@@nordicants6232 Yeah man, I gotta get shredded.
Its 5 am in India and i am watching this while my parents sleep.Totally worth it.Could you try adding centipedes? But they may attack the frog. Thanks anyways.Much appreciated.
It's 2 am in Germany
I have some smaller centipedes inside already but they never show up for the camera! :D but you would like a big one right? Thanks for watching during that time!! Really
Centipedes are great for terrariums like this!

The whole place is looking amazing...and I love the frog. Those snails really have some attitude going on, I guess natural armour helps. The weaver ants are gorgeous, and I hope they settle in and colonize well. The golden ones will likely be more confident once the colony has attained some size. I find this vivarium quite breathtaking at times, and you capture personalities brilliantly with those occasional voice responses. Great work as usual, thanks again...I can’t fathom why you don’t have tons more followers, you certainly deserve them.🖤🇨🇦
Thank you once again so much!!! Have a fANTastic day :D really love the support
Nordic Ants you are truly among my top five channels on UA-cam, seriously. I think you inspire people to get more interested in the fauna of Nature they might otherwise just think of as gross or a nuisance. Being able to watch the interactions and interdependence of so many diverse creatures in action is both enlightening and very enjoyable. I find you quite unique among the makers of terrariums and ant habitats because you are engaged in a study of the diversity of life that inhabits every part of our Earth and Her soil. You have a great sense of humour, and it is clear that you are learning things right along with your viewers. Please keep doing what you do so very well...in these days of politics and so many other daily trials faced by people all over the world you are a breath of fresh air. As soon as I am able I would like to put you on my Patreon list, which at the moment has only three content providers...you will definitely be the fourth. With love from Canada...🖤🇨🇦
I am fairly sure you are the first person to ever make such an accomplishment.
People from around the world would be in shock and awe at what you have done here, i know i am.
Wow! Thank you so much for the nice comment :D
@@nordicants6232 No word of a lie, you are making amazingly important discoveries that will impact the future of researching ants for decades to come :)
Add a hamster, a dog, two pigeons, a dozen toads and one new born baby! please they'll complete your set up
Why not some horses and a dolphin while we are at it?
@@nordicants6232 or maybe some T-rexes and aliens?
Why not godzilla itself
Best enclosure of all youtube.
The snail eaters aren't really slugs :)
Thanks man! Well yeah ik feels kinda bad saying that now that i think about it
@@nordicants6232 I wouldn't worry about it. it looks like a slug, and it is a predator. It is a species of planarian, called a land planarian. fun fact, if you cut it in half, it will grow two. it eats decaying plants and mites.
This chanel is getting more and more quality. The audio of your voice was a bit off on the beginning but damn I'm always looking forward to this!
Thank you so so much! I really struggle with the audio... was it too loud in the beginning?
Love your videos. Keep it up, what an amazing setup.
This is by far my favourite vivarium! Keep it up man!
This is honestly the most impressive vivarium on UA-cam.
Thank you!!

Not actually a vivarium but a paludarium

Same here, absolutely love your videos, keep up the great work, so enjoyable!!!
Thank you so much :D
is good series
How do you get the animals to not eradicate each other like that? :0
They behave just like in nature :D i only need to give the space and habitat
@@nordicants6232 do the different ant colonies not try to attack and destroy each other, or are they just like 2 small to do it, I'm guessing that
@@itstriplem2069 im assuming they are just pretty passive and have enough space for their own colonies

So calming
Nice Video Man
Thank you sm!
Firstly, I'd like to say the depth and intricacy of your vivarium absolutely fascinates me. You have an amazing balance of detritivores, prey, and predator species. This build is the most true to nature that I've seen. You said its a two meter tank, so that equates to a 648 liter tank correct? What were some problems that came about that you weren't planning for? Did anything good happen that you didn't expect either? I hope you post more videos of your builds, and the process in which you build them. You're an amazingly talented artist and bio-keeper. I am forever subscribed. Thanks for doing what you do, and sharing it with all of us.
love your videos bro
Thank you soso much! :D
I just want to say that i really enjoy your videos! I am so amazed by the experiment of building a selfregulating ecosystem! Cant wait for the next update
Lots of love
Your commentary spices it up. Nice one.
Thanks man! ;D
this is the most amazing vivarium ive ever seen. theres so much greenery the bonsai trees look amazing and theres so much diversity. i cant wait to see more updates
Thank you so much! :D
also love the little skitts hahahaha
Cool video
I love the vivarium! Keep it up!
