    Today is my husband's 60th birthday and while he is not a big baker, he loves to bake oatmeal cookies. The old school way. As soon as I watched the video this weekend, I knew that these were a must! He did not want a party nor a cake so I just now made these for him! I added a bit of vanilla extract and while I love raisins, he does not so I omitted them. Cannot wait for him to try them later. Thank you SO much! 😘

      @@barbiec4312 He did! I added some raisins to a couple for me! I plan to try them again with honey instead of the maple syrup to see if I prefer one sweetener over the other.

    I made these today, they're super good!! They were a tiny bit too salty but I think that's because the peanut butter I used had salt. These will make great snacks on the go, thank you!!

      No sugar period or no white sugar? The maple syrup and honey count as sugars.

    I made them this morning. I didn't have sea salt, so I used less table salt. I smashed up some snickerdoodle almonds that I need to use. I found the mixture a bit tacky but I was able to shape with the use of spoons; firmed up nicely in the fridge.

    I don't know why I haven't thought of raisins before!! I've made a similar goodie with cacao nips a few weeks ago. I used flax (out of chia) and unfortunately regular peanut butter (the only one I had on hand) and a bit less maple syrup.They tasted good, but like another commenter said, they didn't really stick well. I'll make using the pourable nut butter like you suggest! Thank you!!!

    • @CleanandDeliciousDani
      @CleanandDeliciousDani  Рік тому +2

      It's ALL about the brand of nut butter - is the nut butter is dry, the texture of the energy bites will not be right.

    I tried this recipe and really enjoyed the end result. One question, as I only used 3/4 of the honey you recommended, as I find honey, syrups or other sugary additives too sweet for me. What else may be used as a binder? I tried only half the amount of honey at first and found the balls would not bind. Appreciate the help anyone is able to provide.

    I recently read that uncooked oats are loaded with lectins. I have not researched it yet.
    So I researched the scientific aspects of Gundry’s claims re lectin. The bottom line, lectins are not a danger in most foods but cooking foods (grains, beans etc) is beneficial.

    These look delicious! I would use the chocolate chips vs. the raisins. Thank you for the peanut butter recommendation! I’m definitely going to try that brand. The worst part of natural pb is that it’s hard to stir. All the oil on top but so hard to mix what’s at the bottom.

    • @tainav618
      @tainav618 Рік тому +1

      If you haven't already, try dtoting it upside down - it really happens if you happen to buy a thicker brand of pb

    • @michellefitz4287
      @michellefitz4287 Рік тому

      I recently saw a gal dump the entire jar of pb into a small food processor. She pulsed it a couple of times and it made the entire thing thick and creamy. Then scooped it back into the jar with a spatula. I thought that was pretty smart!

    Looks great. Would these last outside of the fridge after being set say for a day if made the night before or the morning if thinking this and variations would make great snacks for hikes or road trips. Also is the maple or any liquid sweetner a necessity for helping thrm to roll together or can i use to taste or not at all.

    Love your videos. Do you know of any clean & delicious replacements for chocolate/cocoa? I recently discovered my kidneys create oxalates-calcium stones and my urologist said they’re treating more and more patients with these. Biggest no-no’s in a low oxalates diet are almonds, spinach, beets, bran, tea and chocolate. As long as I eat these sparingly, I’ve found acceptable alternatives for everything but the cocoa. I’m thinking of trying carob to replace cocoa except can’t find any chips or bars that aren’t made with hydrogenated oil and/or palm oil, to which I am allergic.

    I decided to make two batches but unfortunately even with the required ingredients the amount of each ingredient especially the peanut butter it's still too dry. To add more peanut butter I just might as well just eat the peanut butter out of the jar. Not a fan of this recipe really. Because the balls wouldn't stick together I ended up just using it as a topping on my soy yogurt
