Can you still close the hood using the app and the main screen after the latest software update? I can no longer close it in the app or on the main screen, only open it.
@@CumBrianFries I can’t close it using the Tesla app either. The button inside the front still works for closing. I can still close it on the main screen by clicking on the close on the frunk, but I can’t use a voice command from the steering wheel to close frunk. another option is to use a voice command or shortcut on your iPhone to close the frunk

This was a great video. I appreciate all the detail. A question I have is are you able to demonstrate the emergency frunk opening technique if/when the main 12V battery dies? In your video you pulled a connection the bottom right bumper recovery hole. Normally, you can pop that out and put a 12V charge on the emergency connections to allow the frunk to pop open so you can charge or boost the main 12V battery of the Tesla. With your new auto frunk opener, I'm curious as to how that all works together now.

my video using the A23 battery to open the frunk was done after the installation so it still works the same.

@@BCTeslaGuy what happens if the motorized struts fail not due to lack of power...then how to get the frunk open? Can the frunk be pushed open manually?
good Question, i would think not cause it looks like these motorized struts are worm gear actuators ? i dont know how you would open this. i read somewhere on on youtube they had to pay 700 dollars to have tesla get the frunk opened because of this sys..@@hirc2007

Best practice is to disconnect the 12v and connector under the rear seat before connecting anything. But it is not required. thanks for watching.

Bruvh great video but the price tag on the Kit is insane you can actually get a bunch of other accessories for that…..😢 if it was under 200$ like the Smart screen it might have been worth it

At 15:50 i didn't do this step. I'm not really getting my frunk hood aligned very well and I'm concerned it's because my latch position isn't right. I haven't got a clue how to address this issue.
at this point its trial and error. If it doesn't pull it down enough, move the bracket down. Do small adjustments till it closes properly. thanks for watching. Take your time and you will get it. :)
Good video, BUT, my 2023 Model 3 needs to change both upper and lower brackets, why? Installed with just the upper brackets and the frunk stops about 6 inches short.
Really?? My kit has only upper two brakets. I have 2023 m3 also.

Great video. I just placed an order for a power frunk and will follow your instructions. Two questions though:
1. I ordered the V5, will it make any difference?
2. I have a 2022 Model Y. Is the frunk setup the same as the Model 3?
I believe mine was v5. Pretty much the same. biggest difference is the strut mounts. thanks for watching
** just be aware the you can't close the frunk with the app anymore since one of the Tesla updates. You can still close using the button in the frunk and on the monitor.

still works except for the Tesla update that broke the closing from the phone app. Hopefully it gets fixed in a future update. Still can close it using the button the frunk or on the main monitor.

I installed Hashow poer Frunk it works fine recently I cannot close the frunk with my phone app, I can open with my phone app but cannot cose it. Can you tell me what's the problem, how to fix it
something changed in the Tesla Software. I have the same issue too. You can press the button in the frunk to close or use the main monitor. You can still use voice command to open but closing via voice command doesn't work now too. Sorry, I'm hoping a software update fixes it.

Does that emergency cable open the frunk if some1 pulls it randomly?
yes. They would have to know it's there.
Dennis, I installed my unit and the test worked fine but after running my wiring to there final position things when south. When I try to close it the hood comes down but does not adjust back up, it pulls down past the fully closed but does not come back up level. When I press the Frunk button on my Tesla App the Frunk will not open. The only way to release the Frunk is with the emergency cable. Help!
try adjusting the latch. It may need to be raised a bit. Let me know how it goes. thanks for watching.
@@BCTeslaGuy I’ve tried raising and lowering it. Too low and it won’t engage the hood latch to pull it down. When I raise it enough to engage the latch it sucks it down too far and I can’t release it without pulling the emergency line. I used tape so I know exactly where the OEM position is. Dang! This is frustrating. Funny none of the videos on the Power Frunk have any issue like what I am having.
Unfortunately It looks like Hansshow sent me the older version of the frunk kit for my M3 ‘22 They claim that I have the “right” one but the one that was sent to me has two wire harnesses and a different control module that Ive seen being installed in older UA-cam videos. Can you confirm that you have the latest V5 kit in your video? I appreciate it!
I checked my box and it only says 2021+ and no version. I was expecting to get one with 2 sets of cables but got this one with only 1 harness. Can't say if mine is older or newer. Sorry, maybe someone else can comment. Thanks for watching.
I BOUGHT THE 10.25 INCH DISPLAY SCREEN AND THE 7 INCH REAR DISPLAY SCREEN, THEY MISSED UP WITH MY TESLA, WIPERS WERE ON EVEN WHEN I TURNED THEM OFF, THE 7 INCH SCREEN WAS MOSTLY NONRESPONSIVE.
NOW IM TRYING TO SEND THEM BACK FOR FULL REFUND BUT THEY DO NOT RESPOND BACK SO I THINK I'M GONNA DISPUTE THE TRANSACTION FOR THAT PURCHASE.

same as before with a jumper or small 9v or 12v battery.
Im not crazy, my Tesla doesnt have that 12v battery, I need help finishing my install

I just installed mine. Everything is working except for being to close my frunk through the Tesla app. Anyone have any suggestions?
One of the last updates turned off this feature. You can close it by pushing the button in the frunk, or on the frunk icon on the main monitor. You can use voice to open but not close anymore too. It may come back on a future software update. It will something I will be testing after each update now.

That’s the only thing holding me back from purchasing
you can always get a local installer install this for you. Not that difficult. If you're in the Vancouver area, Jeff from @teslafybc would be my recommendation.
After watching ur entire video I believe I will have the ability to do that upgrade..

You can check the local Tesla facebook community and see what others think. I've had him personally install both of my Hansshow audio upgrades, and the rear trunk foot sensor. He does quality work at a fair price.
Are you planning on painting your caliper?
I'm thinking about it. I don't want to add those fake ones as they add to 'unsprung weight' which is bad. any recommendations on the paint?
I live in a condo so diy is a no. I’m asking around facebook groups who can do it for cheap.