I'm always looking forward to your videos. I would love it if they were just a tad longer though... Great job anyway with the vivarium, keep them coming :)
Thank you so much! Yes i wish so too but my time is restricted by school :(
yay snails!!
Great idea man, love the tank.
Thanks man!
Wow cool video
It’s so cool to see things like these. I feel like the Snails act as African Vultures for your vivarium, being the most prolific scavenger you have in there. Super amazing and I would love an update on how this terrarium is now.
Amazing vivarium, amazing ants and other inhabitants
Woah that cool!
amazing!
Yes, this upload notification brings tears of joy!
Awwww thank youuu! :,)
Great video I’ve been thinking of starting my own channel and I was wandering what camera do you use or what would be a good camera for a starter to use?
Good video
Perfekt Video
yeh a New video!!!
I have one question, how did you protect the vivarium so that nothing escaped you?
Things can escape out into my garden if it wants to! :D but they all stay
You know any waterproof way to protect the vivarium from escaping ants?
@@fe1n563 same
vaseline works well for that
Yes, but will not Vaseline dissolve by the water on the glass?
Dope!!!!!
Amazing!! What do you use for a lid for these vivariums? I would think it would be so difficult to keep all these organisms contained!!
A new video already?! this is amazing! (Also I guess I was semi right with suggesting a salamander, it may not be the classic slimy lizards but hey, its a frog. Good enough for me)
Hehehehe just semi-disappointed ;) thank you so much!! :D
Hi,
Your videos are amazing.
Do you water the entire vivarium by yourself?
How often, what do you use to water it?
hello Nordic Ants i was wondering i wanted to make a vivarium like this for my ants what plants ,animals and or insects are in your 2 meter long vivarium
Is the new species Camponotus mus? They do look like it and its an interesting species aswell. My C. mus are doing great
Not sure! :D thats great
very cool you really do deserve more subs also it would be really cool if you were able to somehow get a woodlouse spider and cannibal snails
God damn those are some fast snails!
What lights do you use for your vivarium
That weaver queen ❤
Playing God, in the right way! I love how you balanced this so well!
Thank you!!
Lmao, love your into
Jeez that snail drowning in its food the air bubbles that was sav
Hey, reaaalllyy nice Vivarium and prob a lot of work behind the cam for this video. The only thing, that urks me out is the Voice quality. pls update your mic! It would be so much more nicer to watch long videos like this with a smooth sound of your voice 🖤
Hay so I commented a few weeks ago that I was going to make a desert version of this so i have the plants coverd aka desert weeds and some cheap cactie and I need to find some spring tails for it and what should i add first beside earth worms to it and i can't find any sand type ants beside black pavment ants but they all died all of sudden no parasites not over watering them not under watering them to and feed them a single cricket every few days and the container they where in was the correct size
Also may i ask, what species are those tiny spiral snails? I have some myself i caught but can't figure out whhat species they are.
cool!
Id love to know all the bugs and amphibians etc. In ur cage! U should make a vid on explaining them and there species etc. This is such an amazing vivarium! 😮😯
Your videos are awesome and inspiring! I really want to make one, but i'm thinking or starting small with, say, a red-backed salamander. I wish you the best of luck with your rattle ants and frog!
Thank you sm!
I have a bit of a problem which you may be able to help me solve.I capture camponotus queens during flight and manage to raise them to the nanitics. But for some reason they refuse food completely and die off within a month. They rarely accept honey. Please help.
Hmmm, the most probable cause i can think of is that you arent allowing the colony to hibernate! Then they evidently dont want any food until spring, and they also need no stress at all during that period. Secondly they might require special foods(maybe nectar) or habitat(woody nest)
axl dlima Hey man do you have any Harpegnathos Saltator?
@@nordicants6232 i have tried woody nest made of bamboo .also in India ants do not hibernate .I have tried boiled egg,,egg yolk, roaches mealworms{both live and dead} and honey and sugar water. They have only accepted honey and slowly perished,
I love your vids but I wish you could post more often
how do you deal with the flies, having the roof off?
How did u get all those different varieties
So awesome! Love frogs! Aren't you worried he will escape? I remember in comments of a previous video that you said it was open top?
Yes! I leave him the possibility to jump out, but i think he will stay :D he has really made himself at home. Thank you so much for the comment!
