I have gum recession and some deep pockets. The dentist told me that I need to have all of my upper teeth extracted and replaced with implants at the cost of about $26,000. I refuse to do this. I have been using your system for 2 months and will continue to. I have noticed that my gums no longer bleed when brushing. I am also a huge believer in the body being able to heal itself.

I was recommended to have a cadaver transplant on my gums for one tooth in the front of my mouth. I started to make my own toothpaste out of coconut oil, baking soda, xylitol, stevia and peppermint essential oil. Within a year the gum grew back and my dentist thought I’d had surgery!

@@mwpahl38 I started with the recipe on Wellness Mama’s website. I tweaked it because I wanted to add xylitol and have a stronger minty taste. So it was basically coconut oil, baking soda, xylitol, stevia and essential oil. Do NOT spit this down your drain as it can eventually clog it when the coconut oil coagulates. Have fun with the recipe and experiment!

    What my ears heard:
~ Use xylitol, no liquid for an hour after use
~ Use mouth rinse that she recommends (maybe in a different video)
    ~ Stop flossing
~ Use specific toothbrushes, stimulate the gums (may be in a different video)
~ Use her mouth care system (maybe in a different video)
~ Retainers, Invisalign, and/or braces may be impacting the gum recession (take lots of photos & speak to Ortho)

    • @MsCeegee3
      @MsCeegee3 4 місяці тому

Same here- used the system- they were impressed- (i’m post-menopausal- things changed!!)
      Go to her website-
It’s very particular chemical formulas, so precisely these few options:
      First the ph neutral rinse
      Closys (mint or no- fine)
Brush GUMS (like a massage- less at gum line because that may be irritating?- and brush down over teeth) with Crest anticavity (sodium fluoride)
Rinse with listerine original or coolmint
Then ACT Anticavity fluoride rinse-mint, cinnamon or bubblegum flavors only - nothing fancier. (she’s trying to reduce the number of possible irritants in each one of these rinses. Each part of this has scientific research she bases it off of. She owns the Zellie’s xylitol mint company- she wanted to create a mint that had no other sugars in it- just xylitol. I was using them before I heard about her and her protocol.
5th step- Use xylitol throughout the day
Stimulating blood flow to the gums to help them heal (step two), and saliva is how teeth remineralize so the xylitol helps Keep the saliva flowing and keep the bacteria count down. (I was drinking so much water. I was washing away my saliva all day. Or at least sipping frequently.
But maybe just understanding how to not irritate gum tissue, and how important saliva is might be enough. Maybe you don’t need to do all this other protocol stuff? I didn’t understand why I kept getting cavities so I’m doing the whole routine just to be safe.
Make sure your nose breathing while you sleep because mouth breathing also irritates your gums . (J.Nestor book- Breath)

8 months of your complete mouth care system and I’m delighted at the results but have left the Dentist somewhat confused as to what he saw or perhaps lack of what he saw. X-rays before and after Dr Ellie’s complete mouth care system shows the success. (I wish I could share them here)
Past history of 3 month cleaning, perio involvement ,even braces at 50 to “line the teeth up” so the dentist could clean more thoroughly because I was told I would lose my teeth by the time I was 60!
Dr ELLIE you are touching the lives of so many people around the world that it would be almost impossible for you to count your success.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for my success which I am passionate about sharing and passing on to family and friends here in New Zealand.

I had deep pockets and severe gum and periodontal disease. I had 2 teeth extracted because they were virtually falling out on their own. I had a high sugar (fruit and grains) and very low fat lean meat diet, what is supposedly a healthy diet. I also had the grove from brushing whilst eating an acidic diet. The advice from my dentist was fluoride toothpaste and flossing, (both of which hadn't stopped it happening) but ultimately to have all the teeth removed! I discovered Wester A Price and a low carb diet. The moment I cut all sugars (carbs) and focused on fatty meat, my gums improved. I added Co end Q10, improved further and started oil pulling with coconut oil instead of brushing with toothpaste. Massive improvement, no more gum disease and 5 years later the X-ray showed periodontal disease had stopped.

