    I had the opportunity to meet Isaac and fly with him about 2 weeks ago. He took my fiancee and me up into the Talkeetna mountains and landed near the Chickaloon Glacier. The amount of skill and knowledge Isaac has is truly amazing. We flew in the M7 that Isaac has flown for a number of years, and that is an extremely capable airplane. I can only imagine what the green M7 can do being that much lighter.

    Very very cool. My dad was the last deputy marshall in Nome and Kotzebue area when I was little. He had some hair raising tales of flights on bush planes with pilots landing on pack ice. Statehood came and he lost his job to state police.
    Thanks for the memories.

    I've got an MT on my experimental maule. It's been a great prop. And we're at 300hp, which is nice out of short strips!

    Man, the production value of your videos is amazing. The music, the angles, the editing are top notch. Keep them coming please. One request would be for videos of off airport techniques where you combine your interviews with actual demonstrations of how these guys approach and land on these short strips. You can only learn so much from just a discussion.

    You're a man after my heart, Isaac. That easy smile as you're telling your story says it all, you love what you're doing. I have a Maule that's even lighter than yours, 114 grammes, 51 cm wingspan Kootai RC model, it's so cool. You have to get yourself one, they're really cheap. I flew it today on a nearby hill in Japan. Ah so! Great fun! Great to see the real thing though. Happy landings, bro!

    Amazing airplane! This is the best channel on U-Tube! Love the technical info on the airplanes. Please show as much "in depth behind the scenes" on the builds as possible. I want a bird that's proven and capable like a custom Maule or Cub but could never afford one. But I am capable of building one! These tips from the "real" backcountry pilots are invaluable in my opinion. Anyway, thank you for the videos and hurry up and make more! Lol.

    Also, keep building your seats. I will be contacting you soon about ordering new seats for my ‘56 Pacer.

    Wow, congrats to a great looking and obviously great flying aircraft! Amazing that you can go 127 mph in cruise without any fairings and big feet. What's your fuel burn at this speed? my short wing MX7 with the same motor, fairings and 8.5s will drink 12 gph LOP going fast.
    Really nice Video! Cheers from Germany

    so the takeoff distance, can one make it much shorter by having an electric motor with a lot of power and then have a cruise combustion engine? or a series hybrid with or just a small battery for takeoff boost. 10 x the power for 5 seconds or whatever

    • @AirplanesInTheWild
      @AirplanesInTheWild  Місяць тому

      Having more power doesn’t help much with landing and adding weight is a detriment.

      Weight makes a difference in flight characteristics and also payload capability/range. Electric needs batteries, batteries = lots of weight.

    now that would be a nice camper van ,on floats , are we allowed an idea of price ,stall speed,and fuel [ though 1000 mi and 90 gal would indicate under 11 GPH to have a safety factor ,just heard the chinese are shaking things up with a claimed 60% actual thermal efficiency motor for hybrid use ,that is even better than F1 cars are getting ].

      I have a STOL 750 and we Zenith flyers have an old saying about the looks: "It's so ugly that the earth repels it and that's why it can fly so low and so slow!" :)