@@nordicants6232 Thanks for the reply! Haha. It seems like an all you can eat paradise for him, so I hope he stays too!
what are your levels? humidity? temperature? i would like to try something like this. what should all my levels be? thank you
I want to see more jumping spiders plus videos of the predators. Plus maybe one more frog
Lots of requests! Will do my best
Hey @Nordic Ants! Love the videos, best vivarium on YT if there had to be a competition. I'm a biologist and have done a decent amount of flatworm research before, been itching to have a reason to do more in my spare time though. There's a lot to learn about them but not a lot of interest. If you've got any science heavy questions you'd like answered I can look into them for you, I've got access to basically all the journals. If you made the right kind of observations then it would not be impossible to imagine you could write an observational paper on it. I'd love to help if you'd have it.
Amazing! Email me at nordic.ants@gmail.com :D would be awesome thank you so much
You should put some honey pot ants or a rubber ducky isopod
What camera are you using
Could you add some triops (tadpole shrimp) into the vivarium?
Yes! Will happend sometime in the future
@@nordicants6232 awesome, I use to have some when I was little. I have eggs for some now just haven't gotten around to hatching them yet. They are cool little critters.
Wish i had space for such an ecosystem
Snails are cute when they are eating
I follow your Channel a bit through and through but i'm just wondering if the mold and not so clean water really is suitable for the frog which requires water to live.
Would love to know how you manage, clean, feed, water the vivarium. In simple how you do the maintenance of the vivarium not just follow the wonderful creatures who inhabit the zone😊 godbless Marcus
Sure! Its not much really... like having a garden ;) hahaha and yes. The water is changed every three four days :D
Where do you get your flatworms? ive been wanting to add one to my vivarium for some time.
They all come with the flowers! I havent even added the hammerhead one...
Cool
how? I thought a new video would be in a month or two, but here it will be a week! you raised my mood for the day!
3:52 Duckweed looks very good and cleans water well. and 4:05 here the vivarium does not look beautiful - to plant moss here and it will be beautiful. Argentine ants and dinosaur ants out of the vivarium forever? show termites please. add isopods and plant for example reed to strengthen the land near the lake (why am I writing this again?) and feed the white scavengers why not?
Love these comments!!! And you know what? That area you are talking about already has moss atm!! It was barren because of some changes i made but i covered it withh moss one month ago :D great minds think alike ;) and yes the dinos and hopefully the argentines are out! And a termite update should come :D
Wow he has 14k subs. In only have 82.
I really wanna try something like this a vivarium based of my local area
I really want you to share it with me if you do!!
What exactly IS a vivarium? And how do you make one?
How do you manage to keep the water clean, because when animals die in the water, or use the bathroom, it releases ammonium which is poisonous
So is this an open terrarium that you keep outside? I strongly want to make a natural terrarium like this of my own! Like is this outside on your patio under an awning so it doesn't get over watered by rain? Thanks for any tips! I love this terrarium so much!
Its outside on my balcony! And theres a roof so it doesnt rain inside :-) a cool tip is to have the light on over it during evenings so that bugs fly in!!
How do you know what should be stocked in an ecologically balanced setup like this? And how much?
Oh my i cant explain, this one is so complex i just planted some trees and animals just popped up! But when i introduce an animal individually i make sure it has what it needs :D
How awesome are my God's creations!
I would like to see more ants in that video.
What I watch in my free time
can u soon make a video explaining how u make such a biodiversity happen without the Ecosystem collapsing
Might make another big viv in the future yes!
@@nordicants6232 sry i had some typoo in there but nice ill be waiting keep up the good work ,best on yt right know
The trick is to keep movement within the habitat. If you let things stagnate and stay the same for too long species out compete others and it results in a loss of biodiversity. If you notice in his vivarium there is always a lot of movement and change going on, even his pond drains and fills up every so often. Not only that but food is readily available so all species can freely breed, but there is natural control within the vivarium to stop prey species from reproducing too much and collapsing the habitat in the form of predators. Also if there was ever a point where there isn't enough suitable space for anything that breeds, they can freely escape the vivarium into his garden instead of putting excess strain on the habitat.
Every habitat has a "carry capacity" of species, however with the right understanding it's very easy to encourage biodiversity without collapsing the ecosystem in the process.
Look at all the animals in my local Mill Creek neighborhood.
1:38 looks like a trilobite lol
