You have the nicest video format on UA-cam. While you do talk from time to time you do not feel compelled to train the camera on your face and run your jaws like so many others. A picture is worth a thousand words, yet some feel the need to spray a thousand words at us. You seem like a really humble guy. God bless.
I agree although sometimes the topic requires an explanation to be spoken verbally. The thing about blacksmithing videos is that the video itself can fully explain what’s happening because you can watch it happening, so words aren’t really needed.
The problem with other channels are they keep doing “how to” videos over and over. Most of us just like to watch a person work and what they are creating. I’ve been smithing for years, I don’t need a how to video. If I’m trying to learn something I can see what’s happening in the video. No need to explain heat treating and how a forge works in every video 🤦♂️
I found your channel a few days ago when your wafer iron video was in my recommended list. I have been binging your videos almost non-stop since! Definitely recommending you to some friends for them to check out. 💗🇦🇺 Australia
I'm a bit jealous of you, still being able to binge watch new episodes. Oh wel a new torbjorn video in the subscriptions list, from time to time is also highly appreciated.
The effectiveness of this tool was pretty surprising to me. It looks so simple and barely has any wedge or angle, but it moved a lot of material really quickly and very "cleanly." Very impressive!
I'm also a blacksmith. I enjoy watching the different techniques. There's no right or wrong, but safety is not negotiable. This channel does use all the safety steps that are required but I've seen some on UA-cam that leave a lot to be desired. For all of you new blacksmiths, alway wear ear and eye protection. I know you may wonder why eye protection, but every once in a while you will feel chips of metal fly to your face. Sometimes they sell you the wrong metal. An experience blacksmith will know right away, but students might not know and be injured by this. Also, proper ventilation is always essential. Don't get cheap unless you want to damage your lungs. Last but not least, the hearing protection should be rated at a minimum of 30 decibels. The higher the better. You can never go too high. Enjoy blacksmithing in a safe way.
Always amazing to me is how big of a tool you can make from such a small piece of round bar. Let alone your deft hands and amazing control of your power hammers! Thanks for the inspiration and anticipation of what you are going to build next! Hat Tip, ~PJ
If only I had the means to create my own tools, I'd do so. When I need one, I have to buy it and I cringe at the cost. You on the other hand, can just go out to the workshop and forge one. Forging seems to be a very handy and lucrative skill, one of which that many can be very envious of.
Good to see again a blacksmithing work from you. Been long time sounds like years. I hope this will continue and we can watch your precise metal processing works. Have nice days
It is fascinating the different tools required to make or to forge specific features in a project. Very similar to woodworking where you must make a jig to perform a feature in a piece of wood.
Le bonsoir de France ! I see that your magic skills of invocation are improving over time ! Jokes aside, the saw-toothed shape of the test piece could make a nice ornament. Well, well. I follow your work for a long time and I always be pleased when you share a new video. You are truely magnify blacksmithing processes and only you know how to do it as well as you do. I wish you all the best for this new year. Vive la forge, vive la Suède, vive Torbjörn !
Whenever I watch your videos, I feel amazed by your outstanding work, no doubt it may be once in a time, but still there is something that fascinates in the video with something extreme...cool keepup👍👍👍
Very nice Job. Hopefully you get great use out of it for many years to come. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God Bless.
Great looking tool that you've made!!! It took me awhile to know what it was you were making not being a blacksmith but enjoy watching it Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
6 dias de atraso mas estou aqui, assistindo o cara mais foda no martelo que tem no UA-cam. O que eu não daria pra passar uma semana nessa oficina assistindo presencialmente.
When you started forging the piece of mild steel at the end, there was a point where it started to look like a Moai statue (from Rapa Nui/easter island). Maybe that's an idea for a future forged figure? I'd love to watch how you'd make one!
A very useful addition to your already extensive line up of tools, skill fully made as usual 👍. That blue striped coat you always wear, is this a “Swedish work shirt”, or something you’ve designed for yourself? Looks good.👌 Regards from Down Under.