I won't say how many years it's been since I had a recommended deep cleaning, but here's why I don't have this done: The dental assistant said the cleaning would require novocaine and then gave me a shot. It did not numb my jaw. After 4 shots, I told her I couldn't move my eye. She said that wasn't possible. After 7 shots, the dentist came out and asked what was going on. She was upset with the assistant and told her my cranial nerves were obviously in a slightly different spot. Then she gave me the 8th shot, which finally numbed my jaw. That was just for my right side. They messed up 3 times in my left side, so in total, I was given 12 shots. So, if following your program keeps me from having to relive that nightmare (and yes, I was unable to even blink my right eye), I am more than happy to do your program. Thanks for sharing your insights.

Just started using the entire system x 1 month & though early, am finding absolute improvements. The routine itself helps me just stay thoughtful & aware of a few things. I cut out late night snacks ages ago---now, I'm back in routine of 'getting ready for bed', which I'd meant to do for ages (shut off computer, etc etc)--but never quite Did. Now? I remember I enjoy disconnecting, lowering lights, listening to music---bath time & Dr Ellie's system helps with that. Even xylitol has a place that makes sense. If only I'd known 50 years ago. What I appreciate most? The lack of judgement in Dr Ellie's approach. I've been traumatized by dental staff clucking at my abject failure as a human being and citizen. Honestly, some dentists may as well have a side door to their firing squad in the driveway. I appreciate this vid about recession v infection. Dr.Ellie’s program IS working.
It took almost a year for me to really start seeing results, but I have a few things slowing progress…an extended series of Invisalign (finally moved to nightly retainers a year ago) and I’m also 47, so there might be some hormonal changes starting? I don’t know.
While on Invisalign, during the last 6 months, I noticed SIGNIFICANT gum recession and thinning…as in, gums receded more than 1/4 inch in the front 6 bottom teeth and about 1/8 inch everywhere else. Very uniform recession and thinning. The dentist deemed it to be most likely hormonal perimenopause, but to continue on with the Invisalign. It’s SO hideous. My kids got the game Speak Out, and I cringe every time they want to play.
Anyhoo, it’s been about a year since I started Dr.Ellie’s program, not properly at first, was only doing it at night, with a quick brush in the AM and go. I’m finally seeing some changes, so I’m trying to get the full AM swishes in too. Using Dr.Ellie’s mints, and the Spry ones when they’re out of stock.
I like to say I have little “gum buds” since the gum tissue seems to be growing in between my teeth faster than the front. It’s working and I’m happy!
    Thank you Dr.Ellie!

@@sweetbeep I hadn’t heard of that either until my dentist said it, but it seems like every dentist is trying to sell Invisalign nowadays. If I was trying to sell them, I would try to blame receding gums on something else too. I wouldn’t think it’s hormones as I’m still very regular…just receding gums and no other symptoms at all yet? Ya right.
All that being said, I would get Invisalign again knowing what would happen to my gums. I had crossbite and had broken two molars from grinding and clenching. My teeth looked perfect from the front but my bite was way off on the sides. I had intense neck and jaw pain everyday, it was horrible. I wore mouthguards every night since I was a kid and they didn’t help. I have had NO pain at all since Invisalign fixed my bite. It’s such a relief.

@@sweetbeep I hadn’t either. My top jaw was smaller than my bottom, so my bite wasn’t lining up properly. I had my top teeth widened side to side and my lower ones pushed in a bit on the sides.
I had the Invisalign “braces” with 26 attachments and rubber bands for 3 years, was supposed to be only 18 months. Due to 2 stubborn teeth not moving and a long office closure (thanks Covid) it was extended to 3 years.
The retainers had to be worn for 6 months full time after my attachments came off. Now I just wear them at night…for the rest of my life.
The way my dentist explained it: your teeth have a memory and they always want to go back to their original position, so if you don’t wear your night time retainers, they will start to move back.
I believe this is true, since my retainers always fit well and are comfortable, but we went over vacation for a week and I opted to not bring them. When we got back and I put them in the first night, they were uncomfortable and tight for a bit.

