Amazing what a few years can do for video formats like this. 7 years ago, I tried making films like this. Canvased PALH for a few weeks and couldn't find one pilot that wanted a video tribute to their aircraft and lifestyle. It's like they were afraid the FAA would arrest them. Now, these formats are common, and I love it! Great work!
Thanks . Iam 82 and live in Idaho and learned to fly years ago and jearned to fly the back country and also lived tn Alaska . was blessed with owning a few planes 1st 172 then a 182 -and a 180 and a185 then a 206 and my last one was a old 180 I loved to fly it and it never gave me any trouble . This man is perty smart he knows what is going on and I bet he is a good man and safe pilot . I would love to fly again may God bless him sorry for my spelling getting old ..
Nicely done Will, miss all of you! Can’t wait to have your family and airplane back here in Missouri. Seeing all the finished detailed work is impressive.
And don’t forget that the adventures you have in it are just as epic as a 180. They might be different, but just as great. Enjoy what you can do with what you have.
If you like the Cessna 180/185, the check out the Bushliner Cyclone 1850. If you’re going to retrofit avionics in your 180, check out their NextGen panel+frame system.
@AirplanesInTheWild they were at Oshkosh last 2 years. They are at Green Valley Airfield in Granite Falls Washington. They are beautiful planes, the brand new modern SUV of the sky.
Gorgeous 180. Thanks for sharing! I own and fly a 1955 180 out of PAMR. It too has had several mods over the years and is currently getting a panel upgrade. These airplanes are worth the time and money we put into them.
Another very well done episode! Love this 180. Will has that one set up really nice. I'm going to feature your channel in a community post on ours. A lot of RC pilots love bush flying. (we do some cool RC bush flying vids too, lol)
Nice Video, Very Informative. I have a 75’ 180 that has been in the family since new. My father flew it until he was 85. He just turned 90 and still comes with me. I soloed in it in 1976. It has most of the mods yours has. You are in for a lifetime memories with your “Girls”. One thing? How do you get “6.5 hours flying plus 1 hour reserve out of 80 gallons”? That is some endurance! LOP?
2300rpm, 21”mp, pull the red knob back until it’s slightly rough, then in to smooth. Six cylinder engine monitor is vital. 10.5gph. Of course if you land and take off a few times, it would be less than that slightly.
This is an absolutely beautiful aircraft. Impressive to say the least. We currently own a 180 and are in the process of upgrading. I would really appreciate the opportunity to exchange information with you particularly regarding the interior plastic and headliner. I am unsure as to how to further our communication and would appreciate any help you could provide. Thanks
Beautiful plane. But I’m not sure I agree it’s not capable of super cub stuff. Stripped down and light on fuel, a stock 180 at sea level is mighty bushworthy.

Dude that’s hilarious. I too have a hard time finding subjects. So far they have all been customers so I have an inside edge.

2:56 Did exactly the same wing mods on my 172 - love the combo of mods.
These videos are awesome!
Thanks Chris
Love this Beast!!! There’s nothing like it to have a heavy hauler for family and few things in the Belly Pod
Love this plane... Seats are smokin beautiful
Thanks
That was incredibly informative; I thought I caught an episode of skywagons university.
Totally. It’s nice to see someone who knows their plane.

Tom, Thanks for commenting. I will pass this along to Will in case he doesn’t see it here
My Dream airplane! Currently 26 and bought a C150 to build my flight time in. But I will own a C180 like this one day!
Nice Trevor a 150 is perfect for time building

@@AKFamilywagon totally agree. especially when you pay the fuel bill.
I’ve gotten to fly one for about 12 hours it was fun I wish I could fly one again some day , nice 180 ,,
Enjoyed the detail and time Will took describing his 180.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Agree that the flap gap seals don’t reduce STOL performance.
I feel the same. MAYBE they SLIGHTLY degrade the slow performance….maybe. But the benefit you gain in cruise is huge.

Where could we see one of those in person?

Nice Will, met you at the shooting strip in the AM last week.....

A beautiful airplane what a legacy she will be ! Thank you for sharing in this excellent video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The fuel pump ‘smile’ on the lower cowl is the easy 185 tell tale.
Nice job Will! Put the Wing-X on mine at last annual and am still learning all that it brings to the table.
Great story, very well told. Beautiful plane. Great editing. Love it!
Glad you enjoyed it
fantastic, what a perfect plane for the Alaskan family
Very nice upgrades on your ride. Thx
Thanks! 👍
Such a great paint scheme! Ours has the same scheme, it’s only missing the leading edge paint.

Thank you. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. We are new to all this

@@AirplanesInTheWild How are his 31" wearing? Does he land on pavement?

Super cool history with yours. I think that’s awesome. I’d love to see your plane.

I could put you in touch with Will. He is the owner of the aircraft
I’d also like to know about the ceiling foam and headliner
Nice vid…nice airplane👍🏻
Thanks you

Depends on how you define super cub stuff. The cub gear allows for some pretty rough landing areas that would tear up the 180 gear box
I think he does downplay the capabilities of his plane though. He’s a humble guy