My lovely wife: “He is in his shop making a tool. So he can then make a tool”. It’s all about the tooling. You have done another great job of it Brother Torbjörn!
I still don't know what a set tool is for... sorry. Though one thing I can tell you is, seeing your anvil, I've always loved the idea of them. Ever since I was a little kid, I've loved anvils - such a big, heavy, solid, sturdy chunk of steel. I worked in a steel fabricating company for a while when I was 17 (1967). It was with a bunch of old, crusty, hardcore, smoking, steel workers... the best summer job. .
Yes, that is boiled linseed oil. It's a running joke on his channel. Just about everything he makes gets the BLO treatment. Lately the can of oil has made its entrance in funny ways 😄

Yes, you are right. I refuse to watch videos where there is somebody flapping their gums all the time. So annoying

Who else instantly hits the like button in the first second of watching Torbjörns video?
Love it when you post new videos. 13 degrees here in Boise this morning. I wish I had your fire.
Brrr...
Making a tool, always a sign of an interesting project ahead!
I wonder if it is related to the flax experiment
I was thinking the exact same thought....I wonder what he has in store for us.

i may have fallen out of love with blacksmithing ages ago but I will still always return to you mate, peak content you are!!
Thanks as always for the education. I especially like to hear the hammers. There is never a need for canned music. Well done.
Had me on the edge of my set from start to finish. Every smith needs one of those tools.
For some reason, the angles and shape of the test piece at the end made me think of a tiki idol.
Perhaps you will forge a tiki idol for us?
You are without a doubt one of my favorite people on the whole planet!
Thank you for taking time to film, edit and post this video.

Looks perfect for forging some Jack stands. Another excellent video.
Having watch many of your videos I imagine this video is a lead up to something more intricate. I'm looking forward to it!
So now I know how the original old lock gate ratchet racks were made, thanks very much 🍻
Very tidy and well done. Good man torbjorn! Cheers J
Thanks Josh! It seems to work fine. The angle is a bit less than 90, to make it not flip
I’m glad Torbjörn could set a-side the time.
:)
I find it so relaxing to watch your videos.
Thanks!
Once again, I love your work and your simple humor.

I hope so too!
Our #1 blacksmith hero on UA-cam! As always a pleasure to watch you bend the metal to your iron will❤️🔥
Hmmm... now what is it that you're planning with that test piece? Great video as always Torbjörn, thank you!
Again Torbjorn shows the ease and flow of working steel. JC🌵
Torbjörn makes a tool video, that can only mean there is an exciting project coming up that will use said tool :)
Even the toughest steel is like putty in your hands. Looking forward to your next project!

That was so cool. I gotta make one of those. I would never use it, but it is so simply elegant i need one.
Ha ha, you will find something to use it on, I'm sure! :)
Very precise.
Impressive!
Swedish wizard, your videos are amazing!
Wonderful video. I always enjoy you giving us the occasional laugh. But your craftsmanship is just always superior.
As always nicely done sir.
Thanks Marc!
Silly question sir. Is the 4340 steel tougher then the topical 4140.
I would say yes, but haven't really compared.
Such a nice touch with oil bottle. Made me lough😁
Your precision always amazes me !
@TROBJORNAHMAN- ✅
Ha nice new video. Great work on a new tool. Hope to see you put it to good use. 😍
That groan at 8:50 forging a little too far is priceless
Hello and thanks for sharing such expert skills and video content.
Linseed oil, falling from the sky, on command. Nice touch.

Well done, dear brother. God bless you so much.
Thank you for showing your technique !-)
Great video. You did amazing work on this projects!
thank you great video and blacksmithing.
Very nice! I'm looking at forging side set tools now that I'll be getting a tire hammer in a few months.

Hello Torbjorn
I received a notification from you but I don't know what to do with what is requested

Another terrific tool. I'm still practicing my technique for getting the linseed oil to be available 🤣
Forgot to wish you and family all the best for the coming year.
Thank you, the same to you!

Hello from Finland 👋 always wait your new videos 👍
craftsman --- usta , thanks for the video without music ---- müziksiz video için teşekkür .
Det är alltid ett stort nöje att se dina videor, och jag talar inte ens english :)
I litteraly watched your video last night- a carving knife for the third time in a year
Cool

brilliant yet again

P-neumatic power hammer are awesome.

Thanks! Not sure how it originates, but the same style has been used by craftsmen for many generations I believe.

Great video. Like all your others. Greetings
I wonder what the plans are for this new tool. As usual a craftsman at work.
Good evening, Torbjörn!
Well done, as always! When near the end of the video I thought this tool can be used to create ratchets.
Maybe not perfect, but definitely good enough for many old type of machinery.

A great video Sir ! This tool could be used for making the wedges used in axe and hammer heads .
Maybe you could!
Great work👏

Great craftsmanship as always, but I'm confused about what this tool is used for? I was hoping you'll show us a little demonstration at the end.
There certainly was a demo at the end, but the next project will probably show more.