I went to the ER alone last night, waited until the morning but noone saw me. However they did do bloodwork and said they’d call me if the result came back as possible sepsis. They did not call. And my doctor father says it’s reactive arthrithis, caused by the gum infection. It hurts so much and I cant walk without crutches and barely then. I can’t go food shopping or anything. I got antibiotics from my father so Im on that since day one. But the swelling and pain is still there. I can’t even lift my leg. Anyway, I hopped home from the hospital this morning after buying some crutches because I don’t have a car because I walk everywhere normally.

During my last cleaning the hygienist was alarmed to see the significant gum recession since my previous cleaning 6 months ago recommending a program of deep cleaning every 3 months. Since after the visit my mouth was very sore I began researching alternative treaments to avoid the pain of "deep cleaning". I was fortunate to find Dr. Ellie's videos which educated me on the cause of my issues as well as providing a program to resolve the problem. I have been following her mouth care program for 30days and feel like my gums are healing. But because i felt 'empowered ' i decided that i would try using a cotton ball with baking soda and water paste to speed up the process of eliminating the yellow stains. I gently wiped the paste over my teeth then realized the gums on the back of my bottom teeth began bleeding. So i am no longer experimenting and will continue to follow Dr
Ellies program with more patience. I will go back to the dentist in 2 months to get an evaluation. I feel confident the dentist will see an improvement and will no longer recommend the deep cleaning. Thank you Dr. Ellie!😁

Your videos are helping me so much and I'm following your protocol. I had nearly perfect teeth but I started being more aggressive with my flossing, started my day with an entire lemon squeezed into warm water, and I started using one of those drugstore sleep guards. Thank you, Dr. Ellie Phillips! You are an angel from heaven! Your valuable information helps me a lot!
When every message says there is no cure for gum recession, I get hope from you. In fact, I am a strict teeth cleaner and I have used a soft toothbrush, an electric toothbrush, for thirty years. I basically brush my teeth after every meal, three times a day! I hardly eat snacks. I used a thread to clean my teeth every night before going to bed. However, I noticed that my gums were receding and the gaps between my teeth were increasing. There was nothing I could do about it until I saw your UA-cam 6 months ago!
From your video, I found that I only brushed teeth, but not gum early. Now I had brushed gum and teeth for six months with hard teeth brush. I see my gum is growing back! I am not bleeding in once! Thanks! Angel Dr. Ellie!
Second information I got from video, after brushing teeth, I will not drink water or eating food in one or two hours. I will wait the gum and teeth protection has grew back.
Third, after eating acid food, such as orange, don't brush teeth. Nowadays, I use Xlytol after luch, intead brushing teeth immediately. I use my saliva to let my gum grew! Thanks!
Forth, I really don't like to go to see dentist, every time in teeth cleaning, my gum was bleeding a lot, and my teeth gap was increased. Now I really determined not to go to dentist to clean my teeth. After seeing your video, I am getting confidence! According to your complete mouth cleaning system, I started to use Listerine Teeth and Gum after brushing teeth. Early, I did have a attitude against all chemials. However, if it saves my gum and teeth, why not use it?
I live in Finland, I still have problem to get all the product you suggested in your complete mouth cleaning system. However, I see my gum is grewing back! Thanks indeed!

I’m religious about using xylitol now after eating/drinking. I don’t sip on drinks in between meals anymore. I use a stimulator to floss instead of traditional floss. I use a childs toothbrush. I got cavity in my wisdom tooth and thinking about following her system, though except for listering other products are not available in India. Trying to find products to match hers. I wanted to know if braces result in cavities and stumbled upon these videos on gum recession and bone loss after braces. And I'm like wth. The first dentist had already extracted 2 upper and 2 lower teeth and after changing dentist I was told it was not required to extract 2 lower ones. Can't believeit, it must be mandatory for docs to be updated. Saw some conventional treatments as well like LANAP laser treatment to regrow bone lost to gum disease around tooth. Red light laser pointer treatment (unconventional). Thank god I found Orthotropics channel very early on it helped me understand the importance of a big jaw and consequences of eating soft food. It did improve the shape of my face and size as well.

