  • Here, we install the Hansshow V6 on a 2018 Model 3: tesbros.com/products/hansshow...
    If you have a Tesla Model 3 that's not a 2021+ build, you most likely don't have an automatic trunk. Installing this can be a challenging DIY project - but it's possible! You just need a few hours and a lot of patience. It also really helps if you have a partner to help you.

    One of the better install videos for the power trunk kit and I've seen most of them. Running strut cables through the blue grommets is the best solution - I cringe when people run it through tail light hole as they deforms the seal there and makes it a potential leak spot. Even worse is when installers drill holes through metal body for these cables when holes are already available. Only thing I did differently there was I hole-punched the blue grommet (instead of cutting an X) to get a perfectly round hole for the cable plus added silicone sealant to make it 100% water-tight.
    Everyone that has installed one of these knows the wire-fishing process through the rubber conduit is a bit of a pain and even though I had lots of WD-40 on hand I decided to buy a specific cable-pulling lubricant as I was worried WD-40 could have long-term impact on the rubber conduit as well as electrical connector.
    Again, very very well done!

      That's a great tip! I'll have to try the hole puncher, too. Glad you found it helpful and we'll try to do more videos like these! Frunk video is on our list!

    Guys - this is a great video. I have the V6 version and it’s hard to find a good video that shows the details from beginning to end. I really appreciate having this video as a resource to assist me get though this somewhat difficult install. Of course, it would take less than a couple of hours to do it a second time once i learned my lessons. I also ran the strut wires through the light holes instead of removing the bumper.

      Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
      - Do a soft reset by holding down the steering wheel scroll buttons for 10 seconds. The screen should go black and then reboot.
      - Redownload the Tesla app.
      - Make sure all the wiring connections are secure and properly connected. Sometimes a loose connection can cause intermittent issues.
      Hopefully one of these will help! Usually issues like that are a glitch that can be solved by rebooting or updating something.

      Congrats! We actually made a video on how to remove and put back the bumper for the Model Y so this video will help. ua-cam.com/video/BWmAlfzCtoc/v-deo.html
      But in a nutshell, put the middle in first. There is an arrow you can see to align. Once it clips, put the 10mm bolt with your fingers to hold it up and then the sides should line up very easily. Hope this helps!

    NOTE TO EVERYONE. I HAVE INSTALLED MY STRUT WIRING WITHOUT RUNNING IT DOWN THE TRUNK AND GOING IN THE TAILIGHT (BAD IDEA) OR DOWN TO THE TRUNK THROUGH AN EXISTING GROMMET. I obtained double sided grommets with a tube like the factory grommet that goes up to the trunk lid. My wiring comes out through the vertical wall (I had to drill a hole of course and had the rear deck top out) in the rain channel/gutter through this grommet/tube just behind (towards the back of car) the factory on the right side and alone of course on the left drivers side. Just above/forward to where the strut bottom attaches. The wire only comes down a couple of inches then to the strut. Looks like a factory installation. Not sure why nobody else I have heard of has done this.

    If you use glass cleaner instead of WD40 to lubricate when you fish it will completely dry without leaving residue. Plus if you get it on the windows it won't be oily.

    I'm having an issue with my V6 power trunk. Sometimes it only opens 1-2 cm and closes again while the control box starts to beep.
    It seems like it thinks that the trunk hits an obsticle or the trunk is too heavy. Is there a way to increase the opening strength?
    What else could it be? I have already changed the struts two times.

    I've installed mine like you did, where i took the power from underneath the rear seat. Everything seams to work, but I get an error on the screen saying there is being drawn to much power from 12 v battery. I've tried to reset the car (two buttons and brake) I've tried charging the car. No luck. Do you have any ideas to what the problem and solution could be?

    • @tesbros
      @tesbros  29 днів тому +1

      There could be a short circuit or wiring issue causing an abnormal power draw OR the 12V battery might be weak or degraded, unable to handle the additional load.
      Troubleshooting:
      - Ensure all connections are secure and correctly installed. Verify that there are no exposed wires or potential short circuits.
      - Inspect the 12V Battery: Check the health of the 12V battery using a multimeter. A fully charged 12V battery should read around 12.6 to 12.8 volts.
      If the battery voltage is low, it might need replacement.
      - Reduce Load: Disconnect any other accessories or devices connected to the 12V system to see if the error persists. This can help identify if the power trunk alone is causing the issue.
      - Check for Tesla Software Updates: Sometimes, errors can be caused by software glitches that might be resolved in a newer update.

    • @ChristianBlond
      @ChristianBlond 29 днів тому +1

      @@tesbros it does say that the battery needs replacement. But that just came up right after installment. It also seems like it doesn't go into hibernation because the app connects very fast when I check, where normally the car has to wake up first 🤷‍♂️

    • @tesbros
      @tesbros  2 роки тому

      That’s an alignment issue. Usually due to the rubber guard. Make sure it’s all the way down. Either that it’s the stopper by the sides.
