- Each summer, Chapel Hill, NC based Community Chorus Project runs a week-long recording workshop for high-school singers admitted after an audition process. Summer 2019, our singers recorded civil rights anthem, “A Change Is Gonna Come,” by Sam Cooke at UNC, Chapel Hill. Soloists are Reyna Alston and Chelsea Rose with piano accompaniment by Kellen Moss. NYC based singer and voice teacher, Marianne Cheng, directs the program and conducts the chorus. Colin Egan arranged, recorded and mixed the song, and serves as assistant director for the workshop. In addition to accompanying the chorus on piano, Durham School of the Arts chorus teacher, Kellen Moss, also serves as a chorus teacher for the Summer Recording Workshop. The video was shot and directed by Zach Stamey of Focus Media. Community Chorus Project, founded by Lauren Bromley Hodge, offers the Summer Recording Workshop each year for talented young singers in collaberation with the Department of Music at UNC, Chapel Hill. This is a song that has perfect written all over it. The composition, Mr. Cooke's performance, the timing of it's release and, now, these youngsters showing the respect it deserves.

That wasn’t fire-that was hot lava flowing all the way down the mountainside, slowly consuming you and all in its path til you've no choice but to succumb and let it melt your heart as well as your face. Incredible singing from everyone! And the conductor waved her arms about like she was performing sorcery. Knockout performance all around.

@@laurenhodge3563 I believe PBS should do a program with Marianne and these kids. This is very special. I was a performing musician in High School and a singer/songwriter for many years. These students will always be proud of this work and maybe some of them will have careers in the music business! I'm a FAN!