I have been told by my dentist that I either grind or clench my teeth when I sleep. I believe that I possibly clench them but I’m not sure. I wear a retainer at night because about 15 or 16 years ago, my then dentist finally convinced me to get a night guard at his office. It cost me approximately $350. I should mention that my teeth were beyond beautiful at that time. I only had a couple of areas on my upper teeth where I had mistakenly brushed when I was a teen with a tooth brush that had hard bristles without knowing that this could hurt my gums and had therefore two spots near my canines that had a bit of gum recession. My teeth were perfectly aligned, white and very healthy. Dentists would tell me what pretty teeth I had. Being in the military we moved often so I u fortunately ended up seeing this dentist who convinced me to get a night guard from him. The strange thing is that he made this guard that pushed my bottom jaw out and it forced me to basically sleep with my lower jaw protruding and in order to swallow my tounge would push my upper teeth forward. I hope that you know what I’m talking about because it resembled a torture device. I followed his instructions and wore this thing for 8 months. When I returned for a cleaning 6 months later I began to notice that my teeth were no longer aligning properly. So at the cleaning he filed some of the bottom of my teeth so that they would not hit the tops and bottoms of each other when I closed my mouth or chewed something. This happened a couple of times I went to see him because the teeth kept hitting each other as my tounge kept moving my upper front teeth as I wore this strange retainer that had metal that held the upper and lower teeth in the strange position. So he then told me that he could put braces on me to put my teeth back in place as I was basically developing an open mouth. I thought that he out this apparatus that created an open bite in my mouth by having my tounge push the upper teeth out while I slept and swallowed. Now he wanted to charge me for braces to correct the problem. So I got another dentist after I spoke to an attorney while I considered suing him for what he had done. So I went to the dentist this attorney told me (over the phone) as I never met him in person. He said that this dentist was an ethical dentist. I saw him and he told me that he believed that it would be hard to prove and he recommended that I go to this very expensive orthodontist. I saw the expensive orthodontist and he recommended that I get these “sure smile” I believe they were braces. These were the metal braces that worked with a computer. I asked him why such drastic braces if the damage was done over the 8 months that I wore that strange night guard. I asked if Invisalign wouldn’t be better. He insisted that I go with the Sure smile ones I believed they were called. The difference in price was 7K for the Invisalign and 10K for the metal braces which is why no doubt he insisted that they be the metal ones. He wanted to remove molars and I said No so he didn’t. He just moved my teeth like crazy to correct the problem of the open bite. I wore the braces for about a year and a half as I recall. My teeth felt like rubber teeth when he removed the braces. My teeth prior to this were tight so tight that I had a hard time flossing ny teeth without tearing dental floss before. So since then I have worn the retainers every night for the last 14 years. The dentist that recommended I go to this orthodontist left his practice (retired I think) and a younger dentist took over. I like this new dentist who is extremely professional and I have grown to trust him. Unfortunately over the last 5 years or so that he has been my new dentist my gums have been receding even though I have done everything he has recommended. Since the retainers came off my teeth were brought down so food would get cought at the top of them so I always flossed and I always carried the de tal picks to remove any food particle that would get there. I used to use a water pick, I used baking soda, used the listerine mouthwash with fluoride, applied the Sensodine toothpaste to my gums under the retainer at night to help with the sensitivity that I grow get. I used to use an electric toothbrush but it hurt too much so I would use the very soft Colgate toothbrushes. Recently, maybe two months ago I found an electric toothbrush called Burst that is for people with sensitive gums. I found that I was still accumulating more tartar but with this last new electric toothbrush it had improved. At my two lower molars the dentist noticed substantial receding gums and that I had a pocket. There was some bleeding noticed which really surprised me. I began to notice that my gums had receded everywhere now. I have just discovered you in UA-cam and I am so glad. I got your two books today and I have been slowly educating myself by watching your videos. I got your gum, the xylitol sweeter, different toothpastes, probiotic lozenges and yesterday I ordered the rest of the items you recommended on Amazon. I had ordered different toothpastes the ones that are very expensive (before I knew which ones you recommended) but I was still happy with the amazing way they made my teeth feel really clean and smooth. My dentist scheduled me to see a periodontal specialist in two weeks to evaluate me by him even though he does not think that I need to have the procedure just yet. So far I have taken very good care of my teeth and even though I have gum recession basically everywhere now he thought that it would be wise to see what he recommended for the near future I supposed. To be honest I may just cancel that appointment with him but since it is just an evaluation I may keep it. But for sure I won’t agree to have the skin grafting of my gums now that I have discovered you. My dilemma is in hearing you mention in this video that wearing the retainers may make the program not work. Should I stop wearing my retainers at night? My dentist said that he can see that I clench my teeth at night. He noticed a developing fracture (superficial) in my right last lower molar and recommended that I get a crown to prevent it from fracturing all the way since that would require a root canal or implant. I am already implementing what you recommend. I am hoping that my gums will improve as I follow your plan. Please let me know what I can do regarding the dilemma of wearing the retainer at night. Don’t have malocclusion in other words I have proper teeth alignment. I fear that my teeth might move even though they are not moving they are firm. My gums don’t look inflamed or bleed they are just going down more and more which make me think that they are becoming separated from my teeth more and more. Please let me know what you recommend. This is very depressing. I am now 60 and like you my mother who had 6 kids had all of her teeth removed by her dentist due to ignorance. Back then or at least in my mothers case they were told that a woman would loose a tooth with every pregnancy. My father no doubt encouraged this. But he never lost a tooth. My mother had a beautiful smile. As she aged my father had the rest of her teeth removed which made no sense. He did have all of his kids get proper dental care from early childhood. Please respond to me with your recommendations when you have a chance. We are all blessed to have found you! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with us all!
I have all of my teeth.

