Apologies in advance for my negativity,
The amount of people that sit in the A&E or ER departments and constantly complain about not being seen after a few hours for such a bloody minor thing... a bruised foot? Really? Do you really think that needs to be seen by a specialist that has to deal with people around them having strokes, seizures, losing their ability to walk, breathe, have their heart beat on their own, for such a small thing?
Constant complaining about "Ohh it's taking hours!", you should genuinely be ashamed of yourself. You clearly have no respect for what professionals in the emergency medicine specialty do. Plus, you're in the UK. You have 0 right to complain about wait times considering the fact the NHS is FREE healthcare (Yes, I know taxes are a thing).
Emergency medicine operate via triage. There are people that're being treat for the worst possible things right behind you, losing loved ones, abilities to do, think, function, anything like that, and people are treat in order of severity. Someone that has a large wound and is actively bleeding will be seen before your idiotic needs of a damn bruised foot. The GP exists for a reason. You are not in immediate need of emergency care, take some pain medication, elevate it and for the love of God, call the GP and don't bother emergency medicine specialists for such stupidity.

Same here for Aus. I split my chin open at Xmas time after a quad bike accident and needed about 8 stitches. Had to go to hospital as no drs open that time of year and waited 4 hours. I've also been rushed straight in with an asthma attack. What's wrong with these entitled people!? Even if the foot was broken, don't they understand what an emergency is?!

I think you’re spot on with the complaining. Like it sucks to wait- that’s valid- but you think it in your head cause overall you’re waiting for a long time because you’re not critical like the other people coming in by ambulance or helicopter. I will say that we can’t necessarily judge people for coming in for something minor (again, we can judge them for saying negative things) cause there are a ton of situations where people are sent to ER for minor things. I’ve had several situations in the past where I’ve been sent for very minor things simply because no general doc office would be able to do one of the labs needed or do a scan, etc. or they’re not open. Had a few times where something wasn’t dire but it couldn’t wait 2 more days for a regular office to be open so I had to go in to the ER. I felt silly but they were kind and acknowledged that I did have to come in. But the difference was, I waited patiently and was kind.

What annoys me that the extremely minor injury like bruise on any part of the body people automatically go directly to A&E and wasting time waiting about only to be told all is fine nothing broke. I have gone to A&E 6 times in my life two are bone related breaks one is my left index finger almost severed by a hatchet and other is broken my left shin bone and the rest is ankle and wrist related sprains one almost dislocated left wrist during a fall landed on top of my arm while trying to put my left hand out but it was too late. Other than I consider myself lucky only limbs related injuries

Yes, although I've had to go a good number of times, it was for severe asthma & I'd wait till I couldn't walk across the room without a whiff of my rescue inhaler before I'd go.
I also deal with constant chronic pain from fibro, severe osteoarthritis in my neck & back, bulging discs in 2 areas of the spine & spinal stenosis. I've had the bad pain for about 25 yrs now. I've only been to the ER for the pain once, when it felt as if my lower back was being electrocuted. And I waited for 12 hrs that time. Two hours is a walk in the park! My partner had to go home & get me my meds it took so long!

Starting with those broken pelvic bones, add in all the arteries and veins that run through the pelvic area, you have a recipe for a piece of pelvic bone causing a major internal bleed. I wish I could say I would be an elderly couple in a great loving marriage. But that doesn’t come to all of us and unfortunately I don’t have one of those marriages. I wish I could start over and go back 35 years. Unfortunately, life doesn’t go that way. We don’t always foresee. The future and relationships are not always what we think they are going to be. My husband has not been a kind and loving husband. He is one of those with a personality trait that sees everyone else with the problem when really, he is the one with the problem. It’s these shows that I see the long lasting relationships that I know I will never have. Mine has stopped at 33 years. Now I realize even though the relationships we see, look loving and beautiful, they do come with difficulty and trouble. I do want to wish everyone gods blessings. Amen.

I believe the smartest decision hospitals made, was to allow family members to stay with patients, no matter the age, of that patient. I think it took so much stress out of the family's lives, knowing they could stay in most departments, with their loved one, no matter their age. It not only calmed the patient, but it freed up valuable time, of those nurses, who were required in rooms, giving more attention. If a family member stays with a patient, they can alert the staff of any need, their loved

@@PaganPunkok so here in the US we have the Emergency Room and then we also (in theory) have Urgent Care which is like a step down and for people that need like....stitches or something x-rayed like ankles and whatever so it (again in theory) keeps the ER from getting so backed up.
Problem we're seeing now is that because of how many medical staff either quit their jobs because of greedy corporations or were laid off due to greedy corporations, a lot of these centers have closed.

Your medical is different than we have so I can just make a wee statement about the state of our ER...we are having a fit over here with a really shortage of staff and technicians that we call to see our doctor, they are making the appointments out until end of January, so the doctors are saying to go to ER/ED, which is insane bc ppl that are not well have to wait for doctors or make the ER crazy...then we are made us feel stoopid, but yet, we have to go to ER

Most of them have the gift and ability to practically raise us from the dead…Is this just me, or do some of you think this too??? I say most ,bcuz some lack direction with honesty integrity and honor…. I thank you all for your service and have tons of respect for what you do…God bless you all…❤❤❤🫡

I love hearing the young Brits complaining about wait times... In the USA the average senior spends about 5000 (yes thousand) pounds per year on healthcare out of pocket. Some people who get cancer literally go bankrupt!!!.. The NHS while not perfect is absolutely superb and I didn't realise just how good until I emigrated from London to the USA.

The couple in the waiting room complaining and "identifying inefficiencies" annoyed me so much. Clearly never had an actual medical emergency if they think a bruised foot is deserving of instant attention. She wasn't even in that much pain. And then to complain that they said it was just a bruised foot and that there was nothing that needed doing. I would have done significant glaring at the two of them if I was also waiting.

34:44 Another couple of whiners. They are comparing an emergency room to McDonald's or a hairdresser? "Sorry there were so many people ahead of you with major injuries and cancer. We'll get to your boo boo much sooner next time."
35:00 He's identified some "flagrant inefficiencies" Good for him. He has been there for an hour and is now an expert. Decades of experience and training can't compare to his genius.

If you go to a hair dresser they’re not about to have someone coming into the shop about to bleed out if they don’t get their hair cut right away. Also, if you’re well enough to walk into an er you’re well enough to visit a gp or urgent care. Why are you even in the er?
