ang problema lang inaral ko ng hatinhatinyung grammar kaya pag pinagsama ko na yung mga rules nakakalito na.

Pumasa napo ako sa Philsat , at nag submit na nang requirement sa ibang school did2 sa Cebu,pero para mahihirapan akong sa babayaren. Nag confirm napo yung law school na sinubmittan ko na eligigble ako.kaso ngayon natatakot na ako sa kakaisip kung paano ko pag kakasyahin yung income ko, may 3 kapatid pa akong pag aaralin.Kaya, kahit parang ambisyosya ako, baka may financial scholarship or mas mura ang TF sa UP if ever makapasok ako. Yes, you need to be good at math but by good it means that you have know the basic and some advance mathematics. Taxation is part of your law subjects. You don't need to be excelent you just need to have the fundamentals.

Hi Reese, you do have to memorize, but you don't have to be good at it. Don't mark yourself as terrible at memorization if you haven't been through law school yet- you never know how good you could be until you're in the law school environment and forced to study, recite, memorize, and comprehend like you never have before. Baka di mo alam pero ang galing mo pala 🙂

Hello! :) My favorite stress-relieving thought is "If this isn't going to affect me in 5 years, I'm not going to spend more than 5 minutes stressing about it". If we let stress overcome us, we'll die early (and miserable). So we must fight it :)
Hi Atty. Tina. Sorry but I need consultation from a lawyer. If you could answer my questions, thank you so much. It is about employment law or labor code? hehe. I gained certificate in my training, now 2 months employee na po ako after the 3 week training. I wanted to resign to for my career growth :((
1. The company didnt provide any training contract at hindi sinabi yung amount and years of service. Can I still resign?
2. They said that the training is paid and implied. Now, kung magreresign at maglabas sila ng training contract, Can i refuse to sign it and not pay the amount?
3. May chance na makulong po ba pag di ko binayaran? haha
4. Usually po ba pag nagrereturn ng amount, installment po ba ito at may limit date na pwede bayaran?

Hello! I've mentioned in some of my videos that ultimately, your pre-law course actually doesn't matter :) But if you insist on taking a course that may help with law school, I (and law professors) recommend English or Philosophy. Those courses help you manipulate the language and reason with another person, respectively- skills you will need in law school. If you want to become a corporate lawyer, Accountancy! Good luck!

Definitely po. There were a few students in UP Law around your age when I was there. My husband also had a batchmate in Beda Law who was in his 50s! If it's your dream, dont let age deter you po. :)

Yes, mas mura ang tuition sa UP because it's partly subsidized by tax payers. When I was there, tuition was either around 7K (Group B) or 26K (Group A) a semester. It's probably higher now, but you can always call UP Law to inquire :)
im not scared about the english part even the recits part. what scares me the most is the memorization part. I am not the best when it comes to memorizing things, im not bad at it but its definitely my weakest spot.
Many of us in law school were forced to confront what we felt were our weaknesses. Public speaking, humiliation, stress management, etc. Dont let fear decide your fate. :)

If you want to enhance your coms skills work in a call center, you will be required to speak and think english. it will make you at least confident with the command of English language.

1987 Constitution, Civil Code, Family Code, Revised Penal Code, Corporation Code, Intellectual Property Code, and Revised Rules of Civil Procedure are some of the codes which every lawyer has studied. All Google-able and all free. :)
