Do you have a full shot of the vivarium? Also, have you ever thought about setting up a live 24 hours camera of the vivarium for the audience to watch?
I have! Maybe in the future... and concenrning a full shot view its kinda hard since it is soooo huge!
@@nordicants6232 similar to the last shot only the more active area in the viv? if there is one or perhaps set up a few options with different cameras and areas bu that would mean $$
Hi,
you have a couple of interesting ants in your video, the host of your epiphite are Phillidris sp., while the red ants are a Colobopsis sp. in the C. cilindrica group also known as exploding ants, since the minor workers when threatened explode and exude a sticky substance that is smeared onto predators to repel them.
Have you ever showed a full-scale view of the vivarium on the channel? I've watched multiple episodes, yet still don't have much of an idea of how large it is.
Ya I’d like to know the specs of the size
2 meters and 70 cm, and you just like a ”yo mama joke”... its too big for the camera ;D
That was my main query.
The vivarium is not yours it's theirs ahaha. I love how you show this microcosmo in areally cool 'raw' way
So true! Hahahah thank you so much man :D
This is not infamous ants plants it s a amazing ando wonderfull plant special with adaptations living ants this magnificets

Oh meee gooodness a video!
I don’t think those are crematogaster they don’t have a heart shaped gaster but they remind me of something
Same!
Ian Horch they are
They look kinda like Aztec ants. Those are really cool! They usually have a really cool symbiotic relationship with cecropia trees
Those are Azteca! The head is the giveaway.
You are one of my favorite channels!!!!! It’s always a treat to see you upload :)
Thank you so much!!! :D
Wow! Amazing video!

I would love to see a return of a big ant species like the dinosaur ants or something like that they gave the ecosystem a presence of something big roaming the jungle like environment
True! They really were something...

Superb video! Love so much about it! The life and the amount of new things to learn about is extraordinary. There’s so many epic things. I love your aspirations and I hope the community grows appropriately. This stuff should be more common.
I love your videos

