Sam Cooke!! In my opinion is the greatest singer that has ever breathed into a microphone. You will never see another talent like that again.....I encourage you to listen to his gospel recordings.....they are truly something.
to see how successful it was and how meaningful it has become. To be connected to the Civil Rights Movement is a great honour and it is a tragedy that Sam was taken so young and in such senseless awful way. Mysterious circumstances for sure. No trial for his killers and no justice for Sam Cooke. Love you always Sam and thank you for your beautiful music. xoxo
I can’t stop listening to this song..love it soooo much..So powerful especially during these painful times. RIP Sam Cooke a young beautiful talented man taken so soon.
You are so correct. This song has always made an positive impression on me since the very first time I heard it. I was only ten years old at the time. (and I am white) It brings tears to my eyes, now that I am 63 years old. We still need MUCH change.
Melenated and white alike we have to grow up in a mutual unification for illumination. In this act dispersing both: the blinding light of supremacy; and enveloping shades of terror.
Now i know why i can't find him performing it. Cuz he never did. Only recorded it. Damn shame. Its almost like he came here just to do that masterpiece and his work here was finished thereafter.
He did perform it on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. However it was recorded over because back then, NBC recorded over shows so it was lost. When Carson found out NBC was doing this, he put a stop to it. Also Cooke apparently didn't sing the song live much after because the orchestrations were complex.
That song by Sam a change gonna Come is the National anthem of the brown people.A Change Gonna Come .still makes one Soul.yers.for better days. Thank you Mr.Sam Cooke.
Sam's voice caught my attention 7 years ago. I was listening to a radio station that played his song Another Saturday Night. I researched the singer and realized I love every song this man sang. I wasn't born til 1972 but it feels as though I was there in his day and time. Now he is on my daily song playlist.
Such an important song, with a great melody, great harmony, and great lyrics- it’s kind of a miracle they they all swirled together SO well! Literally one of the best songs ever.
I was 4 years old when this song came out and I remember my mother and I'm used to play it a lot it was a sad song but As I Grew Older I began to realize what the song was all about Sam Cooke like Malcolm X they knew they was going to die once they realize that they were standing alone in the room with nothing but a bunch of f****** Cutthroats and snakes that look just like them and believe me that's hard living to just know that you're the only one that really cares if you going to talk about Sam Cooke talk about how his body was badly beaten up in that casket
It was performed by Cooke only once on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson, regrettably the tape of Cooke’s Tonight Show performance did not survive. How could this happened ? I'm mad.
@@Julien-DM It was taped over. In the old days on the Tonight Show shows were taped over, so a lot of classic moments were lost. When Carson found out NBC was doing this, he put a stop to it, although it was too late for Cooke's performance.
🦅🦉🦅 Man-O-Man ... Song brings tears 2 my eyes today as it did when it was sung the first time I heard it, way back in the day. It should be clarified that the single version of the song wasn’t released until two weeks after his death. He had actually performed it on the Johnny Carson Show many months before he died and the song was included on his album Ain’t That Good News which was released months before his death.
I was one years old when he was murdered. I was thirty years old when I starting buying his records. I’m almost sixty years old and I still shed “White tears” for him.

The DEFINITION OF A MASTERPIECE...THE PERFORMANCE OF THE GREAT SAM COOKE IS BREATH TAKING...REST IN HEAVEN
He sang gospel before he sang pop and the Black Church was always a major force in Black liberation. Sam Cooke went back to his roots here.
Here because of one night in Miami
This is one of those "goosebump" songs and Sam Cooke's incredible voice made it absolutely perfect.

Sam Cooke the best in the 60s, Marvin Gaye the best in the 70s, Luther Vandross the best in the 80s and R Kelly the best in the 90s.
I just wonder whose getting the Royalties off this song?
Hopefully his children.