I was hopeful my gums recession would reverse but after hearing your testimony I realize this won’t happen, it’s been too many years. However I think like you my teeth are okay and the gums are tight around the line they are at. Thank you again!

I wasn't using flouride much and no mouth rinses due to being told they wipe out good bacteria. Plus for 4 months basically quit all sugar & carbs (leakygut) & looks like candida is happening too. If you're suggesting that you might be suffering from IBS from the leaky gut, then be very careful and maybe even omit the xylitol. I have IBS and it went into overdrive from the xylitol gum/mints/rinses/toothpaste. Xylitol has a laxative effect.

I have noticed that plaque just doesn't build up, especially where i have a permanent retainer on the bottom, that will usually get plaque at some point after my cleanings, and it has had nothing since starting Dr Ellie's program.

17:20 the goal of orthodontic treatment is to get teeth aligned in the proper arch form. If you’re experiencing “recession from Invisalign” it’s possible either you’re doing online braces and not getting monitored properly by an orthodontist, or the specialist isn’t great. But this doesn’t mean “don’t get your teeth straightened”
I’ve worked with patients with severe crowding and gum disease because they couldn’t properly clean the crowded teeth, and yes after straightening the teeth they developed recession in certain areas, but not because of Invisalign; rather because the Invisalign exposed hidden problems that we were then able to address. Please take everything you hear with a grain of salt.

    • @dr.elliephillips
      @dr.elliephillips  3 місяці тому

Do you know that if people complain to invisalign about recession or mobility issues - they often settle out of court and get their money back, but with an agreement they will not share their negative experiences?
This means we do not hear about the bad cases.
As an RDH have you noticed recession associated with retainers personally?
I had no idea until last year when I began to ask more questions about recession and discovered this was more prevalent than could be random.