Yes! D rugosum :D
@@nordicants6232 fANTastic :D
Your updates are always worth the wait. I could watch your vivarium for hours on end it is so fascinating, and your inhabitants all appear so healthy and active. The new ant plant is quite strange, it will be interesting to see if the two species will tolerate each other in the same plant. Thank you for taking the time to make this video update, things change so quickly in there it seems. Was that last little critter a skink of some kind? Stay well and keep happy...🖤🇨🇦
Thank you so so much! Yeah i am impatient to get to know what will eventually happend with that plant :D and yes its a skink that i really didnt know about xD
Nordic Ants Yay!!! I love skinks. I’m very intrigued by your big slug, and you are right...it most resembles the Canadian camel slug, but I don’t see how it could be. How wonderful that it bred young in the vivarium though.🖤🇨🇦
Nice Philidris
when are you going to do a nother update on the other vivariam
OK! good video as always! and by tradition I have questions:
0:50 what is it? I think that this is not crematogaster because they have not a sharp ass and completely in the fur (if they actively move and lift them - maybe crematogaster)
i think this is Meranoplus
I just saw a little new moss:( 1:50 strawberry? cool! 10:25 lasius umbratus! and the question is where are the termites !!??!??! white scavengers??!! I hope they will be shown in the next video. and the main question is why Now the soil looks like it is dead? It was different in the video about the dino ants, and as an option, add an carrion beetles. The main thing is homework, so good luck!
First it is some sort of cricket that Coimbra outsider the vivarium! And yes it is a species of strawberry! And yeah the subterranean squad is getting little if no covering atm which is a shame! Will try to change that :D hahah thanks for watching
About the idea of mapping the food web, is it to late to say that it has become so complicated that you can’t keep track of it
If so, everyone can help, but only if you show the most recent footage of the terrarium per video
Im currently not with the vivarium :( but i will map it by the end of june!!
@@nordicants6232 let us know if you have any trouble
We missed u
Missed you
can't help with ID but the large slug's baby's back is opening and closing around an internal shell! Looks like it has a more prominent shell as a baby than an adult but the adult may also have an internal shell there. Could be a species which is technically considered a snail with a reduced shell rather than a slug
edit: yellow-shelled semi-slug, pamarion martensi?
Will have a look and thank you so much for looking! great thoughts :D
I don’t know if this is too late to get noticed, but I believe those ants are in the genus philidris. It’s the genus that most commonly inhabits myrmecodia.
Subfamily Dolichoderinae. These are in the genus Philidris, which is an ant-plant symbiote actually. I'm not sure how you identified them as Crematogaster 🤔
Thank you. I’m now trying to keep up.
nice intro
Thanks! :D
So cool! Omg!!!
I love it 👍
ich wusste ich finde jemanden den ich kenne XD
Ahhhhh! Its a slug! Imma die! The cuteness! Ahhhhh!
5:10 Those web apparently being mites webs, no spiders webs. The leaves of schefflera plant looks like suffering by mites attack.
The "red ants" were Colobopsis sp. saundersi complex, a.k.a. exploding ants. Minor workers rupture their gasters, releasing a toxic chemical, as a defence mechanism. This is a kamikaze action.
check the species on alexwild's website man pretty sure i have seen them there
Smart!!
@@nordicants6232 could you try a hand at introducing burrowing crayfish?or maybe a small mouse in the terrarium??would be interesting to see the interactions
Dude, you should grow one, 1hey are so easy and fast!
I thought they were termites at first
Me too ....
Awawww :( that wouldve been awesome though
Nordic Ants true
i actually like watching ur vids more that antscanda's keep up the good, great, fantastic, etc work looove ur vids
Haha..i feel you.. The moment when u no longer know what's in your vivarium. My vivarium too suddenly have different ant species appeared out of nowhere. Seems like a queen flew in during their nuptial flight.
You can use matabele ants to control the termites
I walk past computer.. see Nordic Ants vid.. On the way to do a job.. think "what the hell, I'll see the start"... 10:40 later im off to do my job
is there some ant space more left pls add green weaver ants something from our country too
4:50 about then, you have some kind of jumping spider, then a stick bug, do you know any tree frog importers to the EU? I’ve been looking into making my own viv this year
How many gallons is it???
Also amazing videos!!!!
4:55 looks like a stinkbug XD
Lol what?? A snake?? How??
This vivarium is just wild
Hahhaahaha yup!
You did an ok cockney/Australian accent :-D
Hahahahah nevertheless it was just bad however you look at it xD thanks though!
You do good vids mate ive enjoyed them, And I also feel the fake is less here than other ant channels i visit
I promess you they are not(what i know) but thank you so much for the comment! :D
9.00 These are not the ants Crematogaster sp. or maybe Philidris brunnea.
Can you Add a formica rufa colony
you should put trap jaw colony
I’m not in the know about local localities, but it looks a lot like a Florida favorite of mine, Blue tailed skink, I know it’s not blue tailed, or 5 stripe, but very similar body shape, I’m calling it a skink, they love living in leaf litter, you should try getting a ring neck snake, they’re a challenge to keep, but would thrive in the environments you’ve created!
Antastic!! Do you have any tips on Polyrachis Dives?
Hey, I keep Polyrhachis dives! 😃
AntHub PH hi there, I have a 3 queen colony w/ around 50 or so workers and I’m trying to get them to move it to a plant, they have nested underground as I have put in too much substrate. The ant nest is visible. Do you have an idea or a tip to get them to move onto the plant?
Try exposing their nest to light and hydrating the substrate. They hate wet nest.
AntHub PH ok thx, I’m just worried that they’ll move to somewhere they’re less visible
English Ants polyrachis dives doesnt naturally nest in plants, but on the soil or rocks and so on. However in captivity it is possible by getting a heat lamp and then shining it at the place you want them to nest. 100% of the time it works! Since they love heat! Mine even moved to 45 degrees celcius! Xd
Maybe add grasshoppers they are really important and grab some super worms
That british accent killed me 😁 😁
#metoo
Bro! That’s awesome!! 🇺🇸 I live in Shoreacres Houston Texas.Which state/country do you live in?
He live in Thailand and Sweden (this vivarium in Thailand)
Correct! Amazing :D
I don't think the music was bad.. Better than some elevator music or something.
Nice video
Btw,anybody know what is the natural predator of fire ant?
Some sort of parasitic fly that lais eggs in the workers
They have very few predators, almost none in the US. But they have enemies, the animal that can most easily take down a fire ant without being harmed is that parasitic fly. But organisms that keep their population in check should be loads of spiders or an equally big antnest of a territorial species like formica rufa!
@@nordicants6232 is there is any that could easily get(buy or capture)?
And do the fly also lay eggs at other insect
your slug is from the genus parmarion
Thank you sososososmuch! Will check
I think that thing is a semi-slug with the name Parmarion martensi
Nature everybody!
Who would you say is the apex predator of the vivarium?
The pheidole ants! They are uncontested now. Except from the lizards and possibly the crab
@@nordicants6232 and .......the frog?!
Nice vivarium! Not sure if this is a good idea but have you though of introducing a salamander?
Will do in my temperated vivarium! :D
Wich animals do uou have in your vivarium?