      @askahygienist 3 місяці тому +1

@@dr.elliephillips I don't know, Dr. Ellie, I personally have been wearing retainers for years now and I haven't noticed any recession. Any recession I see on patients is clearly associated with either poor alignment (haven't had braces), bad oral hygiene (plaque building up at sites of recession, clenching and grinding, or things like attached frenum and/or thin tissue type, as well as fenestration of canines. What is it about retainers that you think would logically cause recession? the plastic material? In that case, there are microplastics in a lot of toothpastes, so we could blame toothpaste..
You are telling people to stop brushing teeth (brush gums instead), stop flossing, stop getting cleanings, but I feel it's misleading; even if your system works, a lot of people have a very bad oral health situation to begin with and need to get on track with a good dental cleaning first. You mention in passing that "if you have some serious problems, maybe get a dental cleaning, but then avoid cleanings in the future and use my complete system instead" I think at least that needs to be made very clear that people can't just jump in to your recommended routine...
I don't have dental issues but I will probably try your system to have my own proof, but so far I feel like your recommendations are misleading at best. The problem also with a lot of the positive testimonies is the general public doesn't always understand what a "healthy mouth" looks like. periodontal disease, as you know, is a silent process, and if people see "cleaner teeth" on the surface or their tooth pain has subsided using your system, that is not necessarily an indication of optimal oral health. I'd love to see a thorough case study video following one patient's journey with your system, or even some photos and x-rays of your own teeth.
I don't mean to be rude, I'm all for helping people avoid dental costs and oral health problems, but all your teaching is seriously going against everything I know to be true, so please understand my skepticism. Millions of people are watching your information and I want to make sure it's not harmful. Thanks for replying.

@@dr.elliephillips I understand that a lot of people have dental issues, but also, a lot of people don’t take care of their teeth properly. Most don’t brush correctly and even more don’t even bother to floss. Diet and lifestyle are also a mess. I personally don’t have any dental issues, not following your system. I’ve had bad teeth in the past, so it’s not like I’m genetically lucky, I just take good care of my teeth using traditional methods (brushing and flossing properly, consistently) and maintain good diet and lifestyle choices. I’m willing to try your system and see if I could truly avoid flossing and brushing my actual teeth and see it benefit oral health, but until then, I can’t recommend your teaching. Do you have any third party dentists/hygienists seeing benefits of your system on their patients or even their own teeth?

My gums got to the stage where they were pouring with blood, like a nose bleed when brushing my teeth. They also receded quite a bit.
Two months ago I decided to change from my electric toothbrush, to a Extra Soft Criss Cross Bristle toothbrush...and wow, the bleeding is virtually non existent, when I use mouth wash after brushing there's no particles....the need for flossing has decreased. My gums are now regrowing, which I found strange, because I read they couldn't regrow.
So I brush 2 or 3 times a day, and Mouthwash morning and night.
I also rinse my mouth with plain clear water after certain food and drinks.
Seems to have worked for me 🤷‍♀️
....but I'll definitely give these systems a go too.

Yes, xylitol is a pre-biotic and helps improve the microbiome of the mouth and gut.

In my country I don't find Crest nor Act but I'm using the other products and xylitol

If you are using Listerine without using Crest (or an equivalent sodium flouride toothpaste) and Act (or an equivalent sodium flouride rinse) the Listerine will worsen your sensitivity. If you brush after Listerine you will erode your teeth. You can buy the products online and import them to your country.

I recently tried this, but I think I purchased an inferior brand of Xylitol. Some people said you can use Xylitol as a sweetener, so I used it in my oatmeal and tea one day. That night I had severe diarrhea. This is the xylitol that made me ill: microingredients Xylitol Granules From Natural Birch. I am not usually sensitive to different foods. I don't have allergies. So, I was surprised when I got ill from what seemed like a natural food. I wasn't sure if it was the Xylitol that made me ill, so I waited a few days before trying a little again in my tea. That night I had some diarrhea again. When I try a different brand of Xylitol, I will first try just using it as a mouth rinse. I see the very good experiences from the comments below.
